Video KH Medley:Talent Show Tryout!

Recommended Posts

We recorded what we played for the audition! =D

Roxas's Theme: This was learned mostly by ear- (You might be able to hear a small nod to Ventus somewhere. :3)
Riku's Theme: The original song was simply too mellow, and that really wasn't transferable to piano and flute without feeling too empty, so we took pieces and bits from the Piano version and other battle-themes Yoko wrote to make it our own.
Dearly Beloved: Simply the song in it's beautiful glory.

Must... resist... analyzing... music.

Screw it. Hope I don't hurt your feelings...

0:00-1:00 Roxas Theme.

Gotta admit, pretty good. The only thing bugging me would be the flute being an octave lower than I anticipated. Also, playing slower for both piano and flute would sound more faithful to the theme. Didn't really conjure up the emotions usually associated with Roxas.

1:01- 2:00 Riku's Theme

Piano: Flawless harmony execution. Just flat out PERFECT. Flute managed to pull it's fair share by playing the melody part of his theme.

However, the transition from Roxas to Riku felt too abrupt. I would recommend a longer transition.

2:01 - 2:13: Xion's Theme

Now THAT is a flawless transition. GENIUS!

2:14-3:34 Dearly Beloved

Piano did a really neat job. Sounded just like the Piano Collections version, which is a standalone in itself. Flute did great playing harmony. Personally, I was hoping for the 358/2 version but to each and every one their own opinion.

Overall: Don't worry. You'll curbstomp this talent show. Go out and grab a beer root beer. You got this in the bag.

Haha, no prob! =D I love feedback.

Unfortunately, we have a time limit. -.- We were trying to keep this under 4 minutes, but I suppose we could slow down a bit. As for the octave, she's still working on it! =)

Thanks! Again, time constraints.

Yeah, like I said, sorry if I hurt your feelings in anyway. This is a person who is so used to listening to beautifully reworked classical music of the series and I'm an audiophile so after listening to it initially, I go all super critical on the details. If you're wonder what I'm putting you up against as a benchmark, well...

Roxas Theme/The Other promise. Specifically, 1:26-1:45. That's why I suggested it a little slower.

Riku I used the Piano Collection's version as a benchmark.

0:00-2:17 Dearly beloved

Just wanted to show you what you're up against in my viewpoint. The fact that I consider you "up there" with all those people is not something I say often. And the time constraints just will it. DEMAND MOAR TIME!!!
