dusk 910 Posted October 30, 2012 Of course it would be nice to hear music with this high quality in games. Problem is that it's pretty expensive to hire orchestra and put them to first train those songs and then do auditions and all that stuff.

Sure, but companies like Nintendo, or even square Enix could afford it easily. hatok 6,413 Posted October 30, 2012 Most of the time the games don't really suit orchestral version, all though orchestral version sounds great, the event that is happening hardly ever suits it to be orchestral that's completely untrue. A quiet eerie dungeon piece could easily make a dungeon seem darker and more atmospheric. Dramatic cutscenes can benefit massively from a rousing orchestral score, and quieter moments can benefit from the softer tones an orchestra can achieve. Some dramatic cut scenes would be good if there was an orchestral sound or something but not a full piece of music like you posted above, especially if their is talking in the cutscene because then it wouldn't quite fit having orchestral music in the background as people are talking, and also most battle themes wouldn't suit being a orchestra version while in a battle. CloakedSchemerX 1,011 Posted December 15, 2012 THIS LIST IS LIKE 95% BGM'S! Battle Game Music or something I honestly don't know exactly! This was going to be only BGM's, considering I figured all of my favorite Video Game OST's are during battle, SO it's just like one OST. Note that this list might be very...REALLY biased to our little Kingdom Hearts but at least it's not number one. I like so much and I had to do at least a bit more then ten, and what better number than thirteen? Also, there are several ties on here where I cannot decide so don't hate. Anyways:13. Night of Fate- Kingdom Hearts/KHFM (vs Shadows in Destiny Islands invasion) Right as I started typing this I began to get this stuck past my skull and into my mind. It's just plain catchy and has an excellent feel to it as your once peaceful home is being destroyed bit by bit, and your friends are being taken into the darkness. The ambiance the setting and music makes while your hopelessly fighting off the Heartless is just perfect.12. Scythe of Petals- Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories/Re:CoM (Vs. Marluxia [spectre]) This theme. So many memories. Something about it just reminds you of the awesome game storyline and the hatred for its gameplay. Not only is it really god-like in sounds, but it's just so catchy at least half of you probably hum this song to yourself if you're like me. The boss himself pisses me off so much in the GBA though, this theme is the only reason why my Gameboy didn't get shattered into pieces through constant throwing at a wall.11. TIE: Tension Rising & Vim and Vigor- Kingdom Hearts II (Several different bosses) Kingdom Hearts II, in general, had most definitely the best overall soundtrack of games I have played. I just love it. I just...love it. I just- ANYWAYS, both themes really give you a cool feeling of...well, tension. Twilight Thorn would always be a very slow battle for me-- intentionally-- all because of this theme. I'm a sucker for Battle Music, but still.10. Philistine; "Reaper, Reaper"- No More Heroes 2: Desperate Struggle (vs Margaret Moonlight) Yes this catchy son of a gun. A girl may sing it but I sing along in my head too anyways. It's just so catchy and gets stuck in your head. Not to mention, Margaret is actually supposed to be SINGING THIS THEME as she slices and shoots you to a bloody pulp. The boss herself is actually pretty hard, and with her singing this as she kills you makes it all the more fun to fight. She even says people call her a Reaper and when she sings she ends people's lives. The slow beats of the little Latin lyrics make nice dynamics and the tempo is generally fast. I just love it. "Reaper, Reaper, that's what people call me...why? 'Cause they all die, when I sing I end their lives, you act as though payback makes you a noble man, is that a fact? Well you're a goddamn phillistine!" Well that's just the chorus, but NEXT!9. One of a Kind- Bayonetta (Vs Angels at beginning of game [falling clock tower, before tutorial]) Time to play Bayonetta. *presses start and then play* Okay seems pretty cool I think I might-- HOLY S*** WHAT THE HELL DO I DO?! WHERE DO I GO, WHAT AM I DOING?! WHAT DO I DO; OH MY GOD WHO AM I?! Yep, right at the start of the game you get out into a battle without knowing how to do a single thing. Luckily you have unlimited health here, but DAMN. Not only is the music and fight epic, but this is the first part of the game and yet it is one of the most climactic and awesome battles in the entire game. An endless amount of angels flying at you, a witch at your side fighting by you, dragons flying around crashing into you, a Cardinal Virtue that has an upside down human head and two dragon heads shooting flames at you...just play this game. Back to the music the beginning sounds really creepy-ish and sounds like your hearing it from an 1800's stereo until BOOM! Epicness.8. TIE: The Thirteenth Struggle & The Thirteenth Dilemma- Kingdom Hearts Re: Chain of Memories & Kingdom Hearts II (vs Organization XIII members excluding Xemnas, Marluxia and Roxas)I really could NOT decide between these two, but when you hear either one you know s*** is about to get real. I mean, excluding Axel, Zexion and Lexaeus, they were pretty easy). To be perfectly honest, I don't really like KH II's version of The Thirteenth Struggle, which is why I stated Re: CoM instead above. I honestly don't know why, it just doesn't catch on to me. Both themes tell you, "Prepare yourself for a damn battle" and it does it quite well. Hearing Demyx with his "Silence...traitor" synced up with The Thirteenth Dilemma is just perfect and tells you the wuss is gonna show his true colors. And boy don't I remember "Dance water, DANCE!", "There's no fun in this.", and of course, "ALL SHALL BE LOST TO YOU!" They're really memorable. While The Organization members stuck at Castle Oblivion aren't as intimidating in terms of numbers and dialogue, they're fights are still pretty tough, especially Vexen for me.7. Battle for the Umbra Throne- Bayonetta (vs Jeanne first battle) BAGPIPE SOLOOOOO! This is the only song I have ever heard that actually makes a bagpipe epic. I mean, epic? Bagpipe? Pff, just damn. This theme plays in your first battle with your umbran rival, fighting in the throne room as a coronation for your rival. This takes place in the past but still interactively controllable like any other part of the game. It's an awesome fight and when you can first walk atop the walls and ceiling in a very nice stage. The elegant piano makes it very graceful and upbeat while the bagpipe keeps it epic and catchy. If you don't believe me make a new tab on Youtube.6. Roxas- Kingdom Hearts II (Vs Roxas) No...it's this song. Poor Roxas...I just can't help but feel kind of sad for him. This theme doen't feel like you're going to battle with someone, it feels like you're hurting someone physically...who was already torn apart emotionally. The music reminds you of Roxas' life that could feel real at a sentimental level. Roxas joining the Organization obliviously...meeting his best friend Axel...all of his confusion and frustration...befriending a newer 'member', Xion...going through so many memories with his two only friends. Dealing with Xion leaving and Axel getting her back forcefully...her being a puppet...and worst of all, killing Xion and forgetting her afterwards. Then Roxas leaves the Organization and Axel...being defeated by Riku and overall...losing both his friends. Roxas had nothing left anymore. 5. TIE: Fly Me to The Moon (Climax) & You May Call Me Father- Bayonetta (Vs Several bosses/ vs Father Balder) NON-STOP CLIMAX MODE! Well first of all of course Fly Me to The Moon a very girly but still great song. And the girly part isn't bad at all, it's the best part of the song. With its upbeat tune and catchy but girly lyrics it seems kind of unfitting for a song to play before you summon a gigantic demon-dragon to devour angels, but it works. I do NOT know why, but it just DOES. The song really grows onto you and stays in your head from the first time you hear it, which is really early, to about two weeks after you finish the game. The game takes a while to beat too. To be honest, I actually...really love the song. Yeah...well ANYWAYS, next is probably the funnest battle in the entire game. It's much different from Fly Me to the Moon and it has so much awesome godly and orchestral tunes. It's so perfectly blended together it makes awesome music for an easy awesome semi-final boss battle.4. TIE: Fate of the Unknown & One-Winged Angel- Kingdom Hearts II Final Mix+ & Final Fantasy VII (Secret cutscene & vs Sephiroth) I'm sure you all saw our black feathered friend coming along but let's start with Fate of the Unknown. This is only in the Final Mix+ of Kingdom Hearts II and in the secret cutscene showing The "Chasers" (Terra, Aqua, Ventus) in their Keyblade Armor against Xehanort and Vanitas. So dark and mysterious at the beginning then it gets to it's long note and then...epicness again. It reminds me of nothing but the battle of epic proportions between the five, with Terra being struck down and Ventus being frozen and broken. It's reminescent of not only an epic battle, but our heroes' loss and the villain's triumph. And the One-Winged Angel. What can I say? The Latin lyrics are amazing and the tune is dark yet delicate at the same time, keeping an intense and deadly ambiance in the fight.3. Dark Impetus- Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep (vs "Mysterious Figure") Why do your PSP's keep breaking? That's hardly a question with this game. The damn Xehanort Unknown guy never quits! Frankly, I can beat him with ease now, but of course...not with Terra. FRIKKIN DASH. Anyways, the thing is a masterpiece. With it's very very distant god-like choir hymns, it's nearly constant I think sixteenth notes in the background and the perfect mixture between an elegant violin and a cool guitar is just unspeakable. And I'm sure everyone knows the Violin solo...the one that you just have to love, just because it's the second-best violin solo of music and the second-best violin that's on this list. I have a violin. I need this sheet music. Now.2. Disappeared- Kingdom Hearts Final Mix (vs Xemnas) Oh...damn. I'm gonna die. I'm...gonna die. With this sheer awesomeness called "Disappeared" on the hardest boss, not to mention secret boss of the game. it straight up tells you, "You are going to die. Good luck." Especially since at the time of the game, NO ONE knew who this guy was. He was a mystery, and that made it better. The silent and divine hymns at the beginning give a great essence of fear and anxiety, you don't know what's coming. But once it starts to do it's occasional and more frequent instrumental creepiness that I suck at describing, it starts to crescendo as if it comes closer...closer...closer...than kills you. The hymns and the instruments soon sync in a creepy manner and then goes to its epic and loudness that stays through the song while keeping its incredible dark tone. The darkness it gives is also why I chose this version over KH II's, it was an easier fight and it was somewhat less dark of a feel. 1. Blood and Darkness- Bayonetta (vs Final fight with Jeanne) So many instruments at once, then crescendo, then suddenly it becomes a great and epic proportion of music. The best of the best, and makes an epic fight so much more epic, I CANNOT describe it's sheer awesomeness. Up the note scale slowly and crescendo-ing then down the scale with its tempo high and fast. The light but easily hearable instruments playing occasionally make it much more cool and of course the godly background chanting is awesome. The piano in the background keeps a barely noticeable but steady beat and the Violin. The freaking violin. God, it's awesome. Playing in the background nearly the whole time it keeps the melody and harmony at different times. Soon enough, the piano, or organ, I'm not sure keeps a Gothic Church kind of feel to it and the chanting heightens frequently and louder and louder until it quiets down for the violin solo at the 1:29 mark. The F***ING VIOLIN SOLO. IT'S THE BEST....just...scroll down now. I am done. Scroll down and listen. Hear it for yourself.Warning: Leave if you are prone to eargasms
