catmaster0116 2,676 Posted April 19, 2013 Okay, I was just wondering I'm seriously thinking of buying a 3DS XL, but there are some things which annoy me as an Australian: A ) The games and consoles are way over priced....seriously $249 for Nintendo 3DS XL...? In US its $169.99, €169.99 in Europe, £130-150 in UK and 15,000¥ in Japan...why do we have to be the ones to cough up more dough for the same stuff? Its so not fair imo ...and Australia govt is all like zomg!! LETS TAX GAMERS!!....We have a bunch of crusty dry dead monkeys in parliament...step down and let Xehanort be PM B ) There are heaps of games I want for the 3DSXL should I get one with KH being top priority on my list...last I checked it costs like $70-$80 at my local EB games or JBHifi...importing isn't an option since if I import from overseas the Australian 3DSXL will refuse to play it due to the annoying region lock... Fire Emblem, Pokemon X/Y, Legend of Zelda ALTTP2, Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time are some of the other games I want on my list...but if a game costs $70 each...im less inclined to spend my hard earned cash C ) Australia Nintendo didn't release any good 3DSXL colours here. I really wanted that pearl white design and was hoping for a vibrant orange or baby blue in the future.... all we get are red, blue, black and silver....I mean come on! Pink and Baby blue are awesome colours...T_T but they were only exclusive to America and Japan... All in all, u fail Nintendo Australia - u fail to impress and serve your gamers, and you've officially lost me as a fan... Buuut...I guess this isn't just limited to Nintendo...I have a bone to pick with Sony/Playstation too (Thats right KH:reCoM ...and Sora96 knows that all too well)...thank god I modchipped my PS2 *deep breaths* I had to get that out of my system Alternatively I could just import a US 3DSXL and import US games.......but that would mean I won't have warranty...etc....T_T Lastly, JBHIFI is offering 3DSXL for brand new AUD $200 this weekend for a sale (colours = blue, red, white, black) should I buy? Or should I ditch?...coz in the end I'll have to spend $270 anyway if I want the console and a game...T_T or..maybe im too old for games
advfox 698 Posted April 19, 2013 The 3DS/XL is a well built console, so if you imported one from the US you wouldn't have to worry about warranty too much. But if you're still uncomfortable with that, I would go for the $200 sale.
Sora96 17,256 Posted April 19, 2013 http://www.jbhifionline.com.au/game/3ds/kingdom-hearts-3d-dream-drop-distance/664001 $59 actually. Yes, video games are overpriced in Australia and despite having the strongest dollar in the entire world this won't be changing anytime soon. Just gotta get over it,
xxClouDxxmoon 901 Posted April 19, 2013 Doesnt it just piss you off sometimes?
Springy_Thingy 9 Posted April 19, 2013 I have a bone to pick with SE and Nintendo too, but anyway, I'd say maybe import it from America; both console and games. To me it seems like America has cheaper prices on both consoles and games, sometimes even Limited edition bundles. But like said before by another user, if you're uncomfortable with importing it, then maybe just wait a little longer, try to save up more and then buy the console and games in Australia
Weiss 8,279 Posted April 19, 2013 Well that sucks. The 3DS is a great console with a very well made library that is still growing so if you do get it you will not be dissapointed.
Hei 3,233 Posted April 19, 2013 Australia is really that bad with gaming? That's really lame, but I say just import if it costs cheaper. It's really good handheld, whether it be the regular or XL 3DS.
