Red thread of Fate

Recommended Posts

And so it goes like this:

An old Chinese wives tale says that before one is born, one of the deities ties one end of an invisible spiritual red ribbon around your ankle (in some cultures its tied to your pinky/little finger), and that the other end is tied around the ankle (or pinky) of your soul mate.

They say that no matter how fate twists, turns, stretches or attempts to sever that thread/ribbon - it never-ever breaks. That ribbon transcends distance, cultures, countries and time. Hence if you ever found that person, you would naturally click and become a perfect pair made for each other - nothing can separate you. Thing is, not everyone is blessed with their fated encounter.

I'm a naturally serious guy, but I really found the story quite adorable. (Its just a fairy tale).

Am I childish to want to believe in something silly like this?

What do people here think? Has anyone heard of this before? ~DISCUSS~

P.S. I am chinese

Yeah, I heard of it before. It was a part of a detective conan movie and I really like the idea of it. Though I kinda have the feeling that I'm one of those who won't really have that encounter. Oh well, i'll just get myself some cats to compensate. :P

It's nice to believe in, but there is another side no one thinks about.  Two people are tied together no matter their fate, but what if one of them was born with a weak body and doesn't live long or has a terrible accident and passes at an early age.  What becomes of the other who must continue living with that red thread that is impossible to break?  I've always wondered that.
