LibertaerGER 5 Posted October 19, 2012 (edited) Could it be said that KH is "so bad it's good"? Though that implies that people come for the badness of it but from my experience people either ignore its flaws or try to justify them. I'm sure some people see it that way but it doesn't seem to be the majority. Some others experience a clash with reality and see flaws where aren't any. You could nit-picking about the story telling, about the cherry Disney characters but in the end it makes sense. This is really being blown out of proportion, flaw infested? These games are pretty good compared to the super flawed competition. Every game has some flaws, does that mean its bad? no. It's pretty easy to look at the bad aspects of a game The perfect game is made by yourself. Allways happy endings and deep like the deepest ocean. PillowHead 569 Posted October 19, 2012 I think it really comes down to this fact: We, the "original" KH fans are getting older, and quite frankly, the series is becoming either too childish or too predictable for us. Not to mention it has repetitive themes in every game, which is why some like it, but makes it feel bland for others. Most of the secrets have been revealed by this point in the series, so that's another factor. I personally think that KH3 is going to be terrible, because I thought KH3D was terrible. And by the point KH3 is finally over and series continues past the Xehanort Saga, I'll be to old to care about the series at all. So, for me, Kingdom Hearts is pretty much over. But, like I said before, I still wanna see how it finally ends up. And that's why I'm still here, I guess it's just up to you if you think it's worth caring about or not. This is probably a big part of it. I was a teenager when I got into KH and was just young enough to see it as magical and thought it was the best shit ever. I'm now pushing twenty two and I don't feel the "magic" anymore. KH isn't terrible or anything It's really just silly People like KH for its silliness, for the Disney, or for the anime-ness of it True, as much as I gripe about it sometimes I've never considered the series terrible as a whole. It's not that I don't see any good in it what so ever, I think it's partly after being with it for so long it's gotten tiring. 1 PillowHead reacted to this
Hyperion 144 Posted October 19, 2012 I'm starting to dislike this series. I would like it more if it was more mature, but that's what FF is for...they need to make a KH game in which Sora is not as annoying and happy, he pisses me off, or just drop him and bring in Riku. If KH3 isn't even announced by 2015 I'm leaving this series then, probably delete my account too.
Axtwyt 500 Posted October 19, 2012 Simple: we want to know how it ends. We've stuck around long enough to want to stick around for the finale. Of course, for me, the flaws are just criticisms. I adore the idea, but I do hope the series begins to evolve into a new game when Xehanort meets his end.
TheOriginalBob 110 Posted October 19, 2012 I'm still a huge fan of the series and always look forward to news about new releases and what the future holds. Pretty much every game in the series is fun to play, you wouldn't believe how many times i've replayed Kingdom Hearts II. I just love the core gameplay of running around hitting things with my keyblade, ducking, dodging, blocking. It was the way i always wanted to play a Final Fantasy game. What my major gripe with the series is the story telling. Kingdom Hearts has a very good narrative, so deep with meaning and characters you care about with top notch presentation and attention to detail. it's just very badly told. So many times they purposely leave out rather important plot points out of the games cutscenes. You have to look through the games respective journals or interviews from the games creators to get a better grasp of whats going on. An example off the top of my head is Vanitas' appearance, the answers are there if you look for them. But it really should have been in a cutscene somewhere. Also i hated how Castle Oblivion is never even mentioned in KHII, even people who played COM probably wonder how Sora's pod ends up in Twilight Town. I do love the way each game has a hidden ending if you go that extra mile. It always strikes up a good storm amongst the community and it's fans about what it could all mean and what the future holds. I remember a time Roxas was simply refered to as 'BHK' or 'Blonde Haired Kid.' Now look where he is. I'll always stick by this series to the very end even given it's flaws (some gameplays elements of 358/2 days still gives me headaches) and continue to look forward to future news and trailers. 2 Kishira and aaronarrgh reacted to this
Noobles 301 Posted October 19, 2012 You can say anything you want about Kingdom Hearts, but I'll always love it. It's has the most complicated stories I've every ran into and has a unique style of gameplay. They have actually good cutscenes and most the cutscenes have a meaning or purpose. The characters are the ones that shine. You feel so connected to them wishing you were one of them. They show lots of compassion and beauty in each character making them all unique. Sora and Roxas. Even though Roxas is Sora's nobody, he's quite a unique person by himself. I use to the be the "Eww, Kingdom Hearts, it has disney stuff." But you realize these aren't the same Disney characters you expect to meet. They aren't the dressed up characters at Disneyland that take pictures with little kids. I loved Mickey, but now I love him even more. To add on the complicated storyline/plot, I'm pretty sure the majority of the fans wants to know how it ends. But I think Square Enix doesn't want to make KH3 any time soon with 1.5 and possibly 2.5. Plus the PC Spin Off...

Sora_Roxas26 124 Posted October 19, 2012 there is not one single flaw in all 7 kingdom hearts games i have, and beating each of them 8 or more times gives me the authority to say so, because 8 multiplied by 6 (with the 3D being new and Chain of Memories being diff i have only beat both games 8 between the 2) 48 times i have played through a Kingdom Hearts Game, i will say that the minimum number for avg play time is 40 Hours (i want everything), this is the bare minimum time i have spent playing all the Kingdom Hearts Games, 80 Days, 80 DAYS AND THAT IS THE LOWEST I COULD MAKE THE NUMBER ITS PROBABLY LIKE 115 DAYS, AND I AM PROUD OF IT, BECAUSE I AM SICK 24/7 SO I HAVE AN EXCUSE TO PLAY GAMES CONSTANTLY
ReikuSSR 1,071 Posted October 19, 2012 I have a love hate relationship with it that's slowly turning into loving to hate it. I've been with the series for a while already, about five years give or take, and after a while you just become jaded when you realize that game after game (there where only three when I got into the series) has the strange feeling of adding things without really progressing. Now I'm just sticking with it until KH3 comes around because after I've invested so much time into the series I want to at least see the "Xehanort Chronologicals" to the end. Which is still a ways away...Someone hold me ;_; it's okay. *hugs* Me I love it and always will. They are fun games to me and I love the story. I do much like to see a KH game centered around the FINAL FANTASY worlds next.
ReikuSSR 1,071 Posted October 19, 2012 (edited) It is like a piece of our heart is in the game and we all have a piece of the game in our hearts. It makes no difference whether it has flaws. We got into this game because we all felt a connection to it. No matter if it was KH1 or DDD that got us into this game, were all into it and I believe we all are into it because it is like nearing an end to a great book. Some want it to end, some feel they want more regardless we are all into to the end, and with that we all are what allowed it to be what it is and that is a great game series that will never be forgotten by those it touched. MAKS 86 Posted October 19, 2012 It seems to me we should have more reasons to hate it than not. Thanks to the recent posts, I'm honestly clueless. Are you implying that there is something that is not flawless but indeed perfect? If so I'd love to hear about it. If not, then of course Kingdom Hearts has flaws; so does every other form of media. We love Kingdom Hearts because we do. Just like you love a lot of things from your childhood that was flawed. You like it because you do.P.S. Don't take this post offensively. There was no sarcasm implied.

Most of those threads were started by hatok and he just love to make fun of the series for the sake of it. I've come to realize he doesn't mean anything bad by it but his intention doesn't come across when you can't hear his tone. I do think the series kind of started to loose it's touch in when they started focusing more on OCs (I'm looking at you Organization XIIIs) I liked the story of the original the best because it was like playing through a Disney movie "rescue the princess, save the world". The Disney games based on the movies just can't compare. Edited October 19, 2012 by Sora_Kuno
Dave 5,715 Posted October 19, 2012 When Kingdom Hearts is flawed, it's glaringly insulting, horribly cliche, needly complicated, and something of a mess. BUT! When Kingdom Hearts is good, it's a fantastic, heartwarming, artistic, moving, sincere, funny, sad, and emotional piece of genius. And though the flaws might be more noticable, I think there is more than enough of the good to warrant the love that I give it. 1 hatok reacted to this

Fates Chance 60 Posted October 19, 2012 This is the first gaming series I ever fell in love with and followed. I've been with the series for close to six years now and I still love it. Now looking back at the first couple of games and looking at the most recent, I do feel as though it's loseing some of the elements that made me love the game. I mean, it doesn't feel as heart felt or serious much anymore(like the feel in com and kh2) But that's probably because everything is coming full circle, coming to an end. I mean in the beginning, sora had to go find his friends. He found them, then lost them again. Then he went to look for them again. That was just an emotional roller coaster and gave an sentimental feeling that no other game I've ever played has given. FAst forward to end of kh2, sora has found his friends and rather than that being the end and living happily ever after, the story that has been up to kh2 has changed, and so has the feel of the game. To less of a looking for your friends and the ones u love to more of a 'save the world' feel.
