Master Eraqus 1,340 Posted January 11, 2016 I think you missed the point. It's not a matter of whether she is helping people or not, or which position has her help more people. The aura transfer that she would have to go through in order to become the maiden will potentially change who she is. Losing yourself is a big deal. Your entire identity, personality, etc. gone. The drama is turned up to 10 when you think about the other people in her life. If she were alone, she'd make the choice in a heartbeat. But she has her family, Nora and Ren, and Jaune, people who love her for who she is. She doesn't want to leave those people behind. When Jaune said that she should follow her destiny, she burst into tears because she knows that what he wants will hurt him, perhaps most of all. Exactly. Especially considering the fact that Jaune said that that's what the Pyrrha Nikos he knows would do and if she goes through with this, she might not end up like the Pyrrha Nikos he knew. 1 PrinceNoctis reacted to this
PrinceNoctis 1,011 Posted January 11, 2016 That doesn't have anything to do with why Pyrrha is sad. Yes it does. Not directly, but it has to do with the choice she has to make. If Pyrrha doesn't become the Fall Maiden and Amber dies before the brotherhood finds another guardian, Cinder gets all the power. Meaning that an evil killer will become one of the most powerful beings on Remnant. I'm not sure that's what Pyrrha considers as "saving the world". So basically her choices are pretty close to "Become a maiden, save the world but lose yourself" or "Become a huntress, let Remnant fall into chaos". That's not why she's sad, she's sad because she knows that to save the world, she's risking everything she is. I don't see how the drama is forced. It's a hard choice and I'd cry too. 1 Master Eraqus reacted to this

You know, I'd probably actually care more about this scenario if this character in question wasn't crap. Or if any of the characters weren't crap. But I don't and they are, so... meh. Either way, it's still stupid. She's given a chance to do even more good than she set out to good and the only thing weighing her down is this forced drama with a little bit of shipping bullshit. There's not even the implication that she would become a different person, she'd just have more power. It's not like she's going to be locked away in a long tower guarded by a dragon or some shit. Amber clearly showed that the Maidens can pretty much do whatever the Hell they want and don't need to be watched 24/7. Like most conflicts in the story right now, it's a total non-conflict, and again, would probably actually mean a little bit more if the storytelling and characterization were actually being done well. That's not true though "Ozpin: The question is... Qrow: What's that going to do to you? Ozpin: You have a tough decision in front of you Miss Nikos. There's no guarantee this transfer will work. And there's no telling if you'll be the same person if it does." RWBY VOLUME 3 CHAP 6(the dumb expo chapter)2015 It's heavily implied that aura is something that constitutes a person's entire being, and getting someone else's aura is not the same as just casting a healing spell or some nonsense. Their aura is theirs, and your aura is yours. The two mixing is entirely unprecedented, and no one knows what will happen, but the common thought seems to be that Pyrrha's identity will be compromised as a consequence. OmegaForte 1,674 Posted January 14, 2016 Not much is shown here for the Coming Up video it basically teased what we all knew what was gonna happen, the two fights, Penny vs. Phyraa, and Ruby vs. Mercury Looks like after the fight, Ruby runs with her semblance in use (about time), but dem curved paths! Can she escape? e.e
TheKingdomkid 1,194 Posted January 16, 2016 Well the fights are underway and Ruby makes the smart move of running away. While Emerald is again using her illusion power to make Phyraa see things she isn't seeing and it results in what we all think was gonna happen...poor poor Penny (who by the way is incredible at fighting in my opinion). and the result is that a lot of people have a lot of negativity and then Cinder makes a big huge speech which results in more Grimm showing up and finally attacking the city. Meanwhile Neo frees our favorite criminal master mind, Roman yay he returns! and Adam shows up bringing white fang and more Grimm. All I have to say is things are really coming to a head here and really excited to see what's next Heads up everyone next week is a World of Remnant and then the last Three episodes of the season get ready! Master Eraqus 1,340 Posted January 17, 2016 (edited) My thoughts on Chapter 9: O_O. My heart literally cannot stop beating SO fast! For the majority of the chapter, my face looked gasped, my arms and legs were shaking and my hands where on my head. This episode just got REALLY intense and I KNEW that the episode was gonna end on a huge cliffhanger cause next week's a WOR. TheEightMelodies 152 Posted January 17, 2016 (edited) 'This isn't fun anymore...' - Pretty much me on my first watch. Wow this episode took a dark tone. However I do like it! The episode seemed to fly by waayyy faster than normal. Poor, poor Penny. I'm pretty sure we all knew what was going to happen though it still really hurt. She was one of my favourite characters and seeing her just get ripped apart by her own weapons was horrible. Now to wait for 2 weeks. I hate long cliffhangers... Please tell me that I wasn't the only one who noticed one of Junior's men in the audience at 8:55 during their first watch. Yeah! I did too! I'm pretty sure at least one has appeared in past episodes too. Guess they just love that popcorn! Edited January 17, 2016 by TheEightMelodies
OmegaForte 1,674 Posted January 17, 2016 (edited) I'll summarize it in one video: Not going to lie, I actually expected Penny to get killed but... And we want Pyrrha with maiden powers? Pls nerf. Jk... oh god how darker this just got. Please tell me that I wasn't the only one who noticed one of Junior's men in the audience at 8:55 during their first watch. lol I'm glad they added this to ease with how darker RWBY got. PrinceNoctis 1,011 Posted January 17, 2016 I don't get why Mercury didn't try to like capture or kill Ruby? And is Ruby dumb or has she figured out that Mercury and Emerald are responsible for what's been happening? I still don't get what's Cinder's plan...And how did the White Fang manage to take Grimm into the city? x) Can they control them? o.o Excited for next episode but I hope we'll finally find out what Cinder really wants 'cause it's more than time. Firaga 5,947 Posted January 17, 2016 - "PvP". Pyrrha v. Penny. Ha. - And again, this fight should end in five seconds. Thirty seconds at the most. But I already know it's not going to, so whatever. - She's asking some legitimate questions Mercury, what are you doing here? - Oh sure, now we're getting on the "Polarity" train. Well, let's see, she's going to deflect them and throw them back at Penny, and then what, she's gonna d-GOOD GRAVY... uh... er... wow. Probably should have expected something like that, but I honestly didn't... Serious!RWBY engaged. - With the amount of people who just saw that, especially after seeing a kid get shot in the leg, I'm surprised the Grim aren't already in the kingdom. - Well I guess Ruby v. Mercury didn't turn out to be much of a fight. - "... to men who claim to be our guardians... nothing more then men". Hate to nitpick, but a woman just caused a supposed murder, not a man. You could have just said "people" or something. Even if you're referring to the higher-ups, Glynda is also a woman. I don't know, it just kind of sends the wrong message when you word it like that. - Soooooo Cinder's plan is to cause anarchy... how does this relate to extracting the Maiden power? Is it just a distraction so you can infiltrate the secret base where she's kept? Is Pyrhha still involved or... blegh. - Oh hai Neo. And hai to you too Torchwick. I guess you're going to be used for something else. - Aaaaaand so will Adam and the White Fang. Glad to see all these things coming together near the end of the volume without any build up. - Also, didn't we already do the whole "Grimm attack a city" thing last volume? I mean, we don't have an excuse to just wrap it up this time around considering we have more time, but still. - Noctis had a good point too, how did the White Fang get the Grimm in the first place? Alright, now we're getting to the "climax" of the volume. Everything is going to shit. Cats and dogs living together, mass hysteria! And yet, I don't feel like that's the case. You can probably guess why. At this point, I don't know what to expect or what I want to happen, I'm just looking to see how far the rabbit hole goes. Still, as for this episode, it actually wasn't that bad. 7/10.

R.I.P. Penny If you haven't played GE, I'd suggest you don't read on if you don't want to get spoiled with the game itself. This could be foreshadowing/be related the events in GE. Marlow Industries may have attempted to capture Grimm in the past, but later on it's implied they (or someone else) did and had experiments done to them as well. This is hinted during the encounter with modified Grimm. Where I'm going with this? There's ways to capture these by this time around.
