How long are X-2 and XII?

Recommended Posts

If you go through X-2 without the sidequests, it's pretty short. Maybe around 15-20 hours. With sidequests... it's long.

As for XII, I couldn't say, but I had quite a few hours invested before I stopped playing.

X-2 is a game about completionism. If you play with a guide and get everything (You WILL need a guide to get everything) it`ll take a fair while. And if you don`t, there isn`t really a point in playing, since you`ll miss most of the content.

XII is MUCH longer, however, even if you just do story stuff.

FF XII is a LONG ASS game. I spent far too much time in that game and didn't even manage to get half-way through. X-2's fairly short, but that's if you go for mandatory story missions only. The side quests are what makes the game so long.

I won't talk about X-2 because people have given you sound enough info on that. Hahaha.

I will say about XII, though, that leveling up is a pain. Most of the monsters will slaughter you, but you have to defeat stronger ones to level up. Also, I don't think you get exp from defeating bosses. And the half way point (like a lot of games) will suddenly become murder. Still, XII is a good game and is a decent length. The license board is pretty cool, and I like the battle system in general. And also, if I remember correctly, most of your party members will be whatever level Vaan is when he meets them. Because of that, it might be worth it to do a little bit of grinding in the beginning so your characters are a bit stronger.

Anyway, I like both games, so you should enjoy them, too. I think I prefer XII, though, because X-2's a little gimmicky and girly, but it's still a good game (even if you have to be married to your strategy guide to get the perfect ending).

And the Leading Man rocks in XII. That is all.

FFXII took me, if I remember right, somewhere 60-80 hours. And I had done the sidequests because I figured I needed the levels for the superbosses anyway. But if you don't give a firetruck about that, then it should take about 30-40 hours to get through the game.

Don't remember much about X-2. I think I stopped playing it at 100+ hours.

FFXII isn't that hard if you bust your ass to get quickenings ASAP. I actually found that it makes the first portion of the game really easy, especially if you;'re good at it. I never really felt I had to grind for levels very much, mostly because I would frequently go farming for loot, which got me plenty of levels without really trying. The first spot where it's easy to chain is the Lusthu mines on skeletons. Bone fragments are nice, and it's easy to get to chain 99. This will get you a bunch of gil, and a decent level boost early in the game.

If you do the trick in Nablina where you break through the barrier to Mosophoren Highland on the chocobo, you get access to amber amulets really early, as well, which give you double the LP from enemies. This is also really nice, especially since you can do it so early in the game.

FFXII has a lot of side quest when in comes to hunts and esper collecting; even more if you want to get all the rare monster hunts from the Phon Coastline. But it's all so much fun. I have two files that have over 150 hours clocked into them, and another one i recently started with 60 on it already. It's a very rewarding game, and a great play if you want my honest opinion. Just remember ONE thing.

...........

This doesn't make me happy....

Christmas appears to be a stretch now.

It's by no means impossible. I beat XII in less than a month, and I didn't play every day, or anything.

Similarly, X-2, with a guide (Remember, use a guide, there's not much point if you don't) shouldn't take too long as you'll be playing fairly efficiently.

If you start now, I'm sure you could get both done by mid November, or earlier if you play more.

As Kirux said, getting Quickenings speeds things up a lot of XII. They're basically the best thing in the game BY FAR. Once you get the hang of them, you'll be beating ridiculously tough enemies in no time.

But yeah, best of luck. Both games are kind of underrated.

You bring up some really good points. Hahaha. Honestly, I had no trouble with XII until the Henne Mines. Suddenly I was so under leveled it was ridiculous, but FF games do that a lot. In fact, part of this video at around 2:35 (that details the half-way part of XIII) is how I feel during the half-way mark of most FF games. LOL.

But, yeah, as long as you take time to level up, and get your Quickenings as soon as possible (which we both seemed to do), you'll be fine! Oh, and paying good attention to the license board, of course, also helps.

Also, I love what you put under the spoiler tag. Hahaha. Your avatar is also equally awesome:)
