Enlighten me how they are spin-offs? Re:coded imo is the only game that isn't important.

Chain of Memories was vital to KH2 just as KH3D is vital to KH3. The way I read that was, "IT'S ON A NINTENDO CONSOLE IT ISN'T IMPORTANT". I'm not even raging or anything it's one persons opinion against another's but I just can't see how you can call CoM and KH3D spin-offs? When they clearly aren't as they progressed the story their previous game left off. And the events of CoM aren't hinted at in Kh2 because they don't remember what happened, the Org13 members appear in the journal and that was about it.

Hit and miss on Days though, I think Nomura made that to just feed the Roxas fans but whatever.

1. CoM was not vital to the storyline. All events were 100% unnecessary. Sora gets put in a stasis chamber and that's about it. No conflicts are resolved and the main characters don't even remember what happened nor do anyone else. Cut out Roxas, a character that was only important in the first 30 minutes of KH2 and the game flows perfectly, or as pefect as a KH game can flow.

2. Same thing with DDD. Can't go into it much without spoiling it for people (it did just come out) but essentially Sora gets a few new buddies, old characters make a cameo and once again, nothing is resolved.

Without spoiling anything though how will people randomly know how the stuff at the end of KH3D happened? Like a few things happened in that ending that werer important to the progression of the story. They aren't going to willy-nilly say,

"Oh yeah I remember when Lea got a keyblade!", "Master Xehanort says we need 7 lights to fight his 13 darkness" or how the fact that if you skip KH3D then Riku is randomly a keyblade master and such.

A lot more happened in KH3D than what happened in CoM story-wise so I personally consider it an important title. Feel free to call it a spin-off all you want but KH3D's story had a lot more going for it and people won't know what the hell is going on if they simply forget its existence and label it a spin-off when it is far from it.

This idiot in class told me one time that he doesn't care about BBS, Days, and KH3D, he said he just wanted KH3.

I was like o-o and said," You will be one lost ass bitch. There is some much story that you have missed."

He said,"Like what."

I continue,"Terra, Aqua, Ventus, Master Eraqus, Xion, Keyblade War, Mark of Mastery test."

Him O_O,"Who are they?"

Me: "Exactly why you should play those "side games"

I should have known. He said that they best Final Fantasy was FFX and FFVII sucks and had bad sales. WTH...

All KH games are important to the story.

Having some issues finding the actual interview but I've found some bits and pieces from others:

Nomura: The theme this time was “bold action”, but we also wanted to stress the importance of the story’s tempo. Though the story is important to fans as shown by the results of the survey, it won’t be drawn-out.

That doesn't prove my point, but it shows that the story isn't half-assed, like the DS games and CoM.

k

Do you know what the definition of a "bridge game" is?

It means its IMPORTANT but it leads into something BIGGER.

CoM and DDD fit this definition perfectly.

im not gonna talk about this anymore

comments getting deleted

so its offtopic

sorry

Nomura has made two seperate references about DDD's status. When he first discussed it in the beginning he compared it to being a main game bc it progresses the story and leads into KH3. Then , closer to the release date of DDD he basically said that DDD is important and holds vital plot info for the future BUT it didnt progress the story enough for it to be called a 'main ' game .. Therefore calling it a 'bridge ' game seems to be the most accurate way to describe it.This doesnt take away from its importance though xD

...this thread..... *facepalm*

My thoughts...

Main games:

BBS

KH1

KH2

-games that progress the story significantly

Bridge games:

COM

DDD

-games that progress the story a lot, but not as much as a main game

Midquels:

Days

Coded

-games that fill holes and give clarity

*edit* I just looked at the previous posts and saw that Shana made a list just like this xD

Spin-offs:

*crickets*

I had to

Slightly more on topic... that guy is an idiot. He must really have no life to sit around complaining about a sequel that can't even start development until Versus is finished. Patience people, patience. >_> (articles like that obviously tick me off as well)

Any company that creates more remakes and spinoffs than main games is milking the franchise of said game. I mean seriously, KH has three main games, KH BBS, KH1, and KH2. I don't care what Nomura or any fanboy says, CoM, Days, DDD, and Coded are spinoffs.

The article is telling the truth.

ACTUAL sequels such as CoM and DDD aren't spinoffs you fcking dipshit.

"Spinoff" means when the story has NOTHING to do with the main actual story. Both CoM and DDD progress the real story, HENCE, not a spinoff. Get educated, retard.

I hate it. So much.

Really people? Is that what EVERYONE cares about? Yes, I want KHIII, but I don't like how bloggers and 'fans' who only play numbered titles constantly complain and say we're never going to see KH3. Do they even read the interviews? I'm just so annoyed.

I don't even see any sort of info to confirm that information. KHFM, KHIIFM, and KHBBS are all Kingdom Hearts games and we didn't get that shit. How many other KH stuff has there been that other countries haven't gotten.

I went from wanting to punch this guy in the face to outright wishing Captain Falcon on him. Does he really think that would happen? How could you even properly port DreamDrop to a vita anyway?

This is too much anger that could ever be healthy for a tiny hedgehog like me.

This guy is A DOUCH MUFFIN

I don't object to people whining about KHIII taking a long time, if they agree that the plot points adressed in ALL the games are important, personally I think CoM and Coded could have been turned into cutscenes, and didn't need a full game, but that the plot would be infinitely more confusing (and after the 3Ds time travel situation and all the stages of Xehanort, that's impressive) We'd go from Sora saves the world, to this Roxas person merges with Sora, who apparently has been in n egg for a year, and then fights these people who can't tell Sora and Roxas look nothing alike, and then Sora is friends with Riku again, rescuing all these total strangers, while fighting this old guy who doesn't realize we've got Keyblade wielders all over the place (my interpretation of the events in KH III)

Agreed. And if you remember when Kingdom Hearts II came out, (from what I've heard) everyone was wondering who Roxas is. It is a different experence to play KHII for the first time after playing Days.

People have been asking for and KH HD collection ever since they started making such collections. This is actually an instance of people getting what they want, not the company "milking the series".

And if Square is milking anything, it's Final Fantasy XIII. That game didn't need a sequel, and people didn't really want one, but instead they made TWO. How did that happen?

Spin-offs:

*crickets*

I had to

V-CAST, Mobile, and For PC Browsers.

But... it doesn't have anything to do with the actual story.

No? Last time I checked COM introduced Organization XIII and Castle Oblivion, which became crucial plot points, and DDD had Sora and Riku's Mark of Mastery exam, explained Xehanort's full plan, and made THAT big reveal, you know, the one about the heart, and that has been hinted since the times of KHIIFM, or KH if you count Ansem Report 8:

This may be a step toward creating a heart from nothing

3D also brought the Dreaming Worlds, but we don't know if they will be important again. coded brought the Data-Scape, which is Maleficent's current goal, meaning it'll have some importance in KHIII.

The only real spin-offs in the franchise are those three I mentioned in the beginning of this post.

V-CAST, Mobile, and For PC Browsers.

V-Cast doesn't count. I don't even think SE made that.

I forgot about Mobile. I don't think I would even call that a game.

And the PC one doesn't have a lot of info yet and I think there'll be at least some plot relevance in it.

Anything that is not fan-made counts, even if it's non-canon material. The PC Browser one, I doubt it to be plot relevant.
