Final Fantasy 8 is the true "WORST" FF game ever made

Good God,at first I was excited when I heard of all the praise this game has got and I bought it from PSN to play it,oooh my dear 9 dollars I wasted on this crap

 

The plot.....the plot of this game is like Sonic 06 before sonic 06 only it's less worse.The plot makes 0 sense the more you progress through the game and I'll give few examples.

 

1Laguna's backstory has no relevant or effect on the overall plot whatsoever.At first you might think this would explain the origins of Squall....but no it barely does that and it doesn't explain any useful thing in the plot except Adel being sealed.

 

2All characters used to live together in the orphanage but no one remembers each other at all because they used GF(summons)....and the only one who remember is Irvine...who couldn't open his mouth through the entire game until near the end when he could've told them MUCH EARLIER.Oh and guess who raised them??? Sorceress Edea ,whom Irvine was fine with assassinating her despite she raised him and the others but because the plot is inconsistent none of that will make sense

 

3The plan to stop Ultimecia from destroying time ....is to let her destroy it so they can reach her castle in the future......How does that make sense????What kind of f*cked up plan is this???And if that plan was obvious all this time then wouldn't that make your struggle through the game meaningless????

 

and the last example:

 

4Ultimecia's reason for destroying time is F*cking stupid...in fact she has no reason at all...she want to compress PastPresentFuture so she would be the only one remaining in existence......No revenge....no conquering the world....no insanity like Kefka(who likes destruction which makes sense)....She just want to be a d*ck.....wow...just wow

 

 

and that's just few of the MANY flaws you can find in this bad excuse of a story.......the characters are even worse

 

Squall is an annoying emo who won't stop bitching through the entire game

 

Zell is dumb more than a Psyduck

 

Seifer joined Edea just because she said "you're just a boy"......REALLY????After along career with SeeD you would think his betrayel would be epic.....but no he just said "I'M NOT A BOY" and he just joined her

 

Selphie is an annoying girl who is just as dumb as Zell

 

Irvine is just there for an additional character in your party and his actions are random and stupid..........uhhhh I don't wanna go furthur....

 

in short....FF8 plot is a Sonic 06 bad...(Now I know from where Sega got the inspiration on how to do a non-sensical plot)

 

And don't get me start on the gameplay and the stupid Junction and Draw systems that makes you stay in your menu for hours and the stupid Draw system that you need in order to obtain Magic and when the magic runs out...you have to do it again....worse part...everytime your party split and unite...you have to change their equipments and junctions over & over & over again everytime your party changes...sure they're fast ways to do it but the fact that you need to do it everytime your party changes is a bullshit chore.

 

Not to mention the boring level design of the dungeons: the Drill jail where Squall was tortured is just identical floor after identical floor after identical floor......y'know what I'm gonna shut up....y'know Spoony....TheSpoony one absolutely despise FF8 and he already done a 9 part review of it but I'm gonna link part 7 of it right here and you're free to see the other parts if you want.

Bottomline....Final Fantasy 8 is one of the worst most boring most reptitive grinding menu scrolling overflown dialouged RPGs I ever played in my entire life....the only thing that saved the game from being a Sonic 06 level of bad is that is doesn't have alot of glitches and some of the music are good

 

 

I know a lot of the FF fanbase will issue a sacred order to kill me for saying my opinion about this game since they don't know the meaning of the word "Opinion" and they'll protect 7 & 8 no matter what and they'll crossify me on FFXIII's logo of shame that they had in their champer but I don't care....I said my opinion...no one is forced to follow it and no one is forced to be offended by it

He took his opinion about x and XIII back but he said he still hates FF8 so much....he likes FF7 though

I enjoy VIII a lot. You can't really compare it to Sonic 06. They aren't comparable. But you are entitled to your opinion. Out of all the Final Fantasy games, that I have played, the only one I didn't like was XII. But I am easy to please when it comes to video games.

XII is one of my very favorites.  I really loved the perspective it had, perspective so much bigger than just the characters.  The huge amount of detail put into it, plot or otherwise, helped a bit too, along with the freedom it gave you to mess around.

I mostly play games for the stories, but the most frustrating part of VIII for me was the battle system. It seemed like no matter what I did, I couldn't get my characters strong at all. I made it to the final castle but then got myself in a trap where I basically couldn't make it to the end unless I spent years level grinding. I hate not finishing games, but VIII was just too frustrating for me to complete.

VIII runs into the same hurdles that hindered X to some degree.

 

The core story and central characters are very good. The story is clearly about Squall, his emotional detachment, and how he overcomes his past, his emotional barriers, and learns to welcome the world back in. I love his relationship with Seifer, and the entire dynamic they have going: for all intents and purposes, Siefer ought to be the hero, but he is ultimately hamstrung by an inverse of the problem that Squall has: he desires love and attention too much, and can never be satisfied with just being in the supporting role. The two then grow in opposite ways, with Squall slowly opening his heart, and with Seifer's rapidly disintegrating into jealousy and corruption as he cannot understand why he cannot be the hero of the game. Squall, for all his attempts at pretending he doesn't need love, is able to accept it and know it better than Siefer.

 

 

The problem is in the rest of the supporting cast and some elements of the plot. Most of the party could have used with some more development in their story arcs and characters, and the plot could have used some trimming and editing. It just needed to be streamlined a bit more.

Laguna's backstory was Ellone's attempt to try and change the past, her past. She was unhappy with the past and wanted to change it. She wanted Raine ( Squall's Mother ) to survive and not die when she was giving birth to Squall. She didn't want Laguna to stay in Esthar, she wanted to him to stay with her, Raine and baby Squall. But she realized that what is most important is now. And Ellone is Squall's step-sister and Laguna is Squall's Father, so no.

Irvine didn't open his mouth, out of fear that nobody would believe him. If he opened about it, everybody would look at him like he was insane, hence they don't remember. Irvine was NOT fine with assassinating her. He was breaking apart during the parade, and he was crumbling. He didn't want to shoot her at all, but he had too, since she was a danger. Irvine is a hired sniper and it's his job to target down those who are dangerous, which was Edea. Cid and his workers warn you about the threats of using GF's at the beginning of the game.

Ultimecia learnt a prophecy [ Think Harry Potter ] that one day a legendary SeeD [ Squall ] will come and kill her, hence she uses Edea and Rinoa during Squall's time, to try and kill all SeeD's before Ultimecia's time. It wasn't obvious, because they had no idea that Ultimecia was using Edea, until Edea became free of her control.

Did you ever see her make a mockery of the Galabdia Army during the Missile Base mission ? She made them all look like morons. Dumb, she isn't. Cheerful,however she is.

Irvine was one of the most important characters in the game. Him having to shoot Edea is one of the most saddest moments in the game, and he was the one that brought everybody together again.

Actually alot of Final Fantasy fans do understand the concept of opinion, though some just ruin it. I told somebody that I didn't like Aerith from Final Fantasy VII one time and her fans just flamed me to the death, just because I didn't like the character that they like. The FF fandom can be harsh, but not all of them are.

 

To be honest I didn't really get too annoyed until you deemed that Squall was " emo " just because he was struggling with the idea of trusting others. You do realize that Final Fantasy XIII has quite alot of fans and lovers right ??

 

That's fine, but I think that you have misunderstood the game and didn't give it a proper chance, and things like Squall's mental illness went over your head. 

 

Also when you insult something that somebody else loves, it's natural for somebody to get emotional. I don't hate or blame the Aerith lovers for getting mad at me, because it just shows how much they love and adore her character. I wasn't happy with you with things like " Zell is dumb Psyduck " but I understand that you wanted to vent about this. 

 

The message of FF VIII is to focus on the now, rather than the past, enjoy the now than worry about the future, and enjoy all the friendships that you have now, rather than worry about if they are going to be around tomorrow or not. All the things that I struggle with, so I love FF VIII to death because of that reason.
