Weiss 8,279 Posted April 24, 2013 Donald was intended to be the original protagonist of KH. Assuming you would play as him that would generally mean he'd be actually good to use. Comparing anything useful he could have been as the main playable character to how terrible he tends to be leads to the assumption he was purposefully made to be a terrible party member. I find this quite amusing. 1 Reyn reacted to this
Dracozombie 4,554 Posted April 24, 2013 I don't think he was purposefully made bad as much as it is one's uncontrolled party members in games tend to be total nitwits. Protagonists are always given more power than the other party members, especially if they can't be directly controlled. Though, it wouldn't be a stretch to think they did it on purpose. I never got into the classic Disney shorts, but from what I read about, things usually don't go well for Donald. 2 Jilly Shears and Reyn reacted to this
ReikuSSR 1,071 Posted April 24, 2013 (edited) I thought it might be a case of a character underdog scenario. like FaizeHe was actually programmed to be the weakest character no matter what equipment or level. That is why I played him. That and he was my favorite character of SO:LH Edited April 24, 2013 by ReikuSSR
WakelessDream 2,283 Posted April 24, 2013 Wait, wait, I thought Donald was supposed to be the primary antagonist, and Mickey the protagonist, in any case I guess he was made weaker, but whatever I've gotten used to his terribleness as a party member over the years!~ 1 Reyn reacted to this

In DDD, Sora's Max Stats are in the 80's(60 for Defense), while the Max Stats for Dream Eaters tend to be in the 100-110's(80-90's for Defense) making them more OP than you. And they are actually more useful than Donald and Goofy combined, which is so Ironic, . Then again, considering you raise them like Pokemon, it makes more sense. Hei 3,233 Posted April 24, 2013 His AI simply wasn't capable of controlling a talking duck well
Ruran 481 Posted April 24, 2013 I kinda took it that Donald and Goofy were, at least partly, made as buffers, to help take the damage off of you by distracting the Heartless so there weren't as many on you at once. Hence they were made "weak" on purpose to balance things out. As the protagonist when you play as Sora you're the one that's supposed to be decking out and receiving the most damage so Donald and Goofy are there to buffer you a little but not enough that the fight is legitimately divided among the three equally. Reyn 1,755 Posted April 24, 2013 The adorable brightly-colored creatures are more useful than Donald and Goofy combined. Poor Donald really does have it rough. Yep, more useful. But yes, Donald really does have it rough. Poor little guy. His AI simply wasn't capable of controlling a talking duck well Nope, but the AI for the Dream Eaters is perfectly capable of controlling Dinosaurs, Cats, Doggish Cats, Tigers, and more! I kinda took it that Donald and Goofy were, at least partly, made as buffers, to help take the damage off of you by distracting the Heartless so there weren't as many on you at once. Well to be fair, Goofy is really good at dealing damage(Especially with moves like Tornado) while Donald is kinda useless for the most part except for when casting Spells from a distance and curing you or another fallen Party member. But yeah, it's harder without them to help distract Heartless for you. COM and BBS, are proof of that, since you basically fight by yourself.
Oishii 3,987 Posted April 24, 2013 I think Donald secretly still carries a grudge against Sora since that Deep Jungle incident. He's 'pretending' to be weak in order to kill Sora. 4 Reyn, Rob, Jim and 1 other reacted to this
Spiney 125 Posted April 24, 2013 I think Donald secretly still carries a grudge against Sora since that Deep Jungle incident. He's 'pretending' to be weak in order to kill Sora. Omg, agreed. The only thing I find him useful for is healing me But even that isn't much...although I did like the team attack in KH2,,,,the fireworks one? It was pretty
Britipinojeff 95 Posted April 24, 2013 honestly i hope that in kh3 we can have a cooperative story mode where someone can be donald, cuz i don't want my white mage to die 40 times and never heal me. thats all i need him for who cares about thunder and other magic just effin heal me. Its either that, or he's working with Xehanort secretly to kill Sora. He will be one of the XIII darknesses in KH3, and Sora will be forced to kill him. King.Mickey 359 Posted April 24, 2013 I think Donald secretly still carries a grudge against Sora since that Deep Jungle incident. He's 'pretending' to be weak in order to kill Sora. He's going to be the main antagonist in the next saga for that exact reason, slowly plotting his revenge against Sora for taking control of that Gummi ship!
