Do PSN downloads look better on an HDTV than PS1 games?

Recommended Posts

I recently got an HDTV and tried playing some PS1 games on it (using the PS3).  Turns out the quality looks pretty bad on the screen in comparison to my old analog TV.  I'm just curious if anyone knows if the PSN downloads look any better on the HD screen, or if they've been formatted differently to appear nicer?  I'm thinking to replace a few hard copies of some Final Fantasys that way, if that's the case.

I think if you use A/V jacks they look the same but if you use an HDMI cable they look better

Yeah, I tried using the HDMI cable but the PS1 games still look pretty bad, unfortunately.  I've heard that the PSN downloads were made specifically for the PS3, so I was hopeful that they might've been reformatted to look better on an HDTV.  Thanks for the suggestion, though!

PS1 Games.... You can't expect them to look much better with a psn download on an hdtv (for a ps1 game). What you got on a ps1 game was pretty much what you get to look at they don't bet better on a higher resolution if anything it may stretch it out or distort the original quality.

Thanks for all the help, guys. :)  It seems that the answers to this question are relatively mixed, so perhaps I'll just have to get one of the PS1 games from the PSN and see if the graphics are any better.  I'll post my findings and let you all know what happens!
