I don't want any new worlds for KH3

Recommended Posts

I don't want any new worlds for KH3. I want to revisit worlds we already know, and revisit some familiar faces.

There's a few reasons for this. One, I think its time the series works with the plots and characters it already has, rather than constantly introducing a new stream of settings and characters. There is a ton of material to already there, and putting more on top of it is unnecessary.

Second, if this is going to be the emotional apex, it would be good for Sora to go and see the lives of all the people he's met and go to all the worlds he's made a difference in. I feel that since KH2, his relationships with the Disney (and Final Fantasy) characters have been neglected. He makes friends, sure, but I think we can develop that a bit more. Now that the climax is forthcoming, it would be good to get all, or as many, of the familiar faces in as you can and explore their characters a bit more. Not to mention I still want Riku to have to go back to some of the worlds he meddled in and actually have to own up for his actions.

Third, one assumes that the Princesses will come back as a necessary plot point, and it would be a good idea to spend a lot of time delving into their situation rather than going over them briefly.

Sure this would be nice. But it's just not working o.o The Disney Worlds are all based on the Films, they have the same story. What will happen in a World where the Story is already over? Nothing. Also, the Disney Worlds aren't that important to the KH Story, you can see it in KH3D. KH3D has very little parts of Disney Story, but bigger parts of KH Story. The core of KH is the same until now... Sora and his Friends are fighting against the evil guys. This didn't change o:But yeah, to see old faces again would add a good nostalgic part for Fans from the beginning. Though, IMO new worlds are better for KH.

But I don't want to see Wonderland again (PLEASE NO WONDERLAND)...I feel like when they add more worlds, they are adding more variety.

They could always revisit places AND go to new worlds as well.

I pretty much was going to say that.

May I add, PLEASE NO AGRABAH.

As for what will happen when the movie's plotline is over, the answer is very simple: keep writing and establish further character relations and plot points. This has already been done a few times: Olympus Coliseum in KH2 goes out of the original Hercules plot (though some key elements remain), while delving further into what makes Hercules tick, what Hades is capable of, and how Sora goes about helping his old friend. In fact, in most of the worlds used in KH2, after the plot of the film has been finished, it tries to further embellish on what is there to make a new story (with admittedly varying degrees of success). It's easily done: all it takes it good writing.

In regards to the importance of the Disney worlds to the main plot: they remain very important, with the Princesses still being an integral plot point, as well as providing most of the substance of Sora's travels. In the first game, they were especially important: you had your Disney characters fight alongside Sora in an effort to stop the Heartless, to save their homes and their love ones, with emotional stakes equal to that of the main KH cast. The fight was as much theirs as it was Sora's, and if it seems otherwise as of late, it is because the writers have not spent as much time fleshing out their motivations or keeping them integrated in the plot as well. But, again, it would be very easy to reverse this trend if the story were to focus on the Disney characters again, bolster their relationships with the cast, bring them back into the loop, and actually have some development occur.

I want to be able to visit all the home worlds of all the PoH. It just feels right to be able to interact with them on there own turf all in one game for the finally (of this saga). I don't think KH3 should have no new worlds what so ever because the series is also about making many connections with people across the universe but I wouldn't mind if it were kept to a minimum. There still a lot of worlds with potential story that can be explored more like Agrabah, Never Land, and Castle of Dreams. While I can see how some of the worlds are repetitive that can be fixed by making the story or world itself more engaging. e.g. after a while I was sick and tired of Never Land (especially after Days) but BbS made it enjoyable for me again.

We're the 00.2% of people who actually enjoy Wonderland. I even liked it in Re:Coded.

I'd prefer a balance with the old and the new.  Some of us are tired of seeing the same worlds over and over again (I've developed a distaste for Olympus, Agrabah, and Halloweentown), but that doesn't necessarily mean they have to have no familiar worlds, just as they don't have to go with no new worlds.  It'd be nice to see Sora's relationship with the non-Donald/Goofy/Mickey Disney characters fleshed out a bit more, but I don't think they matter as much in the grand scheme of things as much as his relationship with the aforementioned trio, and with the original characters.  What I think they should do is make sure the Disney worlds are more plot-relevant.  Outside of KH1, no villain but Maleficent and Pete made much impact on the plot as a whole.  In the first game, the Disney villains were working together to take down Sora.  Now the villains are just baddies to beat up while Sora goes after the real villains, like Organization XIII or Xehanort.  I know Sora and co. are still trying to preserve that "world order" business, but maybe one day they'd have to break the rule so the various Disney heroes can work together to stop the Big Bads.  Even if the battle will ultimately be between the 7 Lights and 13 Darknesses, there's no reason the other Disney characters can't lend a hand.

(And Wonderland's okay when you know how to navigate it.  Still too much jumping for my liking, though.)

I didn't expect to agree with you when I clicked on this thread, but this could work really well. ("Pirates of the Caribbean Dead Man's Chest/ At World's End" world would be epic) Your point about Riku living up to his actions would work particularly well, methinks.

On a similar note, one thing I think would be interesting, if it happened, would be to have all the worlds we know and love to get plunged into darkness at some point into the story, and the main characters would need to free the worlds from it. I don't know what would cause this to happen, but I feel like it would definitely add some extra suspense and emotion to the story, seeing the worlds that we've visited all dark and destroyed (similar to when Aqua sees Cinderella Castle at the end of BBSFM) idk, I just think it would be cool.

I actually liked it in the first game, but they kept using it in later games so it became repetitive to me x.x

That's actually a really good idea: if a world that Sora (and the audience) is emotionally attached to is suddenly in grave danger, it will resonate much better and create more tension as we see events unfold. Heck, I remember the first time I was playing KH2, and the Heartless were running off with the Book of Pooh. While I knew that nothing too terrible could happen, there was a split second of horror as I contemplated the innocence of the 100 Acre Wood being corrupted, and that sense of panic drew me in further. That's the kind of experience which could happen more often if it was characters and worlds we knew and loved that were at stake.

If they only add worlds we've already been to, fans might think they're just being lazy and complain about it. We have enough complaining in this fanbase. Instead, why not have an even amount of old and new worlds, like Kingdom Hearts 2 did? While it did bring us back to worlds like Agrabah and Olympus Colosseum, Square Enix included Mulan, The Lion King, Tron, and all the rest that were fresh. If they do something like that, then I'd be okay with it. I mean, there are other worlds out there that need to be saved from the darkness, y'know.

You'll definitely get your wish. Seeing as Xehanort plans to destroy the Princesses of Heart, Sora and co. WILL have to revisit those worlds in order to protect them. Not only that, they'll have to go to Castle Oblivion to get Ven and the Realm of Darkness to find Aqua. I have no idea where Terra is now...

I want revisits of the best worlds from KH 1&2, but i also want some new worlds, I'm thinking like anywhere from 50%-65% Revisits, 35% New Worlds

But when i say "New Worlds" I mean they could be new to the Kingdom Hearts Series, like Toy Story, Monsters Inc., Wall-E, etc..., but I also mean they could be Worlds that Sora hasn't been to like, Cinderella's World (Castle of Dreams), Snow White's World (Dwarf Woodland), Aurora (Enchanted Dominion), Stich's World (Deep Space)

I agree that they could certainly expand on a lot of the stories. Most of these Disney movies already have sequels... so it's not like they would be making up entirely new plots for the worlds already visited. Example? Aladdin and the King of Thieves, Dead Man's Chest, Little Mermaid 2, Ect.

But it won't happen. They can't promote or advertise the game without any new worlds; it would be a lackluster effort and there simply wouldn't be enough ambition to play it. My vote? Mix old and new worlds. Better safe than sorry.

There are some worlds I want to visit again, such as Halloween Town, naturally there are also places I want to stay out of, like Wonderland, I hate the firetrucking soundtrack and the typical enemies for the place.

Oh, and another thing, I WANT TO EXPLORE DESTINY ISLANDS!

I agree with Dave here. There is no need to slam new worlds in KH3 (In DDD disney worlds were boring and served almost nothing to story if Xehanort didn't appear) , it would be more interesting to see old faces, helping them out, deepening story and relations with them. Having Riku to fix things he has broken... And as Jim already said, the movies with sequels could work for this very well.

Also please: give Disney villains actually part on this world rather than just being easy boss fight. In kh1 they were interesting and they had this union of villains and now they are almost like joke characters.

I want Olympus Coliseum back. I love that world (KH1 version is the best). okay I liked KH2 version too, but I didn't like tournaments in underworld.

I liked wonderland. The musics aren't even all that bad. Land of Musketeers in DDD were much worse.
