Sylar goes over, and does his killing ritual, which consists of severing the top of his victim's skull off, then other things, probably removing and dissecting the brain to find secrets of the powers, and the human body period. The powers were from a failed replica that Xi never actually gave life, it was more or less a tool to give Sylar an extra power. I feel almost bad about the current test for Yumi and Fulmen.
