KHCoM COM not getting much love

Recommended Posts

Of the three games in the 1.5 collection, COM is getting the least attention. Figured I could maybe push a discussion along for it...

of the three, this is the only one that's just a remaster. No updated music, or gameplay. Whereas Days is comprised of mostly new content and KH1 got a bunch of new features, this is sort of the odd man out.

Which is really how its always been. It gets a lot of flak for the card system, and people mostly ignore it for that reason... I always felt that COM had one of the best stories of the series...

It led into KH2, introducing the Organization, Namine, DiZ... It was the first time Riku really had the limelight, what with having Rev/Reb.

Anyway. Show some more love for COM, ya'll.

Well for kh1fm most of it's features aren't "new" just most outside of japan haven't played kh1fm before so it's a new experience. Most people probably don't seem excited for re: com due to the card system. A lot of people dislike it but I think it's a great system. Com is my favorite kh game ironically :P

Summons to the fourth slot, triangle commands, camera on right analog, remastered score w/ live instruments, new character models... and being the FM version. Whatchu talking bout, Willis?

The fm version isn't new. Some people just haven't played it so it's a new experience. And yes the fourth slot, triangle shortcut and remastered parts are new. I guess that's more half new, half fm than most of the features not being new.

Actually aside from the Days cutscenes which was the primary reason I was looking forward to the ReMix, I was actually pretty excited about CoM since it's the only game in the series I've yet to completely play through. I do have to admit I have mixed feelings on the card system, and it isn't exactly at the top of the list for my favorite KH games.

But you're right it is kind of the one that gets left out, so with that: here CoM let me give you my love

the card system is so pathetic... I will be playing it and expect it to be far better on the PS3 than a handheld but I do wish they'd remaster it and scrap the cards. The story, I agree, is great, just a pain to play compared to KHI or Days

I love Re:COM's story because it has a dark feeling to it(as opposed to COM for obvious reasons). Everything else, well just 1 thing, I have a problem with.

Exactly.  I actually thought Re:COM had one of the best stories in the series, mostly because of that darker feeling it held.  I'm really looking forward to Re:COM's remaster!  It really was a great game.  Its only downfall was that the gameplay became sort of redundant after a while, really, but I did enjoy some of the uniqueness it had, such as the card system and ability to play as Riku.

The only thing annoying about the cards is finding the right field ones to unlock doors. Sometimes, I would need a 9 card for a certain door when I just used one not only a few seconds ago. Then it takes forever to find another for some odd reason.

Aside from that, however, the cards in battle makes the player think about what to have for their decks to be effective, and addds a unique strategy instead of just "Run in and smash things, cure, then do it again!"

In CoM, you have to think carefully about what you should do, or else you might end up losing cards due to sleights and have nothing left, or something similar.
