KH3: Worlds That Won't Work - Cars

Recommended Posts

Hello there. Firaga96.

If the title didn't give it away, I feel like mulling over some opinions and thoughts at, what else, the big number 3 that will eventually come...hopefully soon....really, with all this waiting time, we have loads of time to spend speculating, right? lol.

Anyways, I figured I'd give my two cents on certain worlds, new worlds, specifically, that the fan-base have already picked as options for debuts in 3, and, uh, to my chagrin...I don't necessarily agree with. This is open for other opinions, so don't hesitate to argue.

So, the first world I'd figure I talk about is Cars. Cars is a 2005 film starring Owen Wilson and Larry The Cable Guy of all people about a world where cars and vehicles are the main species to live and they can all talk. The main focus of this movie is, what else, racing.

Now, I won't go into further detail about the movie because I don't want to spend half this first post writing a summary...I'm going to assume most of you know what this movie is about anyway, since we are KH fans and to some degree, to most people I would think anyways, are Disney fans, so you probably saw this movie when it came out, like i did. As for those who didn't, well, I apologize. I recommend opening up a new tab and Google-ing it real quick, read some text, then come back.

Okay, so Cars....uh, here's the main reason I don't think it'll fit....because the main aspect of this world would involve Sora and whoever's in his party in KH3 (I don't assume D&G because I'm optimistic; who knows? Maybe Master Riku will finally step in as a permanent member), and I got to say....yikes...I mean, the whole Lion thing in Pride Lands is okay, but a Car Form? Uh, I think that's a bit too far. We're talking about human flesh being converted into metal and oil, and I really don't think that'll work.

Second off: where's the fighting? Sure, cars bash into each other, but they don't have hands to hold Keyblades or anything...unless Sora sticks it in his gas tank. (Imagine that. lol.) Plus, there's no main reason to fight Heartless or anything; yeah, Chick Hicks or even the Italian car from the second film are pretty douche-y but I don't think they're evil....I mean, you gotta be pretty rotten to control Heartless; Maleficent kidnapped princesses; Clayton tried to slaughter gorillas Jafar wanted the whole world under his control....and Chick? Well, he called Lightening a couple names....and that's about it. Other than that, he just raced against him...and in hindsight, there's no real harm in that. There's a difference between cruel and being evil, y'know.

Lastly....how would this work in storylining? Does Sora and co. accompany Lightening to visit Radiator Springs? Do they do a mini-game where they tractor tip with Mater? How do we fit in the LA race at the end of the first movie, or the international circuit in the second? Are we gonna play 007 Miles To The Gallon with Mater, also like in the second movie? I don't know....maybe it'll be post 1 and 2 and Disney could think up another story arc...but even then, I don't see anything too logical.

Final Verdict: Cars is a world that will not work in Kingdom Hearts. The elements that help these movie properties tie in with the properties of Kingdom Hearts just aren't there, and even if they are...it still seemed weird.

Make sure to leave your own opinions below, whether they be pro-Cars or anti-Cars.

Point One: Sora could just remain a human, and they could say he's a weird looking care. Alternatively, there are always keyblade riders.

Point Two: They can fight with keyblade riders. Also, didn't the villain cheat during races, or something?

Point Three: They'll take the basic plot, and heartless or whatever, and have that go where it goes.

maybe Sora in car form just uses magic xP.

Maybe as a minigame world like Atlanica and the BBS races.

I dunno

maybe you can race in your Gummi ship against the characters.Finding some way for that to progress whatever storyline (I have not seen the movie)

But the whole idea of it sounds somewhat awkward

Car form fighting would be in the form of going fast. Otherwise, YOU'RE TOO SLOW.

"I see what you did there...." xD

Remain a human? Weird looking car? So would that have worked in the Pride Lands? I don't it would have.

Ooh, Keyblade Riders....there's a idea. That's actually pretty interesting...although, it seems kinda unfair, doesn't it? I mean, I'm sure a Keyblade Rider or even a Gummi Ship for that matter can outrun a normal car. If it can't, well, there's a problem here.

I don't think the "add Heartless" formula works here. So your saying that while Lightening toils away in Radiator Springs to earn his freedom, Sora just acts as the town's protector and fights off Heartless whenever they show up? That's the plot I'm seeing.

Mini-game: maybe.

Gummi Ships, as I already told Hatok, should be naturally faster than a normal speeding car. If they weren't, then we'd be taking even longer to get to worlds in KH1 and KH2.

What if the worlds are really close together and Gummi Ships don't actually move that fast?

Well there must be some other abilities with the cars other than them talking.

Plus Disney is good at making up weird random bullshit so it should work out

1- You really don't think that would work? It's a very common handwaving mechanic used in cartoons.

3- Sure it would. "To repay your debt, you ahev to stop these weird monsters that have been appearing lately!"

In fact, this scene is very easy to imagine: "Nobody uses this road much anymore..." "Because of the heartless?" "No... *Explanation*"

They're not really. It's just that Normura has the decency to make them seem closer so that we don't have the follow the law of nature where I can't just take a few steps and I'm on Jupiter. (IMO)

They do. You can't move in space like a car with so-called "Heartless" transformed into battleships blasting on you to and fro. Miles per hour be damned. You have to MOVE and only ships like the Gummi have the horsepower to get from point A to point B the way they do.

I'm just saying, we don't have any way of knowing exactly how far apart the worlds are or how fast the ships move.

Yeah, we've seen it before. Doesn't mean it always worked. I mean, let's be honest, it'd be too out of place. At least in the other worlds, Sora meets people that sort of look normal in their own way and can someone adjust...sans graphical design, I'll admit...but still, walking around with talking wild animals or talking cars is a bit much, don't you think?

What debt? Lightening would be the one to screw things up, not Sora. Unless he'd get shived and have the blame thrown on him the second he enters the world. That'd be a dick move on McQueen's part, and I don't want to hang around a dude that is so easy to screw people over like that. You know he would too, you saw how he was in the first act of Cars 1.

Plus, the road thing....uh, what road? A new road made for the game? That leads to some base where an main villain has set up camp and so that Heartless can frolic about and steal hearts from car people? We need some more depth here. And some reasoning, too.

I'm just saying, we don't have any way of knowing exactly how far apart the worlds are or how fast the ships move.

Here's a better picture: imagine driving a car in space while traveling to other worlds....

There you go.

Disney worlds don't follow real world physics. You can't use real world logic on disney worlds. They could be as close as they want to. What if the Gummi Ship's top speed is 10 mph and some worlds were 10 miles away from each other? It would still take a minute to get there.

That's not really my point: the point is that a car compared to a Gummi Ship or a Keyblade Rider should be slower. If it's not, we'd be getting creamed by Lightening in this so-called world....yeah. Let's go through that...plus, let's be honest, the worlds really are far apart: they have to be or else they'd bump into each other. Not miles, obviously, but even so, that taking a car to get there, to and fro, or just to land would be impossible.

what if they never move? then they wouldn't bump into each other at all.

I mean that they'd be too close to even try to enter. Besides, I'm pretty sure two planets being really close to each other isn't a good thing.

They don't have gravitational fields, and they have an unexplained barrier around each world, cutting them off from the rest. They aren't planets.

They have all the same properties, so why not refer to them as such?

Remember the scene in the Tutorial of BBS and when Donald and Goofy see the star go out in Traverse Town in KH1? I think it's safe to assume that the worlds are pretty far apart considering the lights emanating from the worlds are very small.

They don't have the same properties. Besides, the worlds seem to be about the size of towns and cities, not planets.

How's that? They seem pretty big from a dude in a Gummi Ship's perspective. Remember the "poop" scene from 1? When Donald and Goofy dropped out of Disney Castle? They seemed pretty small compared to the big world they came out of.

The worlds don't have to be very far apart to show up as small lights when they aren't that big to begin with.

Then where is all the stuff in all the worlds? Also, a Gummi Ship appears to be only just big enough to fit Sora, Donald, and Goofy in it's cockpit. A castle is large when compared to a car. Edited by OthersiderME

I haven't seen Cars so take my opinion with a grain of salt, but just from the concept, I'm anti-Cars. I can buy Sora as a merman or a lion or a piece of blue data in a computer, but a car? That's a bit far-fetched even by Kingdom Hearts standards. If Sora and co. remained in their original forms, they'd be too out of place since Cars doesn't have humans or anthropomorphic animals (Pirates of the Caribbean gets a pass since they have zombies and a Cthulhu pirate, so Donald and Goofy weren't that weird). Of course, this is a purely Your Mileage May Vary thing. Maybe they could make Cars work, but I personally can't see it happening.

LOL I'm imagining Sora as a mini van, Donald as a duck car boat, and Goofy as an old pick-up truck xD

But in all honesty, I have no idea. There are a couple worlds I thought were too out of whack to use in the game but *poof* it worked. I guess it depends on how they want to write the story and characters. For me, it's hard to picture Sora, Donald, and Goofy in a Cars world but then again, KH could surprise us.
