OmegaForte 1,674 Posted December 16, 2014 A bit of showcasing on threezero Ruby (skip a few minutes ahead): Threezero really nailed it. I love how you can attach CS behind her. If only it fully transformed, but it only looks like the blade part can. Hopefully more than 90 degrees, but it doesn't look like it can. /:
Hero of Winds 2,576 Posted December 17, 2014 I REALLY want the Threezero figures, but they're way too costly...I would have to go for broke on Ruby and spend more than half my income taxes on the rest, 'cause lord knows I won't save any money from regular checks for them over the time they actually spread out along. 1 Yang reacted to this

Firaga 5,947 Posted December 19, 2014 You know, I just realized something: Team JNPR has pretty much gotten the shaft, and that deeply upsets me considering they are my favorite team. One major thing that contributes to that is Nora and Lie Ren, and by that I mean their characterization. I mean, Jaune and Pyrrha have done well for themselves so far, but Nora and Lie Ren? Well... we don't really know too much about them, other then Lie Ren is a composed and quiet person while Nora is... Nora... and most of their screen time is dedicated to them fighting enemies or putting them in some sort of gag-related comic relief. We never see Lie Ren or Nora talk about their lives, why they joined the Academy, what drives them to become a Hunter/Huntress, or even interact that much with their other team members (sans a couple of moments, but that's not really enough) or with their other classmates in the other teams. They're just there, and frankly, if they're going to be saddled with a couple of more well-developed characters like Jaune and Pyrrha, they need to step it up a notch, and we should see more from them as a whole so that they can have a stronger presence other than just "the one team that's not Team RWBY", because they're obviously supposed to be more than that. 1 Skai reacted to this

I'm kind of getting this feeling that Volume 3 is supposed to be Ren and Nora's volume, considering Jaune had the first, and Pyrrha took the second, I'm almost completely sure that at least one of Ren and Nora will be developed then. Also, if you've listened to "Boop" a song on the Volume 2 soundtrack, that song alone has more development for those two than the entirety of the first two volumes. Of course, nothing confirmed, just vibes and thoughts I've been having on the matter. Ren is my favorite good guy character, and I cannot wait to see him and his partner in action more. 1 Firaga reacted to this

While it does paint a good picture of characterization for Nora's feelings for Lie Ren, it doesn't really say anything other then "Nora loves Lie Ren" and that's it. There's a little bit there to think over, but other than that, it's not really something that holds any significant telling of either of the two characters that the song features. Going from this song back to the actual show, the two still need a lot of work. Edited December 19, 2014 by Firaga Sensei

Kyouma-Blade 90 Posted December 19, 2014 I'm going to go off on a rant about RWBY here. I've only watched the first volume of RWBY, and put the 2nd volume on hold right now since I haven't been that interested in it. I have no idea why it's so highly regarded. Forgive me, I may have spoken blastphemy here, but I want to discuss this. So, the trailers. Ruby's was the best imo, while the others were meh. Special mention to the voice acting in Yang's trailer; god awful. 1st episode was also meh. Awesome action scene, but the rest of the animation was like they only spend 10 minutes on it. Those cookies... Moving on, I feel like the characters are cardboards personality wise. Again, I've only watched the first volume so far, but one season should be enough to develop your main cast. If anything, they focused the development on the wrong person, Jaune. I would've liked it if they developed Team RWBY first, then moved on to the supporting cast. I suppose the reason this show, and shows like One Piece are popular would be for the action, which I can't fault you for. However, I would like something more, because it's an interesting premise. Can't argue the music isn't amazing though. One of the best soundtracks I've heard so far. Sorry for the wall of text. I want to know your thoughts, maybe you can convince me there's something more that I missed in Volume 1. Maybe you can even convince me to continue to watch Volume 2. I want to know your thoughts, maybe you can convince me there's something more that I missed in Volume 1. Maybe you can even convince me to continue to watch Volume 2.Volume 1 isn't godlike in terms of entertainment. Of course, I enjoyed it, quite a bit, but I'll admit that it isn't the finest thing ever. The animation is a tad clunky, of course the cause for this is a new team working with a new software with a different style than any of them had used before. I don't blame them for the weird animation.I like the characters. They all have goals, motivations, personalities, and their own unique weapons and abilities. But. A lot of these are not fully explored. A lot of volume 1 focuses on the relationships between characters and straightening things out. Like Weiss getting over the fact that Ruby is the leader, and then begins to trust her more. Jaune's relationship with the other members of his team, and admitting to his mistakes, and becomes willing to get extra help. Weiss getting over her hatred for the White Fang through Blake. Blake becoming more comfortable with her team. All of these relationships are explored and become resolved, at least for now.The action is amazing. Some of the best choreographed animated fight scenes in history, definitely among the best in American animation. Story is pretty trivial. They don't put too much emphasis on the main plot for volume 1. That is disappointing. It is a lot of world-building, character development, and asking a bunch of questions that don't get answered. Now, I've pointed out that Volume 1 isn't all that. But Volume 2 is a different story. They explore more character personalities, and a whole lot more of their motivations and origins. Also, the animation is a lot better, save a few spots here and there. The Action is a lot more common, and even better than before. Main plot is pushed more, and even though it doesn't answer a lot of questions, it shows promise. Soundtrack remains amazing. The ending was subpar, but the journey there is infinitely better than Volume 1. So basically, give it another shot. Volume 2 is better. If it's not your thing still, I won't blame you though. 2 Kyouma-Blade and Firaga reacted to this

I remember seeing your point about how the staff wasn't familiar with the software before, but that shouldn't really be an excuse if they were paid to do this. If anything, they should've at least not make it seem so rushed on the non-action parts. They'll need to figure out that work schedule. I like the characters. I apperently forgotten about those relationships; I'll take back what what I said about Team RWBY being underdeveloped. Still, Yang had little screen time for being a main character in Volume 1. No argument with the action. Definately up there with shows like A:TLA. Yeah, I also found the story disappointing, but I guess it can't be helped if they limit themselves to ~5 minutes per episode. I'll go ahead and see where RWBY Volume 2 takes it. Thanks for your reply.

That's a very fair view of things. There are a handful of problems with RWBY but it has potential and I've sat through much worst (and longer) anime. I believe the creators said that they consider "Season 1" to be Volumes 1, 2, and 3 so it might be worth watching all 3 to see if they can pull things together. Every aspect of the show gets better in vol 2 (most notably the animation) and with how the story plays out I can imagine the antagonist finally doing some big significant things in vol 3. If anything watch it for the sake of picking out things wrong with if like this guy who did a long critical review of all of Volume 1. I disagree with many of his points (like saying Ruby learning to wielding a scythe is a plot hole) but there are plenty of true things he points out while being very funny about it. He has small reviews of Episodes 1 and 2 of volume 2 with the full review of all of it coming in January. At the very least, you can watch volume 2 just to get a few laughs out of his reviews if you enjoyed the vol 1 review. 1 Kyouma-Blade reacted to this

Hopefully it will make itself something beautiful in the later volumes. Very relieved to hear Volume 2 keeps consistancy with the animation with how much I've already watched of it. I'll get back to this video when I have time, but it sounds like something I would enjoy. Hey now, no need for that. Some of us think that there's things to be improved, it doesn't mean we hate the show or anything. It's not really negative either... sort of... in more ways that one, it's actually positive. To answer your question: no, I didn't notice. We see right before that it shows in the background what I assume to be Crows symbol which has gear-like things just like Ozpin's symbol. We already know Ozpin knows Crow from Vol1 ep1 but usually characters have vastly different symbols (except Adam and Ruby having a rose ) so they may be brothers? or at least grew up together? In terms of Volume 3, even though Weiss said they got plenty of training fighting the White Fang and Torchwick, I still hope they go through some kind of training thing. Maybe introduce a new ability like two people combining their semblences to do a special attack. Also, I'd like to see a lot more of the other random Huntsmen students and their weapons even if just briefly so that it won't seem like the 4 teams shown so far are the only ones who matter. Plus it'll make the tournament more interesting if we get to see some cases of two unknown characters fighting it out.
