protoave14 21 Posted November 18, 2012 (edited) So, a little back story first. My school has a 3 year Theater program (Theater 1, 2,and 3). I skipped 11th grade but came back to take Theater 3 since it's my senior year. So I've basically known this one Theater teacher for all of High School. He's really wanted me to be in a play, but since I have a busy schedule, I haven't been able too. Theater 3's main project is to put on a play so I thought this would satisfy my teacher since I'd finally be in one, but he is still pressuring me to audition for the main school play. I honestly do want to do the play, but with my schedule and transportation issues (I don't have my license yet), I can't do it at all. He's a pretty sensitive guy and he really likes me, so I'd like to let him know in a way that 1) let's him know I can't do it and 2) says it in a kind, but forceful way. Any suggestions or tips? Iamkingdomhearts1000 1,170 Posted November 18, 2012 Well if he can't understand your predicament even after you told him about it then don't bother with him.
trueSora 14 Posted November 18, 2012 Hi protoave14, I think the best thing to do is to find time to tell your teacher (if he willing to listen) why you haven't got time (what's in your schedule if it isn't too personal). Always be honest and kind to others and yourself. Things don't always work out the way you envision, however keep true and happy and look forward to the days ahead - believe in yourself and you will know what to say. I hope what I said there helps. Best of luck
khoathkeeper13 429 Posted November 18, 2012 Why don't you talk to him about the schedule and transportation issues and maybe you both can find a way to work around it somehow? If it was my senior year I'd definitely be trying to find a way to figure it out somehow, even if its a small chance it'll work, its still a chance. Maybe you can only go to some of the rehearsals, and someone else in the play could give you a ride? He sounds like he should understand if you can't work it out, so I wouldn't worry too much about telling him you can't do it.
