Firaga 5,947 Posted March 25, 2015 Hard to guess considering he and Sun both did jacksquat in Volume 2.
Ruby Rose 8,591 Posted March 26, 2015 (edited) You're forgetting when Torchwick threw Sun in Chapter 4, Firaga Sensei! If Neptune hadn't been there to break Sun's fall, he would've been a very dead monkey Edited March 26, 2015 by Ruby Rose

Ruby Rose 8,591 Posted March 26, 2015 Well in Volume 2 both Sun and Neptune serve to prove Weiss and Blake aren't lesbians Not like that will ever stop me the shippers, though 1 Arya Stark reacted to this
Firaga 5,947 Posted March 26, 2015 They also sat around and didn't bother to help with anything else. Which is disappointing. Especially for Sun since in Vol 1 we learned he has gun-chucks.

Emrys 3,192 Posted March 27, 2015 Which amounted to absolutely jackshit. unfortunately for you RWBY is filled with roosterteeth references. to many of their other content and discussions. the whole 2 useless detective things happens to be one of them. aka most of the jokes will be lost on some people

He meant that them being detectives was a useless punch line, and while he may have found it funny, still did nothing for their character. As for the whole deal with them doing nothing... Well, it's difficult. The whole of volume 2 was what, an hour and a half? It's tough to have excellent developments and plots and scenes revolving around them when there is so little screen time to divvy up anyway. So, if we have to sacrifice a fight scene for Sun and Neptune for the excellent development the main team saw, then I see no problem with it. I want to see them more, but I'll wait until "Season 1" concludes with volume 3 before I actually say anything. 2 Reyn and SorrowSurvivor reacted to this
Firaga 5,947 Posted March 27, 2015 The detective bit is funny. Hilarious even. But like Mine said, that's not my point. Sun and Neptune, other than dicking around or, more over in Neptune's case, being a love interest for Weiss, did nothing in Volume 2. My gripe runs more with Sun because, well, he played a good role in the last Volume (not to mention he's one of the best characters in the entire series plus, once more, gun-chucks). Neptune I can't really beat up too much. Most because we haven't been given enough to really work off yet. Still, it wouldn't have hurt to see both him and Sun play a bigger role other than being a couple of lumps on a log. Especially since pretty much any team other than RWBY at his point needs to give us a reason as to why we should care about their existence.

True Sun is like one of the best characters of the show besides Mercury and Ren (in my opinion) and Sun had a great introduction to the show in Volume 1 and then he got really down played in Volume 2 along with his team member Neptune, which I still think it's strange he is the only memeber of Team SSSN we saw in Volume 2 considering that we saw the whole team in the opening of the season. Maybe they will be developed more when they are together with their team members and I hate to be that guy to say that but when the whole team is together hopefully they do get better developed along with their team mates. BlankShell 638 Posted March 29, 2015 That actually made me fell bad for Glynda for once. And hate Ozpin even more. Why wouldn't you feel bad for Glynda? She's stuck around awful obnoxious teenagers all day and the only person with more say than her constantly undermines her decisions or makes really weird enigmatic choices. She has no authority at all. I always feel terrible for her =P.

BlankShell 638 Posted March 29, 2015 Because she's a bitch. Although here at least I can understand the undermining. There's no excuse for her bitchy attitude later on though.I think it mostly has to do with Ozpin's stupidly carefree attitude, which is explicitly shown to be causing problems overall at the end of Volume 2. He doesn't seem to care as much as he should, and nobody knows why that is.I mean, I'm sure she's a hardass at the best of times, but she's also running a school for superpowered teenagers with attitude. They wrecked an entire dining hall! Bitchiness is required.

Both her and Ozpin together.I liken it to the reverse Peter Principle; she's more competent than she has the ability to exercise, which is terrible in and of itself. But in a show where the kids are supposed to be the heroes, I'm also unsurprised at the lack of assistance coming from adults. Just gonna be one of those things.

Her and Ozpin are pretty much the Big Goods of the series though, so really, they have to be more competent, especially when dealing with Big Bads like Torchwick and Ironwood.
