VisitJoan 2,713 Posted March 5, 2013 (edited) I know that you guys have never seen any of my writing, and since I got some inspiration yesterday I decided to whip up this for you guys. It's actually a spin of a fan fiction novel I wrote a few years ago. I left the details a little light, so lets see if you can guess what this is about. And there might even be free likes. Reawakening Lima, Peru April, 2006 The ringing of a phone cut through the warm, humid air. An American manin his mid fifties put down his coffee and went to pick it up. Uponseeing the call was from somewhere in the United States, he stoppedfor a second. He hadn't been expecting the call, and yet he knewexactly who it was – his adviser from a top secret witnessprotection program. The adviser only called when he had to relocateor take some other precautions. He sighed and picked up the phone, wondering if they were going to relocate him again. “There have been some developments back home,” the adviser said. The manpaused. It had been months since he had heard, or for that matterspoken, any English. “Good or bad,” he asked. “It's about your sister. She's been found.” The man stopped. Hissister had disappeared more than a decade ago. Due to his being inthe program, he had not heard any details other than that no one knewexactly what happened. To hear she had been found was heart lifting, although he guessed it didn't matter much since he didn't have a wayto contact her. “Where is she?” he asked. “In a small town in Arizona.” “And her family?” “They're with her.” “When did this happen?” “About a year and a half ago.” The man tensed up. “And you're just telling me this now?” he askedin a raised voice. “Are you kidding me?” the adviser said harshly. “The media's been allover this. We couldn't risk the exposure.” The man sighed. Hisadviser was right as usual. It was a better idea to keep him wherethe media couldn't reach. “Why is it safe to tell me now?” “Because the woman you're hiding from is behind bars.” The man should havefelt relived, and he guessed he did a little, but he still couldn'tget over the shock. That woman was an expert at covering her tracks.Even though he had walked in on the robbery, there was still noevidence to connect her to the crime. That's why he was hiding. “What did they get her on?” he asked. The adviser paused for a moment. “It turns out she was the one behind your sister's disappearance.” “What?” the man gasped. Had this woman done this to his sister just to hurthim? No it wasn't possible. They didn't even know each other. Theromance he had had with this woman had been a quick hidden affair –a few months of dating followed by them eloping. They were waitingfor the right time to tell their families, but never got around to itbecause of the robbery. The divorce happened as quickly as possibleand then he was whisked away to remain incognito. It didn't makesense. His ex-wife didn't have a reason to go after his sister. Butthen... His sister had married her best friend from childhood, who was a part ofa wealthy family and on top of that had proceeded to make his ownfortune. He did remember his ex being quite the money fanatic. Thatwas the reason wasn't it? The adviser confirmed that he was right. “So if she's now in jail...” He started. “Yes, you have been cleared to come back,” the adviser said. “But Iwould be careful if I were you. There is reason to suggest that shemight still be criminally active, despite being locked up.” “Like what?” “We don't know yet.” The man took a deep breath. “My sister? Does she know?” “Know what?” “That I'm okay?” “That's why I called,” his adviser said, and the man got the feeling therewas more to be said. “The police were searching your ex's housewhen they found the marriage certificate. She knows that you weremarried.” The man looked at the ground. “And due to this find, they want to question you about connecting your ex to past crimes.” “So, I'm going home,” the man said. “To the United States, yes.” his adviser explained. “But you won'tbe heading to your hometown. There's a flight leaving for Phoenixin five hours. We've arranged for you to get a seat. When you land, you are to look for a woman named Scarlet Vanhouisen. She will takeyou the rest of the way.” The man felt hopeful. “Thank you,” he said, “for everything.” “You're welcome. And good luck Michael.” He hung up the phone and went to pack his suitcases, realizing that thiswas the first time in years than he had been called by his real name. Phoenix, Arizona Scarlet Most husbands would be suspicious if their wives had been asked meet a manthey don't know at the airport. Scarlet's had wished her luck andgiven her a kiss on the cheek. It must have had something to do withthe fact that the man she was giving a ride to was the brother of oneof her best friends. She sat at by a luggage carousel at Sky HarborAirport going over what she would say in her mind. She knew his namewas Michel and that he had spent over a decade traveling the worldunder a witness protection program. What she didn't know is how muchshe would have to explain to him. Slowly but surely, suitcases started to fill the carousel. Scarletstraightened her top so her name tag would show better even thoughshe knew it would take him who knows how long to go through customs. At last, she saw him, or at least it had to be him considering helooked a lot like her friend. She stood up as he went to thecarousel to pick up his luggage. “You're Scarlet, right,” he asked when he approached her. Scarlet said“yes” and then offered to take one of his bags. Then they walkedtoward the pick up area where Scarlet had been allowed to park. “Sowhere are we going? All they said over the phone was that it'ssmall.” “It's actually my hometown,” Scarlet told him while helping him place hisitems in the car. “How'd you end up here?” “My husband's from the area.” They got in the car and Scarlet startedthe drive. Dang it! Thanks for catching that. I have a habit of flipping letters and words around, and also leaving out words when I type. I'll give you a like for that. And now here's a hint: Plumbob

VisitJoan 2,713 Posted April 8, 2013 So I have a question. I was going to make this stand alone, but I've come up with more would would like to know if you want a preview. I don't want to post all that I've come up with before I finish tweeking the main story and get it online because even though the game has been guessed, who it's about is still unknown (any guesses?). VisitJoan 2,713 Posted April 12, 2013 Update. Don't worry there's more to come, but until I get the fixed novel on the site, this will be it. And I'm giving one last call to see if anyone knows who this is about (ie, who is the sister) before I reveal.
