FF7 Training Question

Recommended Posts

Hey, we like it well enough to have a Final Fantasy section, so you're fine!

I'm the kind of person who likes to keep the whole team on the same level, and there are a few times when some of the party members aren't in your party for a bit, so that can be helpful, but it probably wouldn't hurt if you really wanted to favor a few of them.

I say favor some and do at least a little bit of grinding on everyone., but in most cases you should be fine. That is what high level materia is for! heh heh.

should i do the grinding on the other in my down time in the game or like fight a boss with them. i'm not that far in the game. i just started disc 2 and want to ask what to do before i do something stupid in the game. my main team is Cloud lv 18, yuffie lv 18, and red XIII lv 19. all the rest are lv 16 and am wondering if i should train them also instead of focusing on Cloud, Yuffie, and Red XIII.

Keeping a single team is okay, less time wasting, and I suggest you don't do much with Aeris. She's weak. Period.

At the end of Disc 1, you have the party you're going to be with for the rest of the game, if you haven't gotten the secret characters, so that's the point when you should decide what party you're going to stick with.

EDIT: Just saw your last post.

Focus on your current party, but I recommend you replace Yuffie with Vincent.

I think with VII you can focus on just the main party of your choice. In most other FFs there comes a point where you need to use your whole party, but I honestly don't remember there being a part like that in VII.

when do i get vincent? and yuffie is my fav charicter so i might replace red xiii with him.

i know you get him at cloud's home but how do i get there? is there a way to get there right after i crossed the oceon in the game? (the part where they disguised as solders)

oh and EDIT: if i focus on one party should i take away the other guys' meteria too?

Go into the Shinra Manor (the big building) and go upstairs to the safe.

http://www.ffinsider...ing-vincent.php This should tell you the rest, since the code is a bitch to get.

Edit: Now that I read it again, lol, no, you have to continue the game normally until you get to Nibelheim.

That is a good team. I say you should focus on those three, sources and everything on them. since you are kinda early in the game it wouldn't hurt to keep up on certain materia. I personally like using "enemy skill" it is a nice materia to have especially near the end. Also good tactics to keep in mind.

-Healing enemies = use confuse on them

-Dead/zombie like enemies = use an elixir if you find you aren't strong enough to beat them. Cure3 also helps

-Weakness = try to use weaknesses when you can. Ex. Fire/ice

-Limits = if you feel a boss is coming try to finish enemies with summons so you can have your limits for the boss.

You're confusing me a bit. You say right after you cross, but then you've got Yuffie? If you've got the Buggy from Dio, then go west until you reach it. If you hit a wall, then hug it north and you should get there.

You got Yuffie before you crossed? ... I'll just pretend I know how that's possible.

Dio is in the Golden Saucer. You can get there by going north from Costa del Sol and taking the mountain path to the cave.

Just to make sure, did the game prompt you to switch discs or did you just randomly do it?

FFVII has leaked experience, so even if you never use certain party members, they won't be lagging too far behind. The only thing you'd be missing out on is their higher level limit breaks, which isn't that big deal in the long run. A party's real strength comes from their materia, which can be switched around freely. If you have a dream team, so to speak, your other characters won't really be suffering.

it IS posible becouse you are able to get her right after you meet rude and the others at the cave. and how do i get past the draw brige?

and i'm using the ps1 clasic for the vita so i dont need to switch discs.

You can go with pretty much any party you like, I went with Cloud, Tifa and Barrett, it was balanced combination with good limit breaks. I don't suggest you to use Yuffie too much because her final limit break "All creation" or something is kinda weak. Also Yuffie can be found from any forest in the game (thats what I have heard and experienced)

She has some cool moves and has many useful abilities, but she isn't that effective against hardest bosses of the game.

Ah. Okay. But the reason why we don't suggest Yuffie is because she's only useful when it comes to chocobo breeding and stealing.

But yeah, basically you can have any party you want. There comes a point when party leaders switch constantly and you're forced to use those characters, but you don't need to powerlevel them or anything. Vincent's better because his limit transforms him into a powerful creature which is in effect until he falls in battle or the battle ends.

There's a few points in the game where you'll have to play without various key party members (and the final boss requires you to use pretty much all your playable characters), so in order not to limp through those few points I'd suggest keeping your side characters no lower than 10 levels below your main party. You can alternate to keep everyone on the same level, but that takes a great deal of dedication and at some points you may find that your main party is too weak from lack of training. However, all your characters do gain experience points after battles, even those who aren't currently in your party. They just gain considerably less, so it'll take a lot longer for them to gain levels versus those in your party.

As for Vincent, I backtracked to Nibelheim near the very end of disc 2, but I know that you can acquire him as early as the middle of disc 1. I've seen walkthrough videos on Youtube explaining how to get Vincent into your party, would you like me to PM you a link? If memory serves me right, it's a requirement to go through Nibelheim at least once throughout the game, so either way you won't be missing out on getting there if you wait a while. Vincent's one of my favorite party members and always manages to find his way into my main party, along with Tifa and Cloud.
