I'm no longer sure on the assassins creed series, after the disappointment of how 3 ended but this trailer has got me wanting to know how four will work with the ending of 3.

My hypothesis is this: AC is a on a yearly release schedule, but new consoles are coming this year. Ubisoft might have a team that's working on a real AC4, but there's a jump in development time for the new hardware. So they took the asset that they spent a whole studio developing (the boat stuff in ACIII) and said, "We have this, we can make a full game that utilizes it for next year." Throw in a new-ish setting, a character who is more swash buckling than stoic, and the best parts of the Assassin's Creed formula and boom, new AC title right on schedule that can work on next gen consoles, but uses the old games' parts. 

 

I'm excited for it, though so far it feels the most "spin-offish" to me of the series. Looking forward to seeing more.

It looks freaking awesome... There's such a great atmosphere in this game. The Scene where he dived under the ship and in the jungle gave a weird feeling in my stomach A good feeling. I just hope now this game won't dissappoint me

The trailers were up by accident by ubisoft but people got a hold of them before they removed them and put them up on other media sharing sites. It is a lot to get leaked but they did say everything would be revealed by march 4th so we're almost there

Assassin's Creed is my second favorite video game series, right after Kingdom Hearts!  Playing an AC game in Pirate Era seems awesome, and the ship portions of AC3 were fun(although I would steer so terribly sometimes, lol.)  But let's hope this is legitimate AC we're talking about here!

The European release of the game will be on November 1st. The game's development originally started in Summer of 2011

And some game details:

 

• Kenway is a member of the assassins, but holds most allegiance to himself.
• He’s fighting a band of rival pirates.
• Giving “the HBO treatment” to pirates.
• No Desmond Miles. You control an employee of Abstergo Entertainment, a subsidiary of Aspergo. They’re researching the life of Edward Kenway to make…a video game.
• Big focus on Kenway’s ship. Can upgrade/customise.
• Spyglass to spot ships and distant islands.
• Open world ship exploration. Metroidvania style world design that requires ship upgrades to better access certain areas.
• Calling it “true open world” and “systemic gameplay”. Don’t want players to be burdened with loading screens and an abundance of cutscenes as they explore the world.
• Blackbeard, Charles Vane, Calico Jack, Anne Bonny, and Ben Hornigold make an appearance.
• Bartholomew Roberts’ assault on 42 Portuguese ships, and the Spanish Armada wreck, to be shown.
• Open ended assassinations to return.
• Random events in the game world. Example: accidentally stumbling upon a giant enemy ship, then luring that ship into a tropical storm. Boarding the weakened ship to conquer.
• Underwater swimming confirmed.
• Whale hunting
• Cuba, Nassau, tip of Florida, and The Bahamas. Jungles, temples, villages, Mayan ruins, underwater shipwrecks, etc.

Seems to fast, feels like it's turning into the COD of open world lol But it does look interesting, the PS4 version will probably be the better out of the 4 versions though

I'm pretty excited though still have a few theories left to see about it.

The ps3 version actually gets an hour of exclusive content.
