Didn't know where else to put this as it's not exactly a KH topic per se. Wish the site had a Disney topic section.

This Is not a "Will it happen" thread. This is a "What would you think if it happened thread"

I've been thinking. What if Kairi were inducted into the Disney Princesses Franchise? She has all (or will have) all the requirements.

 

1.Kingdom Hearts is a very successful franchise (all the Princesses movie had big box-office gains)

2.Anyone who's watched Nashville knows that Kairi's English VA (Hayden Panettiere) is a good singer (all the Princesses can sing)

3.The secret ending of 3D hinted at Kairi becoming a strong woman (Mulan, Pocahontas)

4.She has a love interest (C'mon guys/girls, do I really need to explain this one)

 

The only things keeping her from being inducted are the facts that she has yet to sing on screen and that she's from a video game not an animated movie.

 

"But Kairi belongs to Square, not Disney." You say? Wrong. The deal was that Square could use Disney characters if Disney could use the original characters created for the game. Proof of this is that Sora statues have appeared as several Disney Parks since the launch of the first game albeit rarely and only to promote new entries in the series.

 

"But Kairi's not really a princess!" I hear you cry. Well neither are Mulan and Pocahontas, but they were inducted because of the difference they made in their cultures. (Mulan saved China and Pocahontas fostered peace between the Brittish and the Indians

 

"What do you mean Pocahontas isn't a real princess?" You may ask. Well, while she was the Chief's daughter, the Native American leaders were democratically elected making Pocahontas about as much a princess as Sasha and Malia Obama or the Bush twins.

 

So I ask again. What would you think of Kairi joining the official Disney Princess lineup?

If done well, I would be up for a movie about Kairi. Actually, I think the story of what Kairi was up to while Riku and Sora were busy gallavanting about Castle Oblivion would be very interesting.

If that happened, Kingdom Hearts would go mainstream. But it won't. Because if they did, they would have probably done my idea and have Sora show up on a episode of Mickey Mouse Clubhouse...which should and would never happen.

 

Let's be honest, that is the curve they would take with this. I'm fine just seeing Kai-Kai in these games, thank you.

also, she's got missing parents as well. most of the princesses are missing at least one parent.

I honestly doubt Disney has enough rights to Kingdom Hearts characters to go ahead and use them like that.

What do I think? I'd really like Disney to stay out of this as much as possible. I get that they have to be involved, but too much and it just won't be Kingdom Hearts anymore.

I think KH3 could make or break this idea..It's kairi's chance to shine so if she succeeds like i hope she does I can go with this . If they waste this oppertunity , then not so much .

I think it sounds nice

In KH2 she seems like a Mulan type person. She tries to fight off Axel and she refused to stand on the sidelines in KH2.

I think a movie dealing with her life between the end of KH1 and her appearance in KH2 would be interesting

there would be a whole lot of character development to include since she did change a lot in KH2.

Though I dunno if there would be much of a story

As for an entirely new movie, I don't think there would be much that doesn't involve changing Kairi's character

It is a good idea, but it all depends how they deliver. that is what will truly make it or break it.

Kairi actually has almost no qualifications for a Disney Princess what so ever and if she were one all that means it that she'll be whored out to Hell and back. "Disney Princess" really isn't all that prestigious a title, it just means that your name and mug rolls in the dough. With that said it wouldn't make a difference to me whether she was one or not. It wouldn't change how I see her in her home games and the only thing I would be curious about is the other media she'd appear in and how she'd be portrayed but ultimately it makes no difference to me.

It sounds good. If they can pull it off then it could turn out great. I don't really care that much about it though.

Meh I'm not opposed to the idea I think it could be cool if they did it right, but at the same time if they don't do it I'm not going to lose any sleep over the matter lol.

 

Although, Disney princesses are known for having a whole line of products based off them, barbie dolls, bed sets, costumes, even tea party sets probably, I think that might be kinda weird, to see her face plastered over things like that.

Oh my gosh, what if Sora was on Mickey Mouse Clubhouse?! He would probably walk in, stare for a second, and then run out screaming something along the lines of "make it stop, make it stop". He would probably also repeatly smack himself in the head with his keyblade trying to get the songs out of his head.

ehh she already used a keyblade so make her 1 of the light disney bring in another princess PLUS do you want sora as a king?

I prefer Disney to stay out of it. They don't have enough rights to actually do make her a Disney Princess, right?

I'm not sure how much legal right Disney has over the KH exclusive characters but either way Kairi doesn't really have the qualifications for a Disney Princess.
