I really like Xion, but instead I don't like Kairi. I don't hate her, but I just can't think o her as a Member of the Group... For me, she's just like Tidus and co... Nah, maybe a little more important than Tidus... Something between Tidus and Pluto.

It's kinda like this. I think Xion's a great character cause from what i've seen she reacts to depression the same way a lot of people do. And her story line was depressing (those feels...). She was an afterthought,but the best afterthought i've seen so far. Plus she's pwetty

And then there's kairi. She's pretty, but i find her to be annoying mainly because she seems to be an excellent definition of the word "useless". But then there's people who probably like her.

Everyone has their opinions and reasons. They can be stupid opinions/reasons, but they're still someone's way of seeing things from a different angle

Why is do people dislike Xion? Its in part due to the people that "love" her and say she is "the best character ever." Everyone, beware, you are about finally understand the truth behind "Xion-haters". You are about to be enlightened.

 

To my understanding most of the xion-haters feel more or less neutral with her, perhaps some disliking. Her voice annoys me a bit, but Terra's is much worse. Then there is the writing of the character. Xion was reverse engineered into a part of the plot that was already explained. She is redundant. You can like her in the game just fine but citing she was necessary for the plot is an outright lie. This is the basis of why people dislike her. Now to demonstrate why people hate her, let me bring up a couple of quotes:

(first of all you could at least answer the op, but what I'm really trying to get at is) The "hater" sees this and explains how this doesn't at all justify why she is the best character ever.

 

What!? Where are those people at!? You can't hate on people...even video game characters. For example, Terra isn't one of my favorite characters, but I don't go around hating on him! People...without Xion...Sora wouldn't be where he is right now. Roxas would NEVER have broke free from the Organization!

 

And the hater goes on to explain that it was already explained in kh2, and the reason given in days in completely redundant.

And when the hater sees that there is zero use in explaining there is a legitimate reason for disliking her, the hater (more accurately a disliker at this point) joins with others. They know it is futile to even explain why she actually isn't the best character ever (she is actually quite flawed in the sense of the work of the writer) and they truly become haters to have fun in a hate club and share both insightful and witty reasons why Xion is a bad character. They rejoice at their inner circle knowledge and and ironically throw back haters gonna hate.

 

Kingdom Hearts has diverse fanbase from yaoi to Disney princess addicts to people who are too old and too intelligent to waste their time theorizing on a franchise with dogs and ducks walking around on two feet.

 

To sum it up, people hate her because reasonably explaining why she actually isn't the best character ever in the face of many of the quotes I brought up most of the time just isn't going to work.

yeah I've found that most Xion haters just won't take the time to explain WHY exactly they hate her. Also, a bunch of people say that she is a Mary Sue. I mean, yeah she does have some Mary Sue characteristics but so does every character in one way or another. You could argue that Sora is too happy and optimistic and therefore is a Mary(Gary) Sue. Most people have no valid reasons for hating her and just say that she's "annoying". It pisses me off. If you dont have a well thought out reason on WHY you don't like a character then don't go around complaining all the time. For example, I love to bash Kairi, but instead of just saying "she's annoying" I actually have reasons for me hating her. Sorry I'm kinda ramblingXD. But yeah if you don't have a good reason for hating a character then keep your mouth shut.

I would like to respectfully disagree. Re:coded was garbage. But this is about why Xion is not liked.

 

Another thing I have to add is how I disliked how she reacted to Roxas in this scene:

I personally do not find anything hateable (is than even a word? ) about Xion. There are a lot of other characters in this game that are way worse than her. And yes, she did go overboard by taking out the keyblade, however, now that I watch the scene again, I realize she was trying to defend herself more than she was trying to hurt anyone.

Roxas didn't threaten her, though. She pulled her keyblade before Axel showed up. Hewas trying to talk to her, she wasn't responding and was just walking away, he tries to follow her to get her to open up, she pulls her keyblade. she was doing it as a 'back off move' The point stands that if she had come clean about everything right then, there may have been a better solution than what happened.

I like her. 358 being my first in the series, I understood only vague stuff. But one thing that left a huge impression on me was her traumatic death TT^TT I don't care about the ice-cream line, one line that struck me was: "You both are my best friends, never forget...that's the truth." And the next moment she dies.

 

According to me, however she's been in the past, be it stupid or careless or utter garbage, that line wiped me clean. Besides, I liek her more in the manga

I am not a Xion hater by any means but I'm going to play devils advocate here. People don't like Xion because instead of telling her friends the truth about her existence and letting them help her she runs away, tries to take on everything herself and when cornered draws a weapon on her best friend, (Although the same could be said for Riku in KHII) This gives the impression that she didn't trust her friends to accept her for who she is and thought "If I don't leave them, they'll leave me" yet she still calls them "friends".

 

To me the "Mary Sue" argument doesn't really hold water because Xemnas and Vexen designed her to be an emotionless puppet. And isn't that the very definition of a Mary Sue? I mean you can't really hate her for being a Mary Sue if that's what she was supposed to be now can you? It's like hating Sora for being the happy-go-lucky protagonist, or hating Donald for being the hot-tempered comic relief.

Actually, I really like Xion. She's sweet, quiet and a very good friend to Axel and Roxas. Problem is, she plays such a minor role in the series that I tend to forget about her. There's definitely other characters I like more, but Xion's a good character and I'm glad she was added to the series, last minute or not.
