What does HD remix mean anyways?

Recommended Posts

Does this mean we will have Kingdom Hearts + KH Re:CoM with the exact same graphics as before, only sharper? Or will it actually have next-gen graphics comparable to the KH CGI movies?

Anyway, I'm kind of disappointed they didn't include the full 358/2 Days game and KHII. Since they're including 358/2 Days cutscenes in this, and they're definitely not going to remake 358/2 in HD AGAIN, that kinda means KHII falls out of the boat. They're not going to release KHII in HD on its own, either.

So will we never see KHII in HD?

There's going to be a KHHD2.5 you know? Nomura already hinted at it. It will probably have BbS KH2 and either a Coded or DDD video volume. And it looks like the ReMIX does have current (PS3) gen graphics but not like the FMVs.

Well what exactly does that mean? From what I can see the graphics are similar to the PS2 graphics except in much much higher resolution. I still wouldn't call that PS3 gen graphics to be honest.

Also I'm kind of wondering how many times they're going to re-do CoM. First it was a 2D game, then it was remade in 3D, and now it's remade yet again in HD. I mean, I like it, but instead of including CoM I'd have preferred they included 358/2 Days.I'm also wondering if they will truly make everything HD, to be honest. A nice point of reference for this is the circular disks on Sora's gloves. If you watch the trailers, you'll notice in some instance it's very sharp, and in other instances it's blurry as hell (like it was on the PS2).

It's a remaster. Not only is the game being upscaled from PS2 native resolution to 720p, but characters' models are being replaced too. You can't expect those graphics to be exactly modern day either, as that would require a complete redo of the graphics engine.

Just to clarify with you, this HD 1.5 remix is a REMASTER not a remake. There is a difference. A remake would have PS3 quality graphics and everything would be completely re-rendered. A remaster is just upping the quality on the former version. Most HD collections are remasters NOT remakes: i.e. Sly collection, Ratchet and Clank, etc.

As far as why they used CoM and didnt remake 358/2 days is this: CoM had already been re-rendered when they made Re: CoM as it went from Game Boy Advance to PS2. To remaster the game in hd is just more of an upscaling with new character models. To remake 358/2 days into a ps2 quality rendering like they did with CoM would have taken over a year by itself, as they would basically be creating an entire new game. It was much quicker to make new cutscenes instead, and its nearly 3 hours long so it's like a movie.

If they waited another extra year how pissed would people be? VERY PISSED. I would take a 3 hour KH movie over another year of waiting

I'm kinda wondering though where the hell are they getting these 3 hours of movie? Were there really that many cutscenes in 358/2 Days? And I don't know if it will acutally be like a movie. If the gameplay parts are missing, then the whole thing will be skipping huge parts of the plot.

they are taking some scenes that were text-only and making them fully voiced

To answer your question fellow JustRob.  KH 1.5 HD Remix means Kingdom Hearts 1.5 High Definition Remix.  The game is meant to include KH 1 Final Mix along with Recom and 358/2 Days scenes.  Make no mistake, 2.5 will come out, because if it weren't to come out, what would have been the use of releasing 1.5?  So by default, a 2.5 shall be made!!!!  And then after that KH3 is sure to be released. :)

No, it's a 3 hour movie. They already confirmed they added over one HUNDRED new scenes...

It is not just the cutscenes form 358/2 days. They took those, as well as text-only scenes and also other story elements within the missions and rest of the game and converted it into 2 hours and 50 minutes of cutscenes. They can be watched as individual scenes, similar to chapters on a dvd, or as one whole movie. They also expanded some of the original cutscenes. They made sure to keep the plot intact. Of course they cannot convert every moment of the game into cutscene format or it would be countless hours long, but they took the most important things and made a movie out of it, similar to how many movies based on books are made. Take harry potter or Lord of the Rings for example. (for the most part) the most important story elements are there and all the parts that aren't vital from the book are excluded in the movie for time purposes.

Okay wait, so Kingdom Hearts in KH HD 1.5 ReMix is the Final Mix version? Does that mean it will have japanese subtitles and popups alongside english voice acting?

It is the final mix version. And I'm pretty sure they'll translate the text for the overseas release.

I agree with Keysofblades, Kingdom Hearts FM is probably gonna get brought overseas and fully translated AFTER 10 YEARS!!!! Thanks to Jesse, we know we're probably gonna get the remake now, and then we get to play KHFM without emulating it or importing it now. And then they're probably gonna do the exact same for KH 2.5 Remix and bring BBS FM(hopefully) and KH2FM+(except no Re:COM) and maybe cutscenes from Re:Coded and hopefully DDD. Im confident in 2.5 Remix that they'll make BBS playable, since it was on PSP and it could be brought to PS3 since the controls are the same.
