Edit: They talked about a few things on the live stream about the differences between, Aura, Semblances, Dust, and now Magic and how we will learn a little about magic earlier and then more later. How Monty had the story of the Maidens early on.The tone is going to be different for the rest of the Volume from here on out. The schedule for the rest of the season is next week a world of Remnant, then chapters 7, 8, 9, another world of Remnant, and then chapter 10, 11, 12. And the season will wrap up around Valentines day which seems like a big deal with how Miles reacted to that so that could be something to look forward too. Gray also said that this is the end of the beginning that Volumes 1 2 and 3 where the build up to an even bigger story and how those volumes are Act 1. I don't know if this live stream will be archived for people who missed it but that is the most that came out of it besides also some talk about the video game and how they might release it on different platforms but right now they are focusing on steam. They talked about the Japaneses dubs and some stories from that and the manga as well, and some merchandise as well as a possible RWBY art book similar to the one they have of Red vs Blue.

Interesting. Blake and Adam of course. Heheh. And what type of merch? So interested in what they will bring on the table.

This weeks World of Remnant was something different, also in the Rooster Teeth store they are selling limited items such as wall scrolls and other Japaneses stuff so you can get it while you can!

2 days late with the merch news. All have been sold out since.

The World of Remnant was interesting but not necessary. That last bit about one going offline and the whole system going dark though was very intriguing, and is definitely foreshadowing what will happen, considering the fact that Cinder's hacked into the system.

Like Ember said, the WoR wasn't really needed, but is probably signaling something that will happen later.

Again, this is the kind of stuff that should into the episodes and not made into a tutorial video, but whatever.

Think of WoR as RWBY's equivalent to STAR WARS title crawls, relevant in-universe information that adresses particular events in a out of universe manner that are not properly explained in the movie/episodes itself.

But the difference is that WoR isn't a part of the actual episode.... If you weren't an active RWBY fan that sought out new content each week, you'd have no idea they existed, nor gain access to the information within them.

Sry for Double post buttttt

EMERALD IS SEXY AS firetruck

Oh, some Cinder backstory. I'm pretty excited for this chapter.

I'm gonna guess this is gonna show us Cinder meeting Emerald (adorable hair  :3 imo) and Mercury, her teaming up with the White Fang and taking part Amber's powers cause I'm gonna guess that mystery girl at the end was Amber.

EDIT: Was that Adam in the tent?!

I'm 99% sure that was Amber at the end judging by the colour scheme.

Also, Cinder's words: "I want to be strong. I want to be feared. I want to be powerful." Partially why she wants Amber's Maiden's power. Is there another reason??

Cinder's recruiting Adam to lead the White Fang. WHYYY... BUT more Adam.

BUT WE NEED TO KNOW YANG'S FATE WHY RT WHY MUST WE WAIT ANOTHER WEEK

Well Chapter 7 was interesting to say the least got a little background on Emerald and Mercury and a little on Cinder as well.  I didn't like the scenes when it was just a black screen and people talking but I guess those scenes weren't that important.  Very interested in the meeting that Cinder first had with Adam and the white fang and oh guess what happens right before the Black trailer.  And now to the important part of the episode where they trick Amber (voiced by Laura Bailey by the way) with an illusion possibility by Neo but I think Emerald had something to do with it as well.  Well something happens so Amber knows that what she saw wasn't real and begins to fight Emerald and Mercury and oh shit during one of Amber's attack on Mercury we learn something about him, robot legs. Eventually Cinder shows up and attacks as well Amber puts on a great effort but eventually losses all of her Aura but can still fight and was about to hurt Emerald it seems before Cinder fired one last arrow that actually pierced her back (It's because her Aura got destroyed she was able to take actual damage kind of similar to how Mercury got his leg broken in the previous episode).  And Cinder puts on a glove that steals Amber's power but here come Qrow to save the day.  Cinder goes back to persuade Adam one last time and then we are back in the present and the bad guys are going to make sure that their next match up goes according to plan as well. I have to say it was a pretty good episode and Gray was right during the stream a few weeks ago the tone has changed now for the series I guess could've dealt with less of those back screens while people where talking parts but I see why they did that but yeah the fight was great and wondering what the next episode is going to be.

Whew I dodged a bullet!

RWBY seems to be geting darker and darker.... It used to be fun and uppiy at times. The fight scense are comedic, but the charm is starting to fade. Then again, I've been expecting this backstory episode.

I hope they bring back the fun that was in the earlier chapters.

Thought on Volume 3 Chapter 7:

WOW.... This chapter was extremely dark. I found this episode to be very enjoyable.

Glad to have learned a LOT of stuff in this chapter. We finally learn who was the one casting those illusions but darnit I lost my bet. xD I was so sure it was Neo, but in hindsight, it's very fitting for a thief like Emerald.

But the one thing that kept me in shock was Mercury this Chapter. Like WOAH, this dude killed his own father and it was hinted before that he disliked his father as he stated he was an alcoholic in Chapter 3. Heck, even the revelation of him having robotic legs surprised me. Though I'm a little mad cause I feel like I was spoiled of this from fan theories, but hey, it's really my fault in the matter.

Overall, I loved this chapter greatly, mainly from it's extremely dark tone and while I wasn't used to it when watching this chapter, I'm sure I'll get used to it after watching it again and again for the next few hours. xD

Can't wait for Firaga Sensei to somehow find this episode terrible and say that the writing is terrible or something like that.

Let´s get the spoiler tag party keep going !

I didn´t expect Cinder to somehow be able to control/create Grimms and steal the maiden power with it, kinda underwhelming as i was specting something more elaborated but i guess sometimes simplicity is more fitting.

RobotLeg Mercury...still Mercury did nothing and Yang still attacked him, she´s guilty !!

Emerald is an illusionist type user, ok, still how the heck does it work ?

How does Lighting, Wind and Fire(?) relate to Autumn ?

Good to have some backstories (or something) in our villans,

Score: B

The illusions are probably her semblance. What I'm really curious about is that Emerald said that she was manipulating two people's minds. One was obviously Yang's but whose was the other?

Isn't Autumn usually the time of storms? I don't know mainly because of where I live geographically. xD Sunshine most of the time for me. Did she use fire cause I can't remember that? (EDIT: Never mind. Found when she used fire.)Maybe all the Maidens have the same powers but each specialise in certain elements/powers like maybe the Winter Maiden specialises in ice-based powers.

- Just a comment on the decision for the show to get darker from here on: I'd like to clarify that I'm not a fan of making things "grim-dark" for the sake of a supposed increase in quality. However, RWBY actually is pretty dark in general if you think about the premise a little, so it's not really a problem for me if the series wants to go in this direction and focus less on comedy. Let's hope this means the writing actually gets better too... though, I'm not crossing my fingers on that claim.

- Oh yeah, that's right, Adam is aligned with Cinder now... when's that going to actually be relevant again? Along with the alliance with the White Fang? Or the White Fang in general?

- Ah-haaaa, the "train". You know, the train, as in the train from the Black Trailer, and all that jazz.

- You know, you go to the trouble of showing flashbacks for Adam, who has barely interacted with Cinder's group in current time, but nothing for Neo? She's kinda important. I mean, you keep spamming her illusion technique in current time, and do the same to take out the Maiden in this flashback, so some insight would be appreciated.

- Kinda doesn't seem right for the Maiden to be all stabby-stabby after the initial sequence. I mean, yes, she was attacked first, but wouldn't the more sensible option just be to run away? And would choosing the more sensible option be more likely to be chosen by a supposed Jesus-powered Maiden who does no wrong?

- Cinder has the ability to suck out Maiden power with a weird glove and a beetle. Let me guess: magic?

- You know, the whole "black screen and voice audio" thing is ominous and all, but who is Cinder supposed to be talking to after the Maiden scene? Also, if her powers are incomplete, why did she look like she could control it just as well as the Maiden she took it from?

- Also, what about Torchwick? How did he fall into the picture? Or did you forget about him too?

- "My leg! My leg!" Pfft... sorry... couldn't resist remember the Spongebob quote.

- At this point, Cinder can disguise herself as literally anyone she wants to and still get away with it. Heck, she doesn't even need the Maiden's power at this point, just throw on some more disguises and take over all of the damn kingdoms already. lol

- Oh hai Neo. Good to see you on screen for once... not really, I still hate you.

- Random spike in Grim activity because...?

Once again, I'm still on withdrawal from last week, so this week is not exactly nauseating in comparison. Then again, not too much happened plot wise except for a few explanations. And hey: explanations. You know, coherent information about stuff works and how stuff happened. More of this please. I mean, if you're going to parade around this "Maiden" concept, you might as well do it well. Of course, let's just see what happens next week as things can always just fall apart come next episode. But for now, I'd give this week's episode a 7/10.

The Grimm spike was caused by the fear from the audience. That was the intention, to bring the Grimm into civilized areas.

Also...

  • I am wondering who the other mind was that Emerald was talking about controlling. Yang was one, but who was the other? And why bother adding in another person to witness the illusion?
  • Fantastic fight sequences here, they're improving with their smooth animation.
  • I have to agree with Firaga in that it doesn't make sense Amber didn't hesitate to attack. I guess it was sort of a showcase for her maiden powers, but still. Towards the end of the fight she actually looks like she's going for a finishing blow and I was like "Woah, is this really supposed to be in character?"

Anyway, this episode was pretty good. I'm glad they tied in some backstory for all of this, but I reeeeally want the plot to move forward! Let's go let's go!

I found this episode to be very enjoyable. Not too many other thoughts. In any case, I'm glad that we've cleared up that it's Emerald who can use the illusions, and not Neo. I also appreciate the revelation of Mercury having metal legs.

The Grimm spike was caused by the fear from the audience. That was the intention, to bring the Grimm into civilized areas.

It was more of a rhetorical question.

Really, I'm was once again pointing out the lack of clear exposition as well as the reasoning for the Grimm to be triggered in the first place. If Grimm are supposedly triggered by this, then why does it only happen when the plot wants it too? If its so easy to attract them, why didn't Torchwick just use them to invade the kingdom instead of going with his complicated train plan last volume? Or, why didn't he just stir up some trouble in Vale with the White Fang? How big does the influence of negative emotions have to be to even lure in a horde like that? Do they have some kind of sensitive third sense that allows them to pick up on emotion? Is there scaling when it comes to this sensing i.e. sensing one person's negative emotions is far less likely to be sense than a group of a dozen people?

See, I wouldn't have to ask these questions if the show was able to master the ancient art of "exposition" instead of just leaving it to lore videos, which half the time just provide more questions than answers.
