Well as the title said, any way the story for me is not confusing at all,its really easy when u get into to it,then again for ppl with not enough time i guess its had to understand,BTW i have played every kh game that made it in english, and read every report/got all the secret ending, simply i 100% kh games.Anyway what do u think about the storyline of kh?Oh,and if this looks like i'm bashing the story, don't get me wrong i love, even re:coded/days and chain/re chain of memories,I was just reading a few posts and saw ppl saying they didn't really understand the story so well so i made this topic,I mean if i was bashing it why would i be here on a kh website. As i said before what do u think?

Not really. I got a bit of confusion for DDD but it was cleared up pretty quickly

This^

DDD was a little confusing on how Riku became a Dream Eater, but otherwise i understand the story fine.

I mean, once you understand FF story lines, KH is pretty simple.

The majority of people saying it's too confusing to understand and enjoy are the same people who got pissed and left the series years ago because they started releasing the games on handhelds they didn't own, so missed half the information that linked the main games and just desperately cry all the time for KH3 choosing to ignore the handheld games.  "Fans" need to know the fact they're on a handheld doesn't automatically make them a side game.  When you play through them all the only thing that's mind boggling is their rules of time travel.

While the plot can be understood and explained in its own right, I think it needs some streamlining and trimming. Right now, there are too many moving parts on the machine. There needs to be some focus on what story is being told, and what we want that story to mean.

I think people who thought it was a Disney game at first were confused.

I get slightly confused when I play a new KH game only for it to be clarified later on in (usually) the same game.

I think for the dedicated fans it isn't too hard to understand, but I wonder how accessible the storyline is to people with mild interest in the games...

na it was ok if you undersand the plots from the other games, and kh3d patched some questions, and added some too :(

... it also helps putting your own theries, but series was mostly understandable if you played the other games

I played the games in the order they were released (mind you, I never actually played Re:coded or finished 358 Days - but I DID watch a playthrough), and everything was crystal clear to me. I think people may be very confused if they don't read the reports you collect in-game and actually look at their journal. Literally everything is explained in summary form in those journals, you just have to keep in mind they were written by characters who may have been misinformed or running on theories alone (DiZ, I'm looking at you).Parts may appear contradictory, but that ends up being both intentional and integral to the plot - Ansem not being Ansem, a 14th Organization member, whether Nobodies can feel emotions/have hearts.BBS - What made you think you can trust him? Xehanort is bad.

KH1 - Who knew darkness was bad? Ansem is bad. And Riku nearly became the next Terra. Sora has awesome dumb luck at winning the day.

CoM - No one's going to remember you but Riku, Namine. Oh and Ansem's back.

358 - Definitely no one is going to remember you, Xion. Roxas likes icecream. Ventus cameo. No mention of Vanitas.

KH2 - Did we forget about Kairi? Too busy to tell her we still exist? Yup. Hey did you know Ansem was Xehanort? Also, Xemnas. And we have anti!form.

coded - So apparently data and stuff is contradictory for reals. Maybe we can help people from the prequel now that we know they existed.

DDD - Random Vanitas cameo. I'm sure this will have no impact on reality. Right? Right...?? Oh hell no... why did we end with that?Which very clearly leads me to believe:

KH3 - Nooooooooo. Xehanort, WHY? Oh, but Kairi is useful now, kk.

No, in all seriousness, I understand the series way better than that, but so long as people can understand the above, they're doing pretty good.

I didn't have a problem following the plot, but lack of long term story planning is killer on long running franchises.  I also think the direction since KH2 has been really scattered (3 titles focusing on different time periods and characters) made it confusing for the casual fans.  DDD was the biggest offender of this since it had to smooth out all the differences and retcon certain elements of KH1.

I have no problem following the main plot, it's a fantastic story. It's just very badly told at times. You really shouldn't need extra reading material to understand whats going on. They don't had out a glossary to you when go to see a movie. Elements like Vanitas' appearance and Sora's ability to dual wield are all parts of the narrative that are never directly explained during the main game, you can find these answers out if you look hard enough for them but you shouldn't have to. Thats my only criticism. What I do commend the Kingdom Hearts series for doing is teasing us with secret endings. Few games do that these days. And they always keep you guessing. :D

It's pretty fun to try and understand because there is so much to analyze. It's not the perfect story (Due to lack of fore planning) but it's fun to come up with wacky theories about what is gonna happen and what not. How things will end up. Nomura also wanted this, so the fans would remain connected to the story, even if the fans Canon doesn't match up with the canon of the actual story when it's revealed. And it's cool to see how close your theories were when the game is eventually released~ Maybe some fans had parts of the story spot on before the game progressed. I dunno.

the only thing i think i don't understand is the time travel bit, which has been explained to me, but i still don't think i completely understand it lol and whether or not Xehanort lost his memories, cuz i can see that ansem and xemnas definitely have his memories, but why would xehanort pointlessly write reports and pose as his "teacher" and why would Xemnas go up to Roxas's bed while he is sleeping and say "Sleep takes you again" or soemthing like that. Well then again terra shouldnt know about ven sleeping lol
