The Transcendent Key 12,109 Posted March 23, 2013 Okay guys, here’s the next chapter! By the way, when you finish reading, I want you all to answer me a question. Do you like the way I’m writing this story? Originally I was going to do it from a third person perspective, but then I realized that it was better if I wrote it from a first person perspective. And so, I want to ask you all, do you like the way the story is written? Please be sure to answer and comment on the chapter when you finish reading! Chapter Five: Investigation About twenty minutes later, we make it to my house. It’s not exactly in the city, so to speak. It’s in a more natural place, with a forest serving as my backyard. I park the guard in my nearby shed, and I urge Derek and Rose to get out of the car. I unlock the door to my house, and then we all step in. I turn towards them and say: “Make yourselves at home, but please don’t touch anything fragile, or anything that has to do with my research. I like to be very organized, so I don’t want any messes here, understood?” They nod and they both sit down in the living room. I head towards the kitchen and get myself some water, and then I observe Rose and Derek from the counter. Rose silently lowers her head down, as if in a deep train of thought, while Derek looks around the house curiously. I sip my cup of water and continue to observe them. I then sigh and finish up my cup of water and offer them some refreshments. Rose says in an almost silent whisper: “No thank you…” while Derek nods that he doesn’t want any water. After a few minutes, I call out to them and tell them to come with me into the hall. Derek looks at me and then asks: “Um, what are we doing here?” I glare at him and say: “This is where my office is, but I’m going to have to ask you to turn away.” He nods and he turns away while I enter the password into the small keyboard hidden behind a portrait of me as a little boy. When the keyboard beeps, the hall gives way to a set of stairs that lead downward. I then tell Derek that he can turn around, and then he gasps in amazement. He says: “Wow, this is pretty neat! You’re like the Batman of real life!” I look at him then turn around and roll my eyes: “Um, sure. Thanks. Anyways, come down with me.” Derek goes down the stairs, but I see Rose just standing there on the hallway, her heard turned away from me. I approach her and say: “Look, I know that you don’t feel comfortable, but I just want to tell you that you can trust me. If there’s anything at all you need, or if there’s something you’d rather tell me in private, then just let me know.” She turns around, again with her eyes gazing upon mine, even though she’s blind. She runs her fingers through her hair and she says: “Vincent…I appreciate what you’re doing…but just don’t…” I look at her and reply: “Don’t what? She folds her arms and says: “I know that you’re trying to get into my mind. I know that you’re trying to help me, but just don’t. I’m a lost cause…” I lean in closer to her, and this time, she doesn’t seem to be uncomfortable, and I just say: “No one is ever a lost cause. Don’t sell yourself short.” She nods and then she says: “Vincent. Let’s just focus on the matter at hand…” I take a moment and then say: “Rose…I-“ but I’m cut short by Derek, who’s calling us from the basement. He shouts: “Hey, are you guys coming down or what? I step away from Rose, a little dazed by her beauty, and then I go down the stairs, and I hear Rose coming down behind me. The minute I enter my office, I see Derek touching one of my books and I shout: “Hey, don’t touch that!!!” Derek jumps back, startled, and he falls on his butt. He then says: “Sorry! I didn’t mean to touch anything!” I hear Rose giggle softly, and I smile for a moment, thinking of her…but then I shake off the thought and then I clear my throat. I go straight to my desk and sit down, and tell them to take their seats. I nod at them and say: “All right, let’s get down to business. Do any of you two know of any other incident that has involved this type of murderer?” Derek nods no, and Rose just stays silent, making me think that she’s hiding something valuable. I observe them both and then I lean back on my chair and clean my glasses: “Hmm, it seems that we won’t get that much far if we don’t have any sort of lead. The only thing we do know is that the killer is signaling someone. But either it be a simple taunt or just a gesture of madness is yet to be seen. And of all the people the murderer could target, why did the person choose a small child as its victim? I mean seriously, wouldn’t the murderer have killed a corrupt politician, or even any person that relates to the branch of law and order? It boggles the mind…” I lower my head and close my eyes and enter in deep thought. (Start Song Here) I hear Derek shift in his chair and then he says: “Well, whatever the case, we’ll be sure to help you, and justice is in our side!” I chuckle grimly and then fix my gaze upon him and say: “That is an out of place word Derek. Justice does not truly exist. The world you think you know to be safe and peaceful is really just a wide network of deceit and lies and cover ups. The government makes laws to get more money, and money gives them power, and power makes them corrupt. No true justice exists here in this Earth. Every day you see judges get bribed, and most of the time the people that go to jail are the innocent and hardworking people, while the criminals roam the streets, preying on the weak. And yet the people are too blind to see this, and they choose to go with the flow of things. But let me tell you something Derek, the only true justice that exists is that of God. He is Alpha and Omega, and his judgment is the only one that truly works.” Derek then stays silent, and then I fix my gaze towards Rose. She seems amazed by my words, and then she asks me: “Did you ever consider to be a politician?” I laugh and say: “No, that doesn’t work for me. I prefer being in this line of work, which lets me do what I think is just. And so far, I’ve made small differences in the world, even though their small. But the smallest thing can make the biggest difference, right?“ She nods and says: “Right.” and I see a smile form on her face. After a few seconds, I say: “All right, let me do a bit of investigating.” They nod and sit back in their chairs, apparently waiting for what I’m about to say next. I search in my computer for murders related to the one in this case, and, surprisingly, a result pops up. I then lean towards my desks and look at them: “All right, according to my computer, there are a few murders that have occurred in this same manner, and they all seem to have a link. Most of the murders are exactly the same as the one presented in Tyler’s case, but there’s one in which the victim was left alive. But what’s interesting here though, is the fact that none of these murders have been solved, and the murderer has never been captured. Hmph, it’s irritating how no one’s seemed to solve this. Why didn’t anyone contact me when these murders happened?” Rose says nothing, and I just see her remain silent, which again makes my suspicions about her being tied to the murderer even more correct. Derek then says: “So, what should our first step be?” I ponder his question, and I twirl my fingers on the various paper clips on my desk. I then look up to the ceiling and say: “Well, for starters, it’s wise to go to the place where this crime occurred. There’s sure to be some kind of evidence there that can help us piece this up. But I’m going to the crime scene alone.” Derek stands up and pounds his fist on the desk: “Why can’t we go with you!?” I glare at him and say: “Do not argue with me Derek. I know what I’m doing. If I require of your assistance again, I’ll contact you.” Rose then stands up and says: “Vincent’s right Derek, we should let him get into this first and then contact us.” Derek stays silent and he just turns away. I then get some papers and write down my phone number and give it to Derek, and then I turn toward rose and ask: “Do you have any sort of machine that can record data so that you can have my number?” She nods and says: “Yeah, my phone has a voice recorder/voice command calling method so I can call anyone by just saying their name.” I nod and then she gives it to me and I say my phone number and the phone records it. I then ask her: “Where was the crime committed?” She responds: “On Route 59.” I nod and then we get out of the house and then I drive them back to the city. I nod and say: “Thank you for your help, I’ll be sure to contact you again real soon.” And so I drive towards Route 59. I will solve this case, of that I’m sure. (End Song Here) ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Let me know what you all thought of the chapter! Weiss 8,279 Posted March 23, 2013 Great chapters lately. This has been getting great. And to answer your question third and first perspective are just different styles so it just comes down to taste. I personally prefer first person perspectives but either way I'm finding this story to be great so far. 1 The Transcendent Key reacted to this

And to answer your question third and first perspective are just different styles so it just comes down to taste. I personally prefer first person perspectives but either way I'm finding this story to be great so far. Thanks, I'm happy to know that you like how the story is coming along! And yes, I think that first person is the best perspective in this story. I hope you continue to keep on reading. I'll do my best to deliver interesting and intriguing chapters. ^_^ Edited March 23, 2013 by Sesshomaru

The Transcendent Key 12,109 Posted March 24, 2013 Once again everyone, thank you for your comments! They really mean a lot to me, and they give me even more motivation to write! Okay then, here's the next chapter! Chapter Six: Findings I drive down the city and I head towards the countryside, making my way towards Route 59. The road leads to a lush woodland landscape. By looking at the area, it makes sense for the murderer to have killed Tyler and his mother in this route, given the fact that there are no nearby homes and that the murderer could probably have run off into the forest. I keep driving for thirty more minutes until I arrive to the crime scene. There, a few cops are scouring the area, and then one of them spots me and asks me: "Who are you, and what's your business here?" I glare at him and show him my badge. He then clears his throat and says: "Oh, sorry, I didn't know it was you Vincent. Please, come this way." I park the car and get out and then I walk with the policeman and then I ask: "What's the status so far?" He turns around to face me and then says with a sigh: "Well, not much, aside from the bodies that were placed here in these bushes. But other than that, there seems to be no other kind of trace of that goddamn murderer." I analyze his answer and then I walk around the crime scene, investigating every nook and cranny, until something catches my eye. I find a necklace, and a piece of what seems to be Tyler's bloodstained shirt. I then call out to the cops and tell them to come close. I then look at them and reply: "Gentlemen, it seems we've found ourselves some valuable pieces of evidence that could help us find the murderer." One of the cops scratches his head confusingly and asks: "But how? What good will the necklace do? I mean sure, the shirt has the murderer's blood, but what good will a necklace do?" I look at them and then say: "Every piece of evidence is immensely valuable, no matter how small or big it may seem. Let me ask you, did Tyler have any knife wounds or bullet wounds when you found his body?" The police nod no. Then I close my eyes and think: "Hmm, then in the case of Tyler's bloodstained shirt, I can only assume that Tyler struggled to get away from the murderer, but the murderer stained his own blood on Tyler to intimidate him. And apparently from what I see of this necklace, Tyler's mother tried to protect her child, but then the murderer tore the necklace from her neck. By the way, another question. Were there any bullet or knife wounds on Tyler's mother?" Again, the police nod no, and then I reply: "Then they both must have been choked to death. Hmm, interesting. Gentlemen, I'll take these pieces of evidence to my private office to conduct more research." The policeman says: "Okay, we're counting on you." Then, I get in my car and head towards my home. On the way home, I find that my thoughts slowly drift towards Rose...I suddenly lose myself in my thoughts, and I think about how gentle she looks, and how her personality reflects a girl that isn't afraid to do what's right. I then remember her face, her beautiful body, her charming voice. Everything about her invades my mind...but then I quickly shake my head and brush off the thoughts. She may be beautiful, she may be emotionally scarred by the events that have happened, but I know that she's hiding something from me. And I have to get to the bottom of it. If there's anything I've learned from my years in this job, is that no one is who they seem they are. And that's something that I've seen throughout the years. (Start Song Here) After a few minutes, I arrive home and put my things in my room, and I put the pieces of evidence in my office, and then I sit down in my desk. I think for a while about how this murder came into being. It all puzzles me. It's by far one of the cases that I've found difficulty in solving, but then again, I've always loved a challenge. I'm about to get a cup of water, when all of a sudden, I find myself jumping back a considerable amount of steps, as I see a strange hooded man. His robe is black, and he has a hat that reminds me of the Undertaker. I blink my eyes a few times, thinking that I'm just seeing things, and when I open my eyes anew, he's no longer there. Then, all of a sudden, I hear a voice behind me: "You know Vincent, you are quite the detective." I scream and flail back and keep my eyes fixed upon the strange man. His voice is that of an old man. I then ask: "Who the hell are you, and how the hell did you get into my office?" The old man laughs and he simply walks around me in circles and says: "I am Bertram ShadowHeart, and as for how I came here, that's no concern of yours. But, what I can tell you, is that your destiny is linked to that of Rose Everdawn." I then gasp and say: "What do you know about her!?" The old man sits down as if he was in his own home, and then he cleans his shoes and says: "If you want to learn more, I suggest you ask her yourself. Oh, and by the way, you should take a look at that necklace you found..." I look towards the necklace and then I look back, and just like that, the old man is gone... I then shake my head in disbelief and then wonder to myself if I'm going insane. But, as this Bertram told me, I took a look at the necklace and then I opened it. Then I saw a disturbing message written in blood. I get my magnifying glass to make sure that I'm not seeing things. But I realize that what I'm seeing is in fact, real. The message says: "When your eyes awaken, your world will be taken." I then close the necklace and reflect upon this message. Either the damn murderer is an Anti-Christ, or he's some sort of end of the world madman. Either way, I put the necklace in my drawer and then examine the piece of Tyler's bloodstained shirt. I extract the dry blood with a special machine I have, and then I make the blood wet again and place it in a container and put it in a safe. I then close my office and then make my way towards my living room. I stay there, thinking hours upon hours on what that message could possibly mean. Who in the world would make such an insane message? After a while, I find my thoughts drifting towards Rose again, and then I think of the words that Bertram told me: "If you want to know more about her, ask her yourself..." I consider calling her, but then I dismiss the thought. I'm still on the pre-phase of my investigation, so I can't jump to conclusions yet. There are still things that are not yet understandable, and I can't make any solid assumptions yet. And so I simply go and take a shower, and then I go to sleep. And, surprisingly, I find myself dreaming about Rose... (End Song Here) --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- So guys, what did you think of the chapter? Sorry if it seemed short, but I wrote in a bit of a hurry since my Mom and my Stepdad are going out, so I won't have my laptop with me for practically all day. The Transcendent Key 12,109 Posted March 25, 2013 (edited) Hey guys, here’s another chapter! As you can see, I’m doing my best to post chapters daily, and for now, I’ve been able to post chapters every day. Well then, without further ado my fellow readers, I present to you the next chapter! Chapter Seven: Call I wake up at 9:30AM to the noise of my alarm clock. I drowsily rub my eyes and sit on my bed, still thinking about Rose. I couldn’t get her out of my mind…all I could do was dream of her last night. But, I ask myself, why? I barely even know her, and yet, just by thinking about her, I feel goose bumps, and my heart beats fiercely whenever she crosses my mind. I sigh and stand up and brush my teeth and then I go to the kitchen and open the windows, taking a moment to bask in the rays of the sun, feeling its warmth envelop me. Then I go to the kitchen and make myself some Toast and Scrambled Eggs and I serve myself a glass of Orange Juice. After I finish eating, I decided to head out for a walk. I go out of the door and start walking through the various streets and parks. Then the streets start to fill up with the everyday people going about their business. (Start Song Here) After a few minutes, I start to feel an immense headache. At first I ignore the pain, but then it gets stronger. I still try to ignore it, but then, I suddenly find myself completely numb and then I fall to the ground. When I open my eyes, I’m no longer in the ground, but rather, I seem to be in a place where only darkness exists. I look around trying to reassure myself of where I am, and then it hits me…I’m in my subconscious. I’m in my own dream. I then hear Bertram’s voice getting closer to me, and when I turn around, I see him standing before me, apparently amused. He chuckles and pats my shoulder and then he starts to disappear and reappear at will. I’m amazed by his ability, but then I refocus on the matter at hand and ask: “You again! What do you want now?” Bertram looks at me, and then he looks up and says: “Hmm, nothing in particular really. I just want to talk.” I roll my eyes and sigh: “Look Mr. Dark and Gruesome, we both know that this is my dream, and if you’re in my mind, then it has to be for something…” Bertram looks at me and then he laughs with much joy and then he points his finger at me: “Ah, aren’t you the clever one? But good, good, you know that you are in your dream. And well, I guess since we’re here in your subconscious, I should get to my point already.” I nod and wave my arms in a gentleman fashion and say: “Please, proceed.” Bertram then folds his arms and says: “I’m here to check up on you. You seemed to be shaken up by the message you read in the necklace.” I look at him and close my eyes: “The message was indeed shocking, but it’s not anything you have to worry about though. I’m fine. But the message is quite…insane.” Bertram nods and then says: “That’s the point. For you see, there are forces here at work that no one understands. Things that are incomprehensible to the human instinct, or perhaps for any other kind of instinct for that matter. But, as I’ve watched you quietly, I’ve seen that you are a young man capable of getting to the bottom of things.” I nod and fold my arms and look at him and say: “Uh, yeah, that’s kind of basically what I do. I’m a detective, so I’m supposed to get to the bottom of things.” Bertram chuckles and keeps his gaze fixed upon me: “Hold your horses Mr. Sherlock. Don’t be so literal on me, just hear me out.” I nod, urging him to continue. Bertram then says: “As you know, the world is corrupt, and there is no true justice. These are things we know to be true. But, there are things that you can do that can make a difference. You are a man who is not afraid of a challenge. And so, I have a task for you. Protect Rose Everdawn, for she is more special than both of us can even begin to realize.” I gasp and then ask: “What do you mean by that?” He then replies and says: “That’s for you to find out.” I angrily say to him: “Cut the crap with the riddles and just get to the point!” But, in that instant, I open my eyes, and I’m no longer in my subconscious. A few people surround me, and they ask me if I’m all right. I say that I’m fine and I stand up and then keep walking. My mind keeps recalling back to the conversation I just had with Bertram. Then I think back to the strange message. What could it mean? I brush off the thoughts and then head home. (End Song Here) Before I open the door, I stop and think for a moment about Rose. Again, she invades my mind. It’s mind boggling to me, since I’ve never felt this way for a woman before. Could it be that she’s the one whom I’ve been looking for? I smile and chuckle to myself: “Wow, I’m really in a rut here, aren’t I?” I then open the door and head to my office to see if I can decipher the strange message on the necklace. I sit down and take out my magnifying glass, analyzing every trace of blood that composes the message on that necklace. It seems as though the message seems to be referring to someone. “When your eyes awaken, your world will be taken.” But, at the same time, it seems as a challenge to the world at large. I keep wondering about this until I hear my cell phone ring. I then answer and say: “Vincent Grace here.” Then I hear Rose’s voice. She says: “Vincent, I need you to come home. I need to talk to you.” I then answer: “Is Derek with you?” She stays silent for a moment and then she says: “No, he’s not here. Please, I need you to come home. I have to tell you everything about my past…” I take a few seconds to respond, and then I say: “Are you sure that you want to do this now?” I hear her voice turn more confident and then she says: “Yes, I’m sure. I’ll do anything to help you solve this case. I need to do this for Tyler. Come home at 4:00PM, I’ll tell you everything. Good bye.” I nod and say: “Okay, will do.” After a few seconds, she hangs up. I then sit back on my chair and close my eyes, and then I find myself blushing. I then think to myself: “What are you thinking you fool, she’s going to tell you about her past, and nothing else. Don’t be so silly and stop blushing.” I then go and take a quick shower, and then I get properly dressed and I bring my notepad just in case I have to take notes when Rose talks to me. Yeah…I have a habit of taking notes. Oh well, I guess it just comes with being a detective. But, all I can think of now, is finally being able to talk to Rose face to face. With no shyness or any other thing to come between us. I had been anticipating her call all along. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- So guys, what did you think? Please comment below! And by the way, the next Chapter will be from Rose’s point of view! The Transcendent Key 12,109 Posted March 26, 2013 Ladies and gentlemen, here is the next chapter! Remember that it’s from Rose’s point of view! Enjoy the chapter everyone! Chapter Eight: Communication I sit on the couch and I think for a long time. I don’t know why I called Vincent. I don’t know why I had the urge to call him and explain everything. Maybe, just maybe, if I tell him everything about me, my heart can finally be able to let go of all this baggage I’ve carried with me all my life. But it’s also because I feel like I can trust him. Like I know that I can be around him without feeling uncomfortable. It remains to be seen if this meeting will turn out the way I expect. My heart pounds as I think about him. It’s like my heart wants the sensation of feeling his heart. At first I think it absurd, but then…I think…why not? I quickly face palm myself and then I lay on the couch for a long while. At 4:00PM, I hear a knock on the door. “It’s Vincent.” I think to myself. I approach the door slowly and then ask: “Who’s there?” I then hear Vincent’s voice say: “It’s me.” I then nod and open the door and I welcome him to my apartment. I shrug and sit on the couch and say: “I know that it isn’t much, but make yourself at home.” I feel his steps going around the room. Apparently he’s examining the apartment. I then hear him say: “You have quite a nice apartment you know.” I smile and say: “Thanks.” It’s strange though. Right now I don’t feel nervous around him. My nerves seem to be unnaturally calmed down. I then clear my throat and urge him to sit, and then I bow my head down: “Look, before I tell you everything, please don’t judge. I’ve been through a lot, so try to understand me…” I hear his voice and he says: “Don’t worry. I won’t judge. Please, proceed.” I sigh and then I tell him about what happened during my life, the horrible childhood I went through, the times when I would be left alone, with no one to care for me…I told him every last detail. And then…I told him about Wade. I told him about how I thought I could trust Wade, but in the end he had raped me. Vincent was silent the whole time I was telling him everything, and he didn’t once interrupt me. I then took a breath and then talked in almost a whisper: “And that’s my story. As you can see, this case about Tyler brought back the memories, and I think that Wade might be behind all this.” The room is filled with silence for a few brief seconds, and then I feel his hand gently touch mine. At first I flinch, but then I let him caress my hand. He talks to me in a soft voice: “I’m sorry that you’ve had to go through such a horrible life. I knew that you had some emotional baggage with you, but this, this just defied my expectations. I can’t even begin to imagine how it must feel. But look, the past is the past. You have to focus on the present and the future. If you keep thinking about the past, it will destroy you. You have to learn to face your past, for then, and only then, can you have at least some measure of peace in your heart.” I remain speechless by his words, and I get even more speechless as I still let him caress my hand. I don’t want him to touch me…but at the same time, I can’t seem to resist his touch. His hands are firm but gentle, assuring me that he’s not the kind of guy that goes on fooling around with other women. And the way he talks to me, with such attention and subtlety…it’s just to surreal. Could it be….that I’m falling in love with him? I hear him clear his throat and then he says: “Rose, if there’s anything you ever need, you can just call me, and I’ll do my best to help you. You’re not alone. I’m here for you.” I blush and then I say: “Thank you Vincent. I feel a lot better now. And, to tell you the truth, I don’t feel so paranoid about my past anymore since I talked to you about it.” I hear him lean back on the couch and then he says: “That’s why it’s good to talk. Communication is one of the best therapies for the human mind. Through communication, you can let out your emotions. Your hopes, dreams, fears, thoughts. Believe me, communicating can make you feel better more than you could think.” I think about what he said, and then I nod and smile and say: “Yes, your right.” (Start Song Here) Over the next few hours I ask him about his job and about how he does his daily things. He explains how his daily routine goes, and he tells me of his personal thoughts and his opinion on the state of things. As the hours go by, I start to feel more attracted to him. He seems to be an honorable man, who doesn’t take life too seriously, but also doesn’t make a joke out of it either. He strikes a perfect balance. And when he talks, his voice sounds so fulfilling, but with a tint of sorrow. He tells me about his personal life and about how he never had a girlfriend. It was so heartwarming the way he told me everything. I gradually became even more attracted to him. I then ask him a random question: “So Vincent, what is your favorite rock band?” I hear Vincent chuckle and he says: “System of a Down, without a doubt. I like the way they sing. They’re crazy and random, but their songs talk about how corrupt the politicians are, and how messed up the world is. Long story short, their songs talk about our devastated little world.” I then nod and say: “Hmm, they sound interesting, you should bring me a song of theirs sometime. Okay then, another random question. Hmm, let’s see. Oh, I’ve got it! What’s your favorite video game or video game series?” I then hear him stand up and he says: “Kingdom Hearts, hands down. I love that video game series. It shows a lot of good lessons, such as the strong bonds of friendship, and how they can survive even the harshest darkness. I love the story, the various villains, and I love the music. It’s cool.” I then giggle and say: “Wow, you’re such a nerd.” I then hear him chuckle and he says: “Yep. I’m a nerd and I’m proud of it.” We keep on talking and the hours continue to go on by. After a while, my small machine beeped and told me that it’s already 10:30PM. I was so caught up talking to Vincent that we both lost track of time. I heard him stand up and then he said: “Well, it’s late, I should be going now.” I reply softly: “Yeah…” My mind is focused on him, my heart is telling me to make him stay, but at the same time I stop myself, because I’m not ready for this. I’ve never been in a relationship, and I want to know how to work things out before even thinking about it. And besides…what good will it do for me and him to be together if there’s a damn serial killer loose? I stutter a bit and I ask: “Will I see you again soon? I hear him breathe softly and he puts his arms on my shoulders and then he says: “Definitely, and besides, I’ll need your help on this case.” I then nod and say: “I enjoyed talking to you.” I felt his hand gently squeeze mine, and he said: “Me too.” He then leaves and closes the door. I felt such a seductive tone in his voice, an indication of desire, and indication that he does have an interest in me. I can’t deny the feeling, because I’m starting to have feelings for him. I know that it’s stupid, since I barely know him. But he seems to be so perfect. Suddenly, I feel my body heat up, and then I realize that I’m feeling something that I thought I would never feel….pleasure. The Transcendent Key 12,109 Posted March 27, 2013 (edited) Thank you all once again for your awesome comments! I get a big smile on my face every time I see your comments! Now then, here is the next chapter, enjoy! And remember that this chapter is from Rose’s point of view. Chapter Nine: Desire The next day, I head downtown in search of Vincent. I ask a few people here and there and ask them if they have seen him. They reply that the last place they saw him was at Starbucks. I then said to myself: “Starbucks, huh? Well, I guess I’ll just have to ask someone to take me there.” I then walk through the crowds until I overhear what apparently seems to be news reporter talking about some new scientific discovery. After she finishes talking, I head towards her and ask: “Excuse me, could you take me to Starbucks? I’ve been able to find my way around here, but I’ve never been to Starbucks before, so can you guide me there?” I hear the woman step towards me, and then she replies: “Oh I see, your blind. Oh, you poor dear, of course I’ll take you to Starbucks!” She then tells me to follow her, and I walk by her side until we reach Starbucks. I then thank her and we part ways. My heart starts to pound faster…I feel a sudden surge of excitement take over me. I want to be with Vincent again. Then I make my way towards the door and go in. And, just on cue, I hear Vincent approach me. He replies in a happy tone: “Good morning Rose. I’m surprised that you’re here. How are you?” I then feel his hand hold mine, and I blush and say: “I’m good thanks. I was actually looking for you.” I then feel his hand on my shoulder, and as before, I don’t flinch by his touch. He then says: “Well, you found me. Come over here, I’ll buy you some coffee, how does that sound?” I smile and put a strand of my hair behind my ear and say: “Sure, that would be great.” We then sit down on the table and then he gets me my coffee, and then I slowly sip my cup. I then ask him: “Any luck on the investigation?” I then feel the seriousness in his tone of voice as he says: “Nothing yet. But I’m curious. Yesterday you talked to me about this Wade person. It could be possible that he’s the one who murdered Tyler, but I checked the blood sample I extracted from a bloodstained piece of his shirt. I analyzed it and the computer detected his blood, but not from him. According to police reports, Wade died four years ago, apparently he committed suicide.” I gasp when he says this and I almost spill my coffee cup. I then calm down and think to myself: “He’s dead. The bastard is dead. Good riddance!” I then ask: “Are you sure that he’s dead?” I then hear him sip his coffee cup and he says: “Yes. And I checked all possible fake identities and documents, but this is official. He’s dead. Which means that the person who committed Tyler’s murder is Wade’s relative, but be it his cousin, brother, father, or anyone else is beyond my knowledge. But at least we have a lead. Now we just have to find out who it is.” I then nod and say: “If there’s anything I can do to help you, please let me know, and I’ll do my best.” Then I feel his hand gently caress mine. Once again I feel my body heat up and I feel such pleasure from his touch…I almost moan, but then I hold it back, and I simply blush. He then says: “Actually, there’s something I need your help with. Come with me.” I simply nod and blush even more as I realize that he’s still holding my hand. We go out of Starbucks and keep walking. I then ask: “Where are we going?” He then says: “We’ll go to my car and then we go towards the center of the city.” I nod and then we get in his car, and he starts the engine. He then says: “Also, there’s something I’ve been meaning to ask you. I forgot to ask you about it yesterday.” I nod and reply: “What is it?” He then sighs, and I detect some nervousness in his voice. He then says: “You wouldn’t believe me if I told you. But anyways, look, lately, there’s this old man, well, I’m beginning to think it’s some sort of ghost, named Bertram. He’s been telling me that you and I are linked.” I then gasp and say: “He’s talked to me too! He told me that something would happen to me, but he didn’t say when or where it would happen.” We then both remain silent, and then he says: “There’s something at work here that we don’t understand. What it may be, I don’t know, but we met each other for a reason.” I nod silently and then he keeps driving. My mind drifts to Vincent, and I shudder when I think of the way he touches me. I crave his touch…I want more. But at the same time, I want to hold back, because I don’t want to screw things up between us. I then blush and my body starts to heat up slowly. My body craves his touch. I then think to myself: “Are you insane!? What the hell is the matter with you!?” But another part of me says: “Rose, he’ll be the one that heals your heart.” I then struggle to maintain calm, and I brush off the thoughts. (Start Song Here) Then I feel the car come to a stop, and then Vincent says: “We’re here. Now come on.” He then holds my hand again and we walk for a few minutes, until he tells me to stop. Then I hear footsteps coming from the horizon. Then I hear another man’s voice in the distance, and Vincent whispers to me and says: “Stay sharp, and stay behind me.” I nod and get behind Vincent, and then I hear the other man’s voice talking in a somewhat mocking tone. The man says: “Well well, if it isn’t the great detective Vincent! What brings you here to this part of the city?” I then hear Vincent growl angrily and he says: “Cut the crap, I’m here to ask you if you know a relative of a man named Wade.” I then hear the other man laugh and then he yells: “Oh no, Mister L here is going to hunt down Wade’s relatives! The horror!” Then I hear other men laughing, apparently there are a lot of thugs accompanying the man.” Vincent then says: “If you don’t talk, I’ll make you.” The other man then says: “Save your breath detective, even if we did know about Wade’s relatives, we wouldn’t rat him out to you!” Then Vincent says: “Tell me what you know now!” The other man says: “Over my dead body!” Then Vincent cracks his knuckles and says: “That can be arranged!” I then scream and command them to stop. A sudden silence looms over all of us. Then I go in front of Vincent and speak to the man and say: “Please, we need your help. A little boy named Tyler was murdered by one of Wade’s relatives, and we need to bring him to justice. If you would help us, we’d be extremely grateful.” I hear Vincent whisper my name: “Rose…” A few brief seconds of silence then breaks out into laughter, as all the men surrounding us laugh mockingly. Then the man says: “Awww, the poor little woman here needs to know who killed her little friend! Isn’t that touching?” Then I hear Vincent growl angrily and he gently puts me aside and then he shouts to the other man: “This isn’t a joke! Stop this crap!” Then the laughter stops, and then the other man says: “Make me stop pretty boy.” And then, in a split second, I hear a sickening crack of bones, and then the other man screams in pain: “Ahhh, the bastard broke my jaw! Kill him!” Then I hear them come closer and then I say: “Oh boy.” But, good thing I have my trust knife and Vincent with me. All I can say is, let the funfest being, bring it on! (End Song Here) --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I hope you guys enjoyed the chapter!
