A mystery 346 Posted January 26, 2013 I felt like sharing a piece of music with everyone here. The piece, "The Rite of Spring," written by Igor Stravinsky is a wonderful piece. It provides an excellent example of what dissonance is in music. Dissonance in music was a relatively new concept at the time Igor Starvinsky wrote "The Rite of Spring." When he premired this piece in 1913 it literally caused riots, because people were not famlilar with the harsh sounds of dissonance. Today this piece is considered to be what a milestone in the history of ballet and an inspiration to modern composers.
