Mass Effect - Series Discussion

Recommended Posts

OK guys, seriously, have I actually found a game that no one else here plays? I did a google search and there have been like... hardly any threads for it. I'd think since the trilogy collection that people would be more into it. Geesh.

Anyway... they're amazing. I only just started 3, so no spoilers please. Please. But the depth and scope of these games is just breathtaking. It's one of the few games I've played where it feels like something special. The choices you have to make, and the consequences you have to live with... it hurts so good.

I saved Ashley on Virmire. I never regret his absence, but I regret having to choose. The game puts blood on your hands... and if you're incompetent, even more blood in Mass Effect 2. Mordin Solus was killed in the Suicide Mission for me. I feel guilty about that. Real guilty.

No other game makes you feel guilty. Because the choices aren't really yours.

Anyway... I guess I'm alone here.

I've watched playthroughs of them and played a bit of 3 myself. Never got that into them but they are good games.

I actually found a game that no one else here plays?

I know that feeling

I always choose to leave Ashley behind.

A: Kaiden is a lot better

B: Ashley's just a bitch lol

I don't think Ashley's a bitch. She's got a hell of a lot on her plate, too. People mistakenly think she's racist, when there's a lot of evidence otherwise. Her family is put in the shit cause of what her Grandfather did. And you can't blame her for being how she was on Horizon... have someone in your life come back from the dead and see how you react. You might be happy, but that isn't gonna show through the confusion and conflict that comes from a friend being firetrucking resurrected. Plus, Shepard's working for terrorists. She knows Cerberus' rep. Would you be happy if a friend was working for them? And she more or less gets over it in Mass Effect 3, after having time to absorb. Shepard never really had a chance to explain himself on Horizon, so there's also that...I won't trash your opinion. Just offering a cointerpoint. Don't wanna start a shitstorm.

Ah, the Mass Effect games. Good stuff, each one.

Let's see, on Virmire, I went saved Kaiden. He was a little more interesting character for me. Plus, his voice actor has played Carth in KotOR, so some good feelings for him transferred to Kaiden.

ouch. Good price or not, you've got them spread over two systems. Can't import your ME2 save to 3...

well I guess.. but I don't think it will ruin my experience anyways lol.. Importing save files would be nice, but it's not really all that big deal to me when I can get games for good prices.

Trust me. Seeing how your decisions play out throughout the trilogy is one of the most amazing aspects of the series. Having stuff you did in the first game bite you in the ass/pay off for you in the third game, for example... just adds that depth...Just believe when I say, if you can get all the games on steam, or buy the whole trilogy collection, do it.

would have bought all of em' one steam, but EA decided to be total idiot and make their origin which is straight up copy of steam with overpriced games and they won't give their games to valve anymore and I would have to play ME3 via Origin account and save data wouldn't work on it...

But I want to play ME 1-2 first to see if I want ME3 anyway so I have time to think some solution to this :P

Shit. My game bugged out on me, and now I can't get Ashley on my team...

After the Udina betrayal/Cerberus coup, you're supposed to be able to talk to her and get her on the Normandy. My game never presented dialogue options for it. She just completely disappeared. I didn't know she was supposed to join up there until to late, so theres no reloading. firetruck all...

So now I'm faced with a choice.

Restart the game, and pray that it doesn't happen again... or go on without the person I waited all the way through ME2 to be with.

Urgh.

As much as the thought cripples me, I've gotta start over again. I romanced Ash in 1, romanced no one in 2 to be loyal, and was looking forward to rekindling things in 3. Starting over is a small price to pay when you're dedicated to the character... I'm to emotionally invested in her arc to just let it go...

I know I'll be saving more often. That's for damn sure.
