Internet providers will now penalize pirates

Recommended Posts

This isn't surprising, I thought this sort of thing was already happening. My friend received a notice from her internet provider about this very topic months ago.

It says that the company the media originates from has to file a complaint after detecting a violation. Anybody know how they go about detecting violations?

You'd think they'd realize they're fighting a losing battle.  Even if people stopped downloading they can get samples, get stuff used (which benefits the seller and not the company), and listen to music on youtube or spotify or something.  I'm surprised a universal license hasn't been applied where you pay a monthly fee for downloads instead.

Also there's been studys to show that those who pirate typically are the ones who end up buying.  They pirate to try it, and then download it to support it if they like what they got.

SOPA. Why on earth did someone come up with you.... Jeeze... Most people can't afford to buy whatever it is and if they can they'd like to try it and most file sharing sites are for us to share files... so getting punished for using things these big companies put out for us to use....Makes no sense what so ever. Oh well I guess a lot more peole may go to jail for downloading something than actually committing a crime :/
