The Transcendent Key 12,109 Posted September 26, 2012 Hey guys, I was thinking about posting this topic, and I think now is as good a time as any to do so. So then, I love the Final Fantasy Series, and my favorite spin off series is Dissidia. And since I know that there are a few members here that also love Dissidia, I decided it would be nice to make a topic in which Dissidia fans can share their thoughts on the game, and theories and thoughts on a possible sequel. So I invite you all to take part in this Fan Club. This topic is for veterans and for novice players that are new to Dissidia. So, to introduce Dissidia to new players, it's the story of two gods named Cosmos, the goddess of harmony, and Chaos, the god of discord. These two beings waged war on each other for countless eons, and they summoned warriors to fight for them. These warriors are familiar Final Fantasy characters such as Lightning, Kain, Cecil, Cloud, Squall and popular villains such as Golbez, Kefka and Sephiroth. These warriors fight endless cycles of battle, and with each cycle, their memories are erased, and they don't remember any of their past experiences. I won't spoil anything for the newcomers, so this just serves as an intro so that Final Fantasy fans that have never played Dissidia can get in on the fun. Now then, I strongly recommend that you buy Dissidia 012 (Duodecim) since it's the remake of the first Dissidia with the addition of the Assist feature, plus more characters and stages and additional stories. So then, last of all, enjoy yourselves in this topic, and share your thoughts, strategies and more. I'll start off. Okay, so, as Warrior of Light I have a good strategy. When I attack with Bitter End or Rune Saber, I do the following: During the Bitter End or Rune Saber attacks I use the Kuja Assist to do additional bravery damage and allow me to follow up with another Bitter End or Rune Saber attack if I wish. When I finish hitting my opponent and cause a wall rush, I summon the Kuja Assist and follow up with Bitter End or Rune Saber. This also applies to other attacks if you have the opportunity to do the wall rush. You can use other Assists, but in my personal opinion, Kuja is the best Assist, and he's a great character to use. Well then my fellow Dissidia fans, enjoy the topic! 2 doom and Kirie reacted to this
Number XV 490 Posted September 26, 2012 Spam with Cloud of Darkness and Feral Chaos and you'll never lose. 2 Kirie and The Transcendent Key reacted to this
The Transcendent Key 12,109 Posted September 26, 2012 That's a good strategy. Another good strategy is to equip most of Prishe's branching bravery attacks with "Five Punch Combo", I believe it's called. It has lots of strikes, and is good for dealing lots of bravery damage. http://kh13.com/forum/public/style_emoticons/default/happy.png 2 doom and Kirie reacted to this
Number XV 490 Posted September 26, 2012 Yeah, when I don't spam, I use Onion Knight's branching attacks (Swordshower, flare, etc). And since he's good at dodging, he's my new best character.
Keyblade Master Xoncron 499 Posted September 26, 2012 I just attack my enemies with HP attacks until they're defeated. (However I need a different strategy for going up against Feral Chaos)
The Transcendent Key 12,109 Posted September 26, 2012 Yeah I agree, Onion Knight is a balanced fighter. I also like to use Gilgamesh. His Zantetsuken and Chocobo Knives and Excalibur swords are very very effective at bashing down lots of chunks of bravery. And he has bravery attacks that are quick and sudden, so it's good for tricking opponents. 2 doom and Kirie reacted to this
CloakedSchemerX 1,011 Posted September 26, 2012 (edited) GOSH-DARN IT you took my character Number XV. So yeah, Onion Knight is my main and best character. I was introduced to him because of our similarities in personality. (Intellectual, young, small, etc.) I mainly use, like what XV said, his branching attacks. I start with a good bravery combo for critical hits (first attack or so i believe the ability is called.) Guiding Strike is the easiest to perform for me at least, but I like to use blade torrent, comet, quake, or flare when my opponent staggers. Onion Knight attacks extremely quick and plentiful making him excellent with critical hits, and is why I use his ex form for bravery rather than the burst. His burst is just for when I end the form. Onion Knights very fast and quick to dodge, he has only one yet major flaw...bravery (defense I should say.) His bravery will deplete extremely quick due to his defense so blocking and dodging is a virtue for him. And finally a quote from him (that goes for myself in real life as well): "Being small has it's advantages." I liked the scene with him and Vaan as Vaan tries to act brotherly but OK is irritated by him. Lastly, yes, I shall join the fanclub of Dissidia Duodecim. And as for me, one of my favorite characters is Cecil because of his split powers of light and darkness. He also relates to me in terms of personality because he is kind, honest, and noble, such as myself. His attacks are very effective, and I like how he changes from Paladin to Dark Knight or vice versa during the Dark Arts or Paladin Arts attacks and I find Shadow Bringer and Paladin Force very effective attacks. Cecil is a favorite of mine because since he's the main character from Final Fantasy 4, which is the First Final Fantasy game I played, it made me happy that I could use him in this game. 2 Kirie and doom reacted to this

CloakedSchemerX 1,011 Posted September 26, 2012 Final Fantasy 4 was great in nearly all terms. Like KH2, it was one of the easiest in the series and had a very cliche moment for a final boss. I REALLY get sick of those moments. Final Fantasy 3 was the game I never got to play the good version of. (DS version SUCKS.) Luckily Square Enix is remaking it on PsP, unless its just Japan. back to the point, Final Fantasy 4 had awesome story and awesome, lovable characters. Have you played the After Years? Its pretty repetitive in terms of story but the last part of the story is wonderful and the gameplay is SO fun.
XIIISwords 1,059 Posted September 26, 2012 Dissidia was my first FF game (with me getting XIII two months later) and I loved it. My favorite characters in Duodecim are Squall, Lightning, Vaan, Yuna, and Onion Knight. Lightning is my favorite, but I play a better Squall. In the first Squall was my go to guy, followed by Onion Knight. And the answer is yes, I played as Squall because of KH.
The Transcendent Key 12,109 Posted September 27, 2012 How come I didn't get a welcome to the fanclub? Ah I'm so sorry about that! Forgive the rudeness! Welcome Master Xoncron to the Dissidia fanclub, and to all those who post on this topic, I say, welcome to the Dissidia fanclub! Now then, let's see, what tip shall I offer today. Oh yes! Okay, so, when you're using Jecht and you're doing his bravery attacks, time them very well and you can chain very effective strings of combos and you can even get HP attacks involved in the whole hack and slash. I've only mastered 3 of those combos, which are the Aerial ones, but the land ones are more harder for me to perform because his punches are too fast on the ground. 1 Kirie reacted to this
M.Aqua 1 Posted September 27, 2012 I like using Lighting shes that only character i like the most .. i just stand there in the middle of the place im in and use the HP attacks the whole time wait for them to die but i will use the bravey attacks once in a while if needed. XIIISwords 1,059 Posted September 27, 2012 How do you guys use assists? I like to make sure my assist relates to my character: WoL w/ Lightning (Story Mode) Firion w/ Tidus (Story Mode) Onion Knight w/ CoD (III) Cecil w/ Kain (IV) Bartz w/ Aerith (Light an Holy) Terra w/ Jecht (Switched sides 012) Cloud w/ Emperor (No relation, but epic combo!) Squall w/ OK (My two Dissidia mains) Zidane w/ Kuja (IX) Tidus w/ Jecht (Father-son bonding) Lightning w/ WoL (Story Mode) Vaan w/ Gilgamesh (Secret Boss XII) Yuna w/ Jecht (X) Tifa w/ Kain (Story Mode) Kain w/ Cloud (IV) Gilgamesh w/ Sephiroth (Secret Bosses) I'm not a big fan of using the others. CloakedSchemerX 1,011 Posted September 27, 2012 ^ I lime to have then somewhat story related. As I use Onion Knight, I pair Terra with him as an assist. Honestly though, when used correctly, the best assists are Aerith, CoD (if your a spammer >_>), Kuja, and Jecht.

Number XV 490 Posted September 28, 2012 My best characters are (in order, not counting spams): Onion Knight, The Emperor, Cloud, Sephiroth, Ultimecia, Kain, Cecil, Squall, and Kuja. The rest are eh.
CloakedSchemerX 1,011 Posted September 28, 2012 My order: Onion Knight, Kain Highwind, Warrior of Light, Sephiroth, Golbez, Lightning, Emperor Mateus, Kefka, Terra, Ultimecia, Cecil, Firion, Gilgamesh, Cloud, Laguna, Zidane, Squall, Yuna, Bartz, Kuja, Shantotto, Tifa, Garland, Gabranth, Cloud of Darkness, Vaan, Tidus, Jecht, Prishe, Exdeath. (If you count Feral Chaos it would be right after Sephiroth.)
The Transcendent Key 12,109 Posted September 29, 2012 I love using Gilgamesh simply for his sheer awesomeness and because of his effective weapons. LOL, plus, when I nail bravery or HP attacks with the Chocobo Daggers, I say: "The chickens have sung!" LOL. But in all seriousness, Gilgamesh is a heck of a character to use. http://kh13.com/forum/public/style_emoticons/default/happy.png

I like to use Gilgimesh as a summon. With Vaan, they're unstoppable. The trick: Trap the opponent in one of Vaan's attacks (Katana's first hit, Crossbow, the first hit of Axe and Shield [not the special one, the one that is weaker] is the best IMO) and then use Gilgamesh. He'll knock the enemy up and down if they're in the air. Get to the ground and use Torrent, which hits vertically and is practically unavoidable if you time it right with Gilgamesh's assist. If you accidentally use Gilgamesh on the ground, aim for the ground and use Torrent anyway, because if they hit a wall it will work too. 1 The Transcendent Key reacted to this

Okay, so when I use Cecil, I like to switch constantly between his two forms, and I do so in a flash. I like using Dark Flame when enemies are above, and when they're dashing towards me I can use Shadow Bringer. I also use his bravery attacks, and when I get to Wall Rush, I summon Kuja and then follow up with Paladin Force. ^^ 1 doom reacted to this

The Transcendent Key 12,109 Posted September 30, 2012 Kain is an epic character to use. Did you know that if you charge his Jump attack, when your high in the air you can cancel the attack to fool your adversaries?
razuthor72 89 Posted October 1, 2012 Kain is an epic character to use. Did you know that if you charge his Jump attack, when your high in the air you can cancel the attack to fool your adversaries? Now I do!My main character is Firion, my best strategy is to hit my opponent into a wall then use Kuja's bravery assist to knock them in the air, use the teleport thing, and then hit them with a well-timed Weaponmaster. Always does at least 2500+ damage. When I don't do that, I do a nice mix of bravery and HP attacks. I always try to keep my enemy on the defensive, unless I want to be a troll and let them attack me so I can do a Shield Bash.
