Zola 3,038 Posted March 18, 2013 The worst thing EVER for me was my first play-through of Final Fantasy II when I got stuck in the very first dungeon, with no items, only Maria alive with about 9 hp left, and the steps were counted between random battles on the version I was playing, AND I WAS DUMB ENOUGH TO SAVE, so that when I turned it on, I would take two steps, get into one of the same two random battles, and die. EVERY TIME. I finally got the hint and started the whole game over. At least I was still close to the beginning, though. Other than that, I'm alright with first play-throughs. I actually sort of like getting a little lost once in a while. 1 CloakedSchemerX reacted to this
rikunobodyxiii 700 Posted March 18, 2013 Depends on the game. CloakedSchemerX voices a big one. If it's the type of game where you make choices that effect story, party, etc., I tend to get frustrated when I can't figure out how to get the optimum (in my mind) outcome. dusk 910 Posted March 18, 2013 Well the first playthrough is my favorite generally, but lately I have been playing some Dark Souls and I admit how much I have just wandered around and trying to seek the safest route for me to take and I have lost my souls so countless times that I can't even count. (yeah I am stupid enough to go and die in same spot for same black knight twice in row because I am creedy bastard)
RoxSox 3,593 Posted March 18, 2013 The fact that I am losing my virginity for that game. Once you've played a game, you will never have that first time again...especially true for games that are amazing, but have a short campaign.
ReverofE 698 Posted March 18, 2013 For me its following walkthroughs <_<. I suffer from perfectionism whenever I play the first time and wish to collect everything while trying to know the story. This leads to disastrous results.

razuthor72 89 Posted March 19, 2013 My problem is that I go to play another game for a while like months and then come back to that game and I'm like "WHERE AM I? WHAT DO?!?" Familiarity is such a nice thing in certain games lol 1 Ace326 reacted to this
Ace326 79 Posted March 21, 2013 Probably being OCD about getting 100% completions when it is not possible due to the lack of an item or weapon (like in DMC)
mikethegamer 53 Posted March 21, 2013 (edited) Well quick time events on a first time playthrough are a pain. Especially in a game like Uncharted 2 where it's meant to be cinematic. Actually, any first time playthrough of any Uncharted game has had numerous deaths where there'll be a set piece going off and I'll die because I couldn't find the linear path to escape -_- I also hate it when a game throws its entire mythology at me and confuses me horribly. That's usually only JRPG's that do that. I also hate scripted battles. Well I don't exactly hate them once I realize it's scripted, but when it's a first time playthrough and a scripted battle sequence happens and I think I'm going to lose I start to panic. Persona 4's final boss did that to me. It nearly gave me a heart attack. Edited March 21, 2013 by mikethegamer

advfox 698 Posted March 23, 2013 I don't have a sense of direction, and I don't understand the game mechanics completely yet. But I still think the first is always the most exciting.
