International Women's Day 2013

Recommended Posts

Happy International Women's Day!

Ironically, I'm studying for a History Final and I just finished reading about Women Liberation Movements and the Women's Movement in Antinuclear Protest.

Isnt this kinda sexism?

I'm not sure if that Steak and B.J. day counts. it is basically a men's day

I'm not sure though if there is anyone who actually celebrates it

this will be the worst place for a kitchen joke xD

What better day could there be? Perfect place and day xD

I'm kind of annoyed by this day.

"Oh, looook in this book! It's sexist, they only use the male form for everyone, boohoo." it's the neutral form, waah.

Cool beans~ The only sad part about this day is that we live in a world where women are recognized one day of the year instead of equally throughout the year. But if we're going to live in a world like this at least recognizing them at all is better than nothing :/

i never said or assumed you were or werent female identifying but just because you dont find a problem with it doesnt meant others (not just women) dont. a + job on your internalized misogyny thoi still stand by my point that youre one of the reasons we need this day

I don't see how I can be a reason for it. I'm for equal rights etc. but I find it a waste, if "we need" this and that in order to be "equal". Some want female traffic lights...

you are obviously missing the point and so thickheaded and drowning in misogyny that i dont even care because i dont even think you know what youre saying (i dont even know where you went from gendered forms, which is a legitimate concern to traffic signals)

just cuz you claim to support equality doesnt mean you dont oppress the individuals you supposedly support, even if those include yourself

you can say you support this and that but that doesnt mean you actually do, especially when you dont know what youre talking about

that is why we still need (intersectional) feminism because of people who don know what theyre talking about when it comes to equality between all gender identities

Are you one of these persons who think "s/he must be wrong if s/he does not think the same as I do"?

Whatever. Whenever someone is like that I see no reason to discuss things any further, because, no matter what I say now, it will always be wrong.

I was gonna re-blog this day on tumblr but for some reason I disided not to...

Of course. Gender is subjectory, technecly. But happy woman's day anyways. There are perks to being female, I guess.

Or so.....says society.

I duno.

And gender doesn't determan if one has more of less rights. If anything, it feels men have less rights.... they don't even get to wear dresses, it seems :( and, don't tell me ya can't be a badass in a dress. i'm living proof that its possable =P there needs to be a men's day now, perhaps......long live dresses?......i duno if im helping. or making things worse...i don't know much about how the world works anyways U_U;;;

men do not have less rights, any source of "disadvantage" men have is a result of patriarchy and sexism towards women. basically any "disadvantage" its when their world backfires on them (i.e. cant wear dresses because its feminine and being feminine is shameful apparently because being a woman is shameful to them)

not to be rude, you seem very sweet, but if you know you dont understand how the world works sometimes, its best not give your input because you will come out looking ignorant :/
