So, since Kingdom Hearts 1.5 HD Remix is coming out for the PS3, I figured I would buy it when I figure out a release date. Then, I got to thinking about FF games. I've watched Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children but that is it!!! I've never played any Final Fantasy games! So...what games should I get!?

I recommend Final Fantasy VII, Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII, and Final Fantasy X.

I'm currently playing FFVII and I really want to kick Sephiroth's ass for what he did.

I beat Final Fantasy X, and I love the shit out of it. Since I grew up with Final Fantasy X (and SH2 :P) FFX > FFVII imo.

Then there's Final Fantasy 12. It had its' flaws. Still a good game though.

FF xiii and xiii-2

13 is also something I'd suggest, but 13-2 utterly destroyed what 13 built up. It took a shit on Snow's pride. Edited by Snow

i agree in term of story FF13 ended fine and 13-2 just killed that >.>

Also for the OP if you plan to get a PS3 there are plenty of FF games on PSN. Also get FFXHD when it comes out PS3 because i plan to do that myself

FFVIII is my favourite, but it's battle system can be a bit complicated.

FFIX has a GREAT story, and a pretty easy system to understand, plus one of the best soundtracks.

I personally reccomend FFXII, but it has a battle system that it's really like any of the other games. It's characters and story are simply beautiful though, and it ties with FFVIII for me as the best.

Final Fantasy VII: Crisis Core, it's similar to KH BBS.

FInal Fantasy XIII amazing graphic for PS3.

Final Fantasy XIII-2 nice to have for following the story of FFXIII.

Final Fantasy Dissidia it makes u know all FF classic heroes.

Dissidia is not a good game for beginners; it spoils EVERYTHING from all of the games :/

VIII is definitely not a good game to start on. To get the most out of the game, you pretty much HAVE to use a guide.

13 is also something I'd suggest, but 13-2 utterly destroyed what 13 built up. It took a shit on Snow's pride.

XIII-2 also feels a lot more like a Final Fantays game

FF xiii and xiii-2

They're all well and good on their own, but not really a good game for getting into the franchise

Play VI first. The gameplay is the easiest to pick up, it gets you introduced to most of the elements of the FF universe, and out of all of them, the story is the most coherent to follow.

Very much this. Though, if you play this one first, you'll have nothing better to turn to afterwards! http://kh13.com/forum/public/style_emoticons/default/ohmy.png

FF VI is very good game to start with. The first FF is good game to start with too, but it's little bit more merciless to beginners.

Here is list of games you should play (of course you should play them all, but my favourites):

FF VI (Has the best villain)

FF I

FF V (The best game in the series)

FF IX (Best musics)

FF XIII and -2 aren't half bad games to start with, but they really don't introduce you to classic FF playing style

Final Fantasy IX. It has a brilliant story, the best music in the series and is very easy to jump into gameplay wise.

Final Fantasy VI. There aren't enough words to describe how great this game is.

I recommend this two , the gameplay is simple but fun, easy to understand, and the stories are good enough (and they are my favorite games ;) )

Final Fantasy VI because it has good characters and good story. Plus you really can't die because as soon as your character bends down and looks depressed it takes you back to where you last saved. I think you keep your levels too, but you loose your items.

Listen to this man, TC honestly. They are the two best FF games and are the easiest with simple gameplay. So you'll have the ride of your FF life without getting stuck anywhere or needing to adjust to gameplay.

I'd recommend VII after since it has a very good story too and is very simple gameplay wise. After this you should be good to pick any others.

The older FInal Fantasies are more difficult than the newer ones, so if you're wanting something simpler to start out with I'd go with Final Fantasy IX or above. My favorite Final Fantasy was VI, because the characters and story were just too awesome, but Final Fantasy VII shortly follows it. I wouldn't recommend starting out with FF 1-3 because they lack in the story department, but also wouldn't recommend Dissidia. Some of the characters are kind of OOC, not to mention it'll offer every spoiler that exists within the Final Fantasy franchise.

If you have a PSP, the first Final Fantasy game I'd get would be Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII. That was literally *the* greatest game I ever played as far as characters and story go. The gameplay is also a lot more simplistic than other FFs. Also, if you're looking for a shorter game (more like 17 hours versus 30-50 that you can easily put into a standard Final Fantasy), Crisis Core would be the way to go.

Really, the greatest Final Fantasy comes down to what appeals to you. Do you like medieval times with knights and monarchs? If so, go with either IV or XII. Do you like stories where rebellions are formed against greedy, oppressive nations? Go with VI, or possibly VII. Futuristic? Either XIII, VII or VIII. Not everyone likes each Final Fantasy equally--as you'll come to find--but you'll have to sort of find which one suits your interests and go with that.

Really, no one recommends V? It's along with IX,VII, by far newcomer friendly game in the series, not to mention it has a simple, yet with some depth job system, also you'll get some laughs with both the story and dialogue in the GBA version. All in all, a very newcomer friendly game along IX and VII.
