Thought we should have an official thread for this. If for some reason you want to discuss the movie's trailer instead of the actual film, here's your link.

Plot:
So Wreck-It Ralph is the story of a video game arcade bad guy (John C. Reilly), but the thing is, he doesn't want to be one. He resides in a dump near an apartment building, and dreams of becoming somebody and being praised by the Nicelanders of the game, as his heroic counterpart, Fix-It Felix, Jr. (Jack McBrayer) is. He finally decides to put his plans in action after the events of a party celebrating the 30th anniversary of his game, and travels through the various games in the arcade to obtain a hero's medal, which he believes will get him the admiration he so desperately craves. However, his plan soon becomes entangled with the ambitions of young Vanellope Von Schwartz (Sarah Silverman) who wants to finally be in a race in her game, Sugar Rush. There are also cameos and references to a bunch of real video games and a hot sci-fi shooter chick named Sergeant Calhoun (Jane Lynch).

Other Info:
Distributor: Walt Disney Pictures
Studio: Walt Disney Animation Studios
Release Date: November 2, 2012 (United States)
Director: Rich Moore
Running Time: 108 minutes (1 hour, 48 minutes)
Preceding Short Film: Paperman

Reception:
Rotten Tomatoes - 85%

No, Kingdom Hearts characters are not in this movie.

Saw this today, it was an absolutely amazing movie. If you call yourself a video game fan, you owe it to yourself to see this. (Or if you just like animation in general). So much fanguy/girling is to be found. Edited by J. Severe

Your poll. It enrages me.

I might see it but I'm more interested in Rise of the Guardians to be honest. I might not see either but I'm waiting for the latter to come out and see what comes of it.

I was really impressed with the storyline and the characters (especially Ralph and Vanellope)

It was a good movie, really funny and childish but had it's sad moments too

you can't tell me I was the only crying when he was falling towards Diet Cola mountain to save Sugar Rush. IT REMINDED ME OF THE IRON GIANT AND I WAS JUST THERE WITH TEARS IN MY EYES

The only problem I had was with Sergeant Calhoun

her character wasn't as relate-able or likeable as the others (and she wasn't even awful enough to hate so :I )and the whole TRAGIC PAST stuff put me off but I understand that was intended but just her character wasn't as great as everyone else.

Overall, I liked the ending and

how they didn't leave the whole 'going turbo' shit just be like 'oh this happened once and it looks like it's gonna happen again'. i was pretty happy with Turbo being the antagonist at the end because I personally did not expect it??? I was just bothered that the antagonist was brought in towards the end of the film but not too much

Also the short at the beginning is gorgeous!!

Everyone go watch Wreck It Ralph

Tonight, there is an old drive-in movie theater in my area, my family and I are going there at 7 or 8 to watch a double header consisting of Wreck-It Ralph and Frankenweenie. It'll be awesome.

I pretty much agree with everything here. Although, despite Sergeant Calhoun not being insanely likable I was okay with it just because the whole "tragic past" joke made me laugh. lol The movie wasn't quite as funny as I had hoped, but the art, wit, and the fact that I almost cried like three times made up for it.

If you noticed, my whole profile (including Avatar and Signature) have been Wrecked. I have even made my Christmas List into the style of the movie. I saw this movie right after school with my mom and the teacher she works with with her kids. I really enjoyed this movie, and not just because of the whole being about video games thing. I thought that the real element was the heart that this movie has. My favorite thing about this movie is that it shows what it takes to be a hero, its not about the medal it is about having someone just accept you for you. I don't even mind the movie spending most of its time in Sugar Rush cause of this element. I truly think that this movie is the right thing for Disney to get back in action because this movie felt like a true Walt Disney classic. I truly think that we will be hearing alot more from Ralph and the gang, and I am hoping for a sequel where Nintendo would work out a deal to put Mario into it. The only thing I didn't truly like was how creepy Turbo was when he was exposed from his alter ego, but I also liked it because it remind me of Xehanort. But all in all, I truly love this movie for what it has instore.

On a side note, I also enjoyed the short film Paperman before the movie. I didn't know about it at all being with Wreck-It Ralph, but once it started I enjoyed it. I really like the way it was silent and didn't focus on so many characters but the man, the woman, and the paper, with a few extras to bring along the story. It reminded me of videos we have watched in my broadcasting class at school. It was really good in my opinion.

Ok, so I went to see Wreck it Ralph yesterday and (minor spoilers) when Ralph is in the Hero's Duty suit he steals from the guy at the tavern, he runs into the Game Central Station. It's opening time and everyone is running to their games, except Ralph, who is having trouble operating the suit. When it shows him in first person looking through the orange visor, you can hear the Low HP audio from the Kingdom Hearts series. While this isn't a visual difference, it is still neat to hear audio from this game. Here's a sample of the sound from Youtube...

By the way, the movie is very beautiful, but the story line is simply too kiddish, but if you are a die-hard video game fan that's older, then you'll be happy since the movie relies heavily on references...

Thoughts? Opinions?

This movie isn't coming out in the UK until Feb 15th next year, ugh. We're the last to get it apart from Japan...

But...

Video games + Owl City singing + Kingdom Hearts reference? New favourite movie.

This movie was awesome. It's definately a must-see if you love arcade and video games. I can definately see a world based off this movie being featured in a future Kingdom Hearts game (most likely 4).

I can only imagine how much this movie is going to be dissected by fans when it comes out on bluray. There is so many tiny details from what I heard that there are probably tons of video game references.

Yes. I´m planning to do that mwajajajajjajajaa
