umdgen virus or false positive?

Recommended Posts

This is a serious topic, I just didn't know where to put it. Pretty much title says all really is it a virus or false positive I'm wanting to know so hopefully I can patch my copy of bbsfm (its hard when you don't know what the heck you are melding or what abilities you're getting). So if anyone has used umdgen before please help me out here..

Umdgen? I've used it, and it's not a virus. It's perfectly fine, and it does its job.

Thanks. did your anti virus think it was a virus on opening it?

Since when I previously got it I scanned it with a few things, came up fine then tried opening it, it worked, closed it for some reason (can't remember) tried to open it again and the anti virus said it blocked a virus so i was kinda "wth!?".

thanks for replying I greatly appreciate it.

I didn't get any virus warning when I opened it up. The download site maybe?

It was mediafire and i've used mediafire a number of times (that does't mean much though), besides I was offline when I opened it.

Interesting. I had no problems with the program personally. After scanning with AVG, it says it's virus free.

Ok, thanks. Guessing its just false positive (definitely annoying when they happen), the only other option really is that it was just bad copy of it.

Just so you know in the future, there is always a chance of infected files, even on trusted sites. The chance is very small, but it never hurts to check.

Yeah i know, its a pain really. People could do some really good things instead they try to mess up a persons electronic device.
