Kirux 1,224 Posted November 3, 2012 I cannot find the source any longer, but from what i remember of an article i read a while back there was a member on one of the teams for FFII with the name of Cid, and they used his name for that game and it just sort stuck like an inside joke/easter egg for the fans. Same reason there's always been Chocobos since FFII and Moogles since FFIII, along with tons of other monsters like Behemoths and the summons, I guess.
