Games more dangerous than guns, say US senator

Recommended Posts

Wow... That's taking things a little too far. At this rate, games will be banned in America within the next year or so. Guns are weapons. Games are just a form of entertainment, and not all games involve violent acts. I swear, next they'll say games cause cancer- oh wait, they already did. I don't get why no one blames movies or TV shows for violence. I know that games are more interactive, but movies can get quite violent too. It annoys me that people blame video games for all of the problems in life...

I doubt that they will ban video games, if they were to, they would only ban violent video games like Call of Duty.

Funnily enough, Japan has practically no mass shootings or deaths involving guns. A country where video games are prominent.

I just remembered [off-topic]

Only 7 murders involving guns were recorded in Japan in 2011 .-. I'm not sure about 2012 but just saying

Video gamers really need to to be more open in public and voice how they feel about this, especially in America and really say that video games are not these evil mind-washing violence weapons that they seem to believe that they are.

I think we need to to maybe stuck up for what we love and stop the American government and media from treating Video Games like the son of Adolf Hitler.

Just going to point out that there's no research to either support or disprove the effect of video games. For someone who has existing mental health problems, violent games may have the capacity to push them over the edge.

and this is one thing where reliable research is incredibly difficult, if not impossible to get.  The percentage of the population that plays video games is huge, and the percent that actually does stupid things that kill people is much, much, much smaller, so there is no possible way to prove a correlation.  It's all a matter of the person.

OH MY GOSH.

Okay, seriously? No, I would say it's the governments fault on not locking down enough and making sure that none of this crap happens. Then it also falls on the parents. Be a parent, if you notice your kid acting funny and stuff, go rummage through their room and look for stuff so these things can be prevented.

Then again, I think to myself, would the senate say the same thing if before he shot the school up that the shooter watched Dora? Ugh. They really need to recognize what the real issue is. Sin. :I Nothing more. Nothing less.

Also, why pick on video games? They are not the only violent thing out there you know. Dare I ask, what is the difference between a violent movie and a video game? Both are for entertainment and fun. However in my opinion  movies now days seem to be more vulgar than usual. I don't remember them being like this some years back. Today it seems like every 3 mins there is a sex scene and it gets really annoying and everyone cusses for like no reason. It's not necessary.

But the basic reason why this happen is sin. We live a fallen and imperfect world. Stuffs gonna happen. Deal with it.jpg

Also, a good buttwhoppin or two is good for a child. Ain't gonna hurt them. Huehuehue.

I prefer not to blame violent video games for people's behavier. It does sadden me how much people seem to like them on a large scale, though.

It's made me think at times we've needed to look at things suffer NOT to be violent OURSELVES....which is scary for me. x.x;

Personally I don't stomach violence in media very well at all, i'm a pretty sencitive person. I prefer looking at stuff like Hello Kitty or dress up games....

I feel my attraction to riku helps me not worry what'll happon to me if i don't endulge in violence too much T.T;;

But, yeah, it almost seems like NOT playing violent video games makes people act violent. Personally, though, I think, if people enjoy violent video games, though, no one should complain about it. Just as long as its not nessasary to be a good person, thats all that matters to me.

People should just enjoy the hobbies they want to enjoy. As long as the hobbie isn't hurting real people.

I don't think having hobbies, violent games or whatever, should lead to a violent personality. If a person is violent, regards of video games or not, they need consoling or something.

Or maybe healthier diets....you shouldn't blame likes or dislikes for ANY of it. Period.

Yes, like we kill people with video games.

What's worse? Getting whacked with a video game? Or getting shot?

I mean yeah, video games can cause people to be more...agitated, but that does not mean that when one person murders, it should be blamed on video games.
