No need to take that guy seriously. He either is close minded or then he is actually so boring person that he will go and bash other people's opinions around. 

Just ignore him, usually guys like those just seek little bit of attention and when they fail at it, they stop.

Reacting negatively is what he wants.  Treating his actions with complete apathy shows him his opinions aren't worth your time.  When I say apathy, I don't mean in the sullen sense, I mean in the "Yeah, knock yourself out, dude, I'm gonna go enjoy myself. " way.

Yeah, that's rough. I was playing L4D online with a friend and a person joined the game with Kingdom in their name. My friend showed immediate disgust for the name in relation to the series, it broke my heart but I said nothing even though it's my favorite game series. I mostly just keep quiet about my interests, but that's essentially hiding. In the end you have to decide if standing up for what you like is worth the haters.
