SSGoten 59 Posted April 21, 2013 (edited) Am I the only one bothered by the lack of NPCs in worlds? When you go to a world, let's say Traverse Town in KH, there are almost no NPCs there. I understand it's where you go when your world disappears or whatever, but let's look at Twilight Town from II. Yes, there are more NPCs here, but you can still probably count the amount of NPCs on your hand. It's understandable in some worlds (Tarzan's world, Alice's world, Beast's castle, etc.) but some worlds SHOULD have more NPCs. It just kinda bugs me. What do you guys think? Weiss 8,279 Posted April 21, 2013 3D was easily the worst game when it came to the npcs. All there ever was were the moogles.
Sora96 17,256 Posted April 21, 2013 I'm sure Kingdom Hearts III will have more.
Hei 3,233 Posted April 21, 2013 3D was like a ghost town most of the time 5 Weiss, TheApprenticeofKingMickey, Kaiso and 2 others reacted to this
RoxSox 3,593 Posted April 21, 2013 I agree. I miss the environment of KH1 Traverse Town, where there were always people... (at least in the first district). The worlds nowadays just feel... empty... I mean, in DDD, it makes sense, because it is all a dream. And in coded it makes sense, because it's all data. 2 TheApprenticeofKingMickey and Springy_Thingy reacted to this
Columned-Munny 274 Posted April 21, 2013 I'm really hoping this gets fixed in KHIII. I feel a bit too much like I'm on an empty set rather than a brought-to-life Disney world. Agrabah should be bustling with street shoppers, Land of Dragons should have a full city of citizens, and the Colosseum shouldn't be home to a crowd of invisible spectators. 5 CloakedSchemerX, Ritinha, Rayo_Rojo and 2 others reacted to this
Britipinojeff 95 Posted April 21, 2013 i kinda want the worlds of KH3 to be sorta like final fantasy where there are npcs everywhere no matter how useless they are or have Traverse Town and Twilight Town seem like Academia in FFXIII-
xxClouDxxmoon 901 Posted April 21, 2013 Im hoping for way more in KH3, i mean just imagine the coliseum packed with people around you watching you fight. Glorious.
Jim 2,990 Posted April 21, 2013 I thought 1 and 2 did fine with that, I mean, as well as they could. BBS was ok with it, but I thought it could use improvement, not to mention NPCs seemed to cause lag. 3D was awful in that aspect. Like literally, the only NPC besides the moogles was Mickey, for all of ten seconds in Country of the Musketeers. RoxSox makes an interesting point about that though, so maybe I'll cut them a bit of slack
TheApprenticeofKingMickey 3,689 Posted April 21, 2013 BBS was the worst offender, to be honest. Like RoxSox said, coded and 3D were understandable but everywhere in Birth by Sleep, it felt like walking in ghost towns.
PublicLibraryx 55 Posted April 21, 2013 Let's just hope they flood the worlds with more NPC's so there won't be much room to use your keyblade!
TheOriginalBob 110 Posted April 21, 2013 (edited) Simply put, it comes down to time and money. But for BBS I think it was more of a specification issue. Edited April 21, 2013 by TheOriginalBob

Caity 3,946 Posted April 21, 2013 It really comes down to:Are they necessary to the story Is it worth the time to render Can we afford to give out space/memory on the cartridge/disc for them instead of other features KH3D was the worse for it but tbh I barely expected any NPCs on a DS system. I hope to see more in the future, but I don't want areas overrun with them 'cause then you won't be able to fight in those areas.
Kyonne 2 Posted April 21, 2013 Actually i don't think 3D can get away with it It's indeed a dream but it's a whole world sleeping, all of it's habitants sleeps with it, that's how we find characters as pinnochio and mickey around there, so there shouldn't be a reason not to have sleeping NPCs around too Also it would be gold if the NPCs were flowmotion'ing around 1 Jamos reacted to this
SSGoten 59 Posted April 21, 2013 Yeah, I imagined some of it was due to the systems' specs, and maybe it would've caused the game to lag when trying to load all them, but I never thought about the space or money problem. Like Sora96 said, hopefully KHIII will have more, and I think they should, because the PS3 can handle it, and the discs can hold 50gb (Thank God for dual-layered discs!). Yes! Agrabah should be loaded with shoppers! And when a fight breaks out... I'm really hoping this gets fixed in KHIII. I feel a bit too much like I'm on an empty set rather than a brought-to-life Disney world. Agrabah should be bustling with street shoppers, Land of Dragons should have a full city of citizens, and the Colosseum shouldn't be home to a crowd of invisible spectators. Let's just hope they flood the worlds with more NPC's so there won't be much room to use your keyblade! ... The NPCs flee the area, like in the Favela level in MW2. They all just run away. i kinda want the worlds of KH3 to be sorta like final fantasy where there are npcs everywhere no matter how useless they are or have Traverse Town and Twilight Town seem like Academia in FFXIII-2 It's funny that you mention FF, because I was watching gameplay from Versus XII or whatever it's called and I saw TONS of NPCs in an area and I remembered how KH lacks that I agree. I miss the environment of KH1 Traverse Town, where there were always people... (at least in the first district). The worlds nowadays just feel... empty... I mean, in DDD, it makes sense, because it is all a dream. And in coded it makes sense, because it's all data. Yeah, I mean those worlds are understandable. But many others weren't. I even feel like Disney Castle should have had more people.

Silvia Kuroi 1,480 Posted April 21, 2013 It really disturbed me how there are barely any NPCs at all in DDD. I didn't mind it in Re:Coded-- but I expected there would be a bit more in DDD.

King.Mickey 359 Posted April 21, 2013 KH just isnt meant to be an NPC type game.Basically this. But seeing as KH 3 is going to be...well, KH 3, there's probably going to be loads. Or at least more than KH 2, which is perfect.
