Tails 6,692 Posted January 16, 2013 (edited) You know, i have to say that i like Kh1 a lot more than i do with KH2. There are a lot of things KH1 has done that KH2 kinda lacks. And here's a list of things that makes KH1 better. - the MP Gauge: KH1 had the best MP gauge compared to KH2's MP gauge. In KH1 the MP gauge fills up if you give damage to the enemy in the game. Which made using spells a lot better. Now, With KH2's MP gauge it limits you to maybe 6x uses of spells. And I have to say, it pretty much hate it. Plus, why does it have to take ALL of your MP away when you use a cure spell? At least in KH1 when you use a cure spell it only took one bar of your MP and not the entire amount I had. - Bosses: The bosses in KH1 was a lot more challenging. You actually have to take bosses a lot more seriously no matter what mode you were in. In KH2, everything is way too easy and just feels like the game is holding your hand with all the bosses and some of the Heartless. Even though the reaction commands are nice, it makes things way too easy and makes bosses feel like a cakewalk. - Spells: KH1's Spells were...how should I say....useful. ESPECIALLY that wind guard one (forgot the name but it's that ability you get after you complete Deep Jungle). I mean a lot of spells like Fire, Blizzard, Thunder, and Wind felt loads more useful than Kh2's spells. I mean just look at Kh2's spells compared to KH1. The only good spells that are even useful are Reflect and Cure/Cura/Curaga. The other spells on the other hand becomes useful in certain points in the game. Which i find to be dissappointing. i mean why can't they just be more useful like they were in KH1? And another thing: Why get rid of the wind guard magic we had back in Kh1? That was very useful especially if you are somewhat underleveled. Why did Square decide to take that out? Why? - Secret Bosses: One of the many reasons I like KH1 a lot more is because there was a lot more bosses to fight. I mean in KH1 you had Kurt Zisa, Ice Titan, Rock Titan, Sephiroth, and Phantom. And what do you have in KH2? Sephiroth. Yup, good ol' Sephy. In whcih you can only fight him once. And even better, once you beat him you get a keyblade that's not useful...at all. I mean i do all this hard work to beat him and my reward is a crappy keyblade that LOWERS your defense by 1? No...just no. And we can't even battle him again? We have to start a new game and do ALL that stuff again just to fight you? This is why I make sure I save before fighting him. So i can just fight him again and again. I mean at least in KH1 you could fight him whenever yu want without using a save file just to battle him. -Tournments: I have to say, Kh1's tournaments ais tons better than KH2's. I mean, in Kh1's tournemtns there were titles that has "????" in the title that makes you go and wonder "Hmmm, I wonder what this is. Let's check it out." And it surprises you. I really miss that in Kh2. Now don't get me wrong, KH2's tournaments are okay but doesn't look all that interesting in my opinion compared to KH1. And there would be secret bosses that would give you thrilling challenges that would urge you yo just keep trying an trying ntil you win. That, imo, is what made Kh1's tournament feel so great compared to KH2's. Now, I will admit that there are things that makes Kh2 look a bit better than the first one. Like the gummie ship battles, Drive Forms, skippable cutscenes and the limits you do with the Disney Characters. I will admit that it's an improvement from KH1. But I still like KH1 more than KH2 for all the reasons I stated above. Keep in mind that the things I stated are all my (and I guess other people) opinions about what i think of KH1 and KH2. I mean let;'s face it, they both have their pros and cons. But I thought I'd just say what was on my mind about the two games. I mean i'm not saying that Kh2 is bad, but I just wish it didn't leave out the things KH1 had that made it great (and you know, it kinda feels like I was doing a review of Kh1/KH2 somewhat lol) Edited January 16, 2013 by Tails 9 Blake, coolwings, Shera Wizard and 6 others reacted to this

It's not bad at all. Overall, I agree with this topic.

Shera Wizard 2,736 Posted January 16, 2013 Well I personally preferred this: KH1 actually had better platforming [Deep Jungle], better puzzles/contraptions [Hollow Bastion] and I kinda liked the animation in KH1 when you enter a door/ go through an area. KH2 just transited it with that symbol going in and out of the black screen but meh you covered everything else 1 Tails reacted to this

FireRubies1 1,325 Posted January 16, 2013 For once I agree with you owo. I also find KH1 to be better in terms of story... each world had its own unique plot rather than a weird watered down story from its film of origin. And about Gummi ships, I never liked them at all 1 Keyblader reacted to this

It was really fun trying to figure out what to do in Hollow bastion. And another thing I wish they bring back in KH2: Trinity Limits. I mean, I liked how Sora,Donald, and Goofy would bounce on them and do a special animation like run into a wall just to open something. That was very well done imo. supersaiyanmikito 32 Posted January 16, 2013 - the MP Gauge: KH1 had the best MP gauge compared to KH2's MP gauge. This is because of how powerful the magic is in KH2. If KH2 has KH1's MP system, a baby could beat the game on the hardest difficulty. - Bosses: The bosses in KH1 was a lot more challenging. True, but not for the right reasons. Sora's moveset is garbage in the first game. He can't defend himself at all. He might as well draw a giant glowing target on his chest and say "HEY, I'M A FREE KILL!" Dodge Roll is crap, you lose all control in the air and you don't get guard until half way into the game. - Spells: KH1's Spells were...how should I say....useful. Completely wrong... In KH1, Fire is useless, Blizzard is good but only with the quick fire trick, Thunder is COMPLETELY useless. Cure is good but its really weak until Cura. Gravity is useless but has some neat tricks when used right. Stop, while nice, it should cost less... Aero is good, nothing really wrong. Now KH2. Fire is actually extremely powerful but its awful in base form. Transform into Wisdom and suddenly you have a vortex of death. Blizzard is weird, its useless normally but it has a strange effect on bosses. It "resets" their attack pattern. If a boss is spamming, hit them with blizzard and they might change their attack. Thunder is great for field control. Although its only a single bolt, it launches the enemies into the air. Good for giving yourself a free shot in. Cure, while I agree with the MP cost, KH2 is meant to be more technical. Using Cure every 10 seconds just looks bad. Your meant to protect yourself(and in KH2 you actually can do this). Magnet, how is this not a good spell? Magnet is insane in this game. Its leaves enemies completely helpless and you can follow with Thunder. If you liked Zero G magic in the modern games, you would love KH2's Magnet. Reflect is the THE most broken attack in the entire series. A ton of invincibility frames and major damage. - Secret Bosses: One of the many reasons I like KH1 a lot more is because there was a lot more bosses to fight. Completely nullified by Kingdom Hearts 2 Final Mix which has 15 post game bosses. Even then, most of the secret bosses in KH1 are terrible. Kurt, Phantom and Ice Titan just DRAG! Rock Titan is literally the easiest secret boss in the series and Sephiroth is not really that hard. -Tournments: I have to say, Kh1's tournaments ais tons better than KH2's Can't really argue with this one. 1 Captain Arrowguns reacted to this

I also find KH1 to be better in terms of story... each world had its own unique plot rather than a weird watered down story from its film of origin. And about Gummi ships, I never liked them at all I couldn't agree with this more. KH had a much more relevant story with each of the worlds that you went through than KH2 did. You actually feel like you're visiting that world for a purpose that is relevant to what is happening in the outer scenario of the game's plot. In KH2, it's just like "Oh yeah, I'm here in this world to do stuff. Sometimes I know people and do stuff with them, but in reality, I'm not doing anything that is relevant to the outer plot if no Organization members are around ._." In KHI I used fire to strike at a distance - to attack without putting myself at risk for damage. KH2 fire is useless for that so I never used it. But with the story of KH, I have to say that I like KHI the least (excluding Codded, which I haven't played).
Mystics Apprentice 2,397 Posted January 16, 2013 Yeah, I think I prefer KH1 over 2 myself. There was something just so classical about the first game that seemed rather lost on the second. Also, I just loved that MP gauge. The only thing that's really missing from KH1 is the Organization, but, well... I guess I can't win it all.
Ptolema 404 Posted January 19, 2013 Kh1 was better. It was the beginning and important plotwise. Like, half of Kh2 was actually important plotwise. I couldn't make sense of some parts, like 'What does this even have to do with the story?' Besides, in Kh1 you didn't have to kill Nobodies who were growing Hearts.
