Tails 6,692 Posted November 25, 2012 You know, I heard that there are some Japanese game developers that are more interested in making Western games. Like Hideo Kojima for example. i remember reading that interview of his that said that he prefers Western games than Japanese games simply because they look more interesting. Though Hideo isn't the only one that i heard that are more interested in Western games than Japanese games. There was some other ones i heard about but I forgot what their names were. But I'm curious to know. Why do some Japanese game developers find Western games more fun than Japanese games (this is probably a stupid question to some of you)? i mean I can understand if they like the culture and all and I'm not saying that there's anything wrong with liking another cultures games. But I find it pretty interesting that there are Japanese people who like Western games more than Japanese games. Kinda makes me glad that I play Western games knowing Japanese gamers like them too. _The Door To Light_ 1,507 Posted November 25, 2012 The reason why might simply be because Western games are unique to them. People are usually interested in things that are different. But that's just what I think. 3 CjmonXIII, hatok and Tails reacted to this

Hei 3,233 Posted November 25, 2012 A lot of Japanese games tend to be hack n slash/JRPG, maybe some developers don't like them much and prefer Western gaming designs. Idk

DG20 67 Posted November 25, 2012 For me, stuff like Japanese video games and anime had storylines that blew me away. Maybe it's the same kind of effect for them.

dusk 910 Posted November 25, 2012 I remember reading article that shooting stuff really doesn't belong to Japanese culture, so the shooting games feel really "abnormal" to most of them and that is why they don't make shooting games or play them generally. But as people already have said: They get unique experiences from games like that because they don't usually playing games like that.
