Whimsy-Mimsy 99 Posted March 22, 2013 So once upon a time I was considering watching Doctor Who, but I had a bit of a nasty break up with someone who loved it, and had promised to take my hand and lead me into the so called wonderful world of the Whoovians. So now I'm conflicted: I kinda still want to watch it, but so many angry feels come up, I don't know if it's worth it. Thoughts? Should I try it, and if so, where do I start? And if not, how else do I waste my time?

Amon 4,279 Posted March 22, 2013 The revived series (I can't speak for the older ones as I never saw them) is absolutely fantastic. I feel that you should give it a chance. Netflix is my preffered method of watching all of the episodes from the older seasons of the new series.

Silvia Kuroi 1,480 Posted March 22, 2013 WATCH IT NOW I wholeheartedly agree. If you want to start at a good place- try the Ninth Doctor stuff (Played by Christopher Eccleston), as that leads up to the Tenth Doctor (David Tennant), and then the current one (Matt Smith.) Since the Ninth Doctor is the essentially beginning of the revived series, it's the best place to start. If you like wacky yet serious sci-fi shows, then Doctor Who is for you. If not, well....the Daleks won't let me speak of what happens to those who don't like it...
Demyx. 10,064 Posted March 22, 2013 (edited) Just separate your relationship from the show. It really is a wonderful show. It's my favorite. It'll make you laugh and then cry the next second and it is full of wit and charm. It's pretty much the best show ever. Start with the first season of the modern series. Azzurro 36 Posted March 22, 2013 Doctor Who is such an incredible show you should really give it a try, I promise you won't regret it.
Koko 3,944 Posted March 22, 2013 Don't let someone ruin what could be a great experience. My girlfriend hates a series that I love (and I know she would too if she gave it a chance) because of someone she's jealous of and it upsets me greatly.
Xalaru 445 Posted March 22, 2013 (edited) Rather than watching it because your ex-partner suggested it (which is why you're conflicted in the first place), watch it because WE'RE suggesting it and many other people would as well. Honestly, it's awesome. You'll love it. I've only watched Doctors 9, 10 & 11 as that's the modern series and I started watching at 10s first episode. You should probably start with those too unless you wanna be kept busy for the next couple years. & Just gonna take this chance to suggest you try out Sherlock and Merlin too, though. Especially Sherlock. I'm British so I'm probably biased but we do have some damn good shows, c'mon. rikunobodyxiii 700 Posted March 22, 2013 It is a good series that I'd recommend to most anybody. If it is something you are interested in, at least start it. If is dredges up bad feelings, you don't have to continue. As for where to start, I'd say season 1 of the new series.
bit 944 Posted March 22, 2013 i cant tell you to really start from the beginning since the first few seasons weren't aired in America (except in a dvd which I own) but you can basically pick up anywhere and you'll catch on, all you need to know are a few couple facts...that you could find out from, basically anyone on this topic
