TheApprenticeofKingMickey 3,689 Posted October 30, 2012 I'm not that torn up about this. I mean, don't get me wrong. I really like Star Wars. But let's face it, folks, it's not Citizen Kane or The Godfather. The original movies were based off of the hokey Satruday morning sci-fi serials on TV and comics. There's not a lot of integrity to ruin. I say, why not? You can't make a movie worse that Attack of the Clones, so go nuts. Or a worse script. "I don't like sand. It's coarse and rough and it gets everywhere." 1 baylaust reacted to this
baylaust 2,531 Posted October 30, 2012 Well, consider me skeptical. I'm a huge fan of Star Wars. All of the movies (except AotC. That one blew). But I don't know what there is left to do. Star Wars is one continuing storyline, and the story is wrapped up. Unless they do all new characters, I'm not sure how it will work. But hey, if they make a good movie, I won't complain. 2 Snow and moogleman reacted to this

I don't know… the books I read from after Return of the Jedi and then the new material that was written into the EU after the prequel trilogy came out, I felt like it was really poorly done. J. Severe 1,137 Posted October 31, 2012 (edited) Wow, this is the last thing I expected to happen today. Disney's buying everything nowadays. First Marvel, now this! But really, I think this is good news. They'll probably handle the IP better than George Lucas, and we won't get any more edits to the original trilogy (and hey, who knows, maybe Disney will release them in their original form on Blu-ray soon). And Episode VII could turn out to be really great -- with a good director/producer, a fantastic script, and today's special effects, with Lucas apparently serving only as a creative consultant, it could really be something. Plus, this combined with Avengers 2 in 2015 confirms that Disney will be continue to be rolling in dough for quite some time. To be honest, I'm really surprised Disney only had to pay 4 billion bucks. I would have thought the Star Wars franchise would be worth a lot more than that, not to mention all the subsidiaries that Lucasfilm, Ltd. has with it (Lucasart, Industrial Light & Music, etc.). George must have been pretty desperate. Interesting that Indiana Jones isn't mentioned really at all in any of the news articles as much as Star Wars... maybe Paramount holds more rights to that than Fox did to Star Wars, so Disney doesn't fully own that now too? Sora'sMum 352 Posted October 31, 2012 Dude. Disney bought Pixar and they started canceling original movies to make sequels So what you're saying is, you didn't like Toy Story 3?
hatok 6,413 Posted October 31, 2012 So what you're saying is, you didn't like Toy Story 3? Nope. That's ridiculously stupid logic. It's like if I said that Squaresoft started to decline after they merged with Enix, and you repleid with "So you think all Square Enix are terrible and never should have been made?" It's really stupid to say stuff like that. Have you actually heard of the original movies Pixar had in the works? There was some really interesting stuff that got canceled. I don't know… the books I read from after Return of the Jedi and then the new material that was written into the EU after the prequel trilogy came out, I felt like it was really poorly done. There's good and there's bad. It's a matter of taste WHICH EU stuff you'll like, but I guarantee there's some out there, sheerly on the virtue that there is so much of it.Personally, I think the story of The Force Unleashed (NOT the sequel though) is one of the best post-trilogy things to come of Lucasarts. 1 TheApprenticeofKingMickey reacted to this

No I haven't heard of them. Besides the fact you were quite rude in your reply, you made some half decent points. But I must say that it was Pixar's choice to sell, and George Lucas' choice to sell. Disney didn't force them. As far as I know, that is. So we really have no right to complain at this point in time.

dusk 910 Posted October 31, 2012 (edited) American mediagiant disney has reported that they have bought Lucas Films with over 4 milliard dollars. Also, the Lucas Films has announced that they are currenly working on seventh Star Wars movie which should come out in 2015, after that there should also be eight film coming. The rights of Indiana Jones is also in hands of disney. The maker of Star Wars series George Lucas has said that he wants to give Star Wars to new generation. The first Star Wars movie came out in year 1977, during its' 35-year life time, Star Wars has earned about 4,4 milliard dollars. So what do you guys think about this? I personally find this very surprising. I'm also very scared of new Star Wars movie and can't say that I'm all hyped for it.
