actually from what I heard the Sora-Riku-crying scene shows he cares more of him than Kairi, so thus its proven SoRiku is better ¬_¬

i dont like the SoKai thing, like Draco said, it entirely butchers and shit upon the friendship element this game is obsessively showing.

Also about the SoKai thing and you are basing from what you seen...

Yeah SoRiku can say the same thing

LIKE (let me take all the moments that can be a propaganda for the fangirls) KH2, KH3D, KHDAYS, KHBBS, and possibly KH:CoM

just saying

plus theres an "x" button

on a persons sig

if u dont like it

u can click on it

^w^

Yeah, but Sora knew Kairi was okay(even though she wasnt) , thinking she was safe on the islands. However, he had no idea where Riku was, and Riku is his best friend. They're total bros, the only romance indicated in the series is between Sora and Kairi. I don't know how people think Soriku is better.

I love this thread. When it comes to pairing, this is how I see it:

Age- age gaps don't bother me, unless it turns into something blatantly pedophilic and sexual.

Gender- I don't care if it is hetero, homo, or otherwise, as long as it isn't something out of character

"Romance factor"- Pairings don't need to be incredibly lovey-dovey. Seriously. Keep 'em in character. Also, I'm usually against sexual relationship things. Most series I'm into don't need to take things that far (Kingdom Hearts, for example!)

Alternate Universes- AUs are cute and funny for things like webcomics, but if you really want to write a good fanfic, you need to stick to your character's regular universe. Well, you CAN pull off a good AU, but in order to do so it has to break away from the normal cliches and be something that is beneficial to your story's point. I'm sure most people make AUs to pull of a pairing (hell, I'm guilty of doing so) but if that's all it is going to be, it is likely it won't be good.

My biggest problems with pairings, especially in the Kingdom Hearts fandom, is that many people seem to value "love" over friendship. Someone tell me what I'm missing or something, because I don't understand. In a sense, friendship IS love (sort of). Think about it. When you've got true friends, ones that come to your house without even calling in advance, the ones that playfully jab you with insults ("What's up, hoe?" :P [i seriously respond to this]) the ones that listen to you harp on about Homestuck, Kingdom Hearts, and Harry Potter, the ones that embrace your weirdness (or maybe it's just me...?), they're like family to you. I don't know about you guys, but I love my family. Even if you don't, if you ever want to marry someone, you are wanting to become one with their family. But let's back up for a minute.

Just because someone's a friend, family member, or "soulmate" to you doesn't mean that one relationship is not as important as the others. I'm a very shy person, but even I know that you need friends. Well, technically you don't, but you need friends as much as you need a family and a "deeper" form of love. You will not physically die if you a friendless, familyless, and loveless. However, you must realize that valuing one aspect over another leads to imbalance.

That being said, friendship is beautiful. I absolutely love Axel and Roxas as separate characters. By that, I mean that I love each of their personalities, goals, and (though with Axel it is usually unclear) motivations. Their friendship is one of the most beautiful things in the series, in my opinion. Seriously. Also, if you ever have the time, go back and play KH1. For some reason, I get all teary with the Sora-Donald-Goofy trio. It's simple beautiful. You don't have to force anything into place, because it is already there: friendship. I cried to first time I played KH1 when Sora became a heartless. Why? Does anyone remember how Donald ran to him ("Sora! Sora! Come back, Sora!!!) while an instrumental of "Simple and Clean" played in the background? (Okay, when I watched it the 2nd and 3rd time, I realized it wasn't as dramatic as I remember, but everything I just said actually occurs in the video... plus, it is still amazing!) Donald and Sora went from fighting and arguing to the best of friends. I don't understand how friendships like this can be minimized when compared with shipping.

Also, shipping causes fights. I "lightly ship". That means that I ship for fun, not seriousness. I don't even have a desired shipping for this franchise, I think. (None come to mind right now.) Why does it have to be something that causes fights? Can't we all just sit on the clock tower and eat some sea-salt icecream? Who cares how everyone will end up getting paired? It's not like they're going to hate each other for it! If (by some grace of God) Sora x Riku ends up canon, I'm 99% positive Kairi wouldn't hate either of them for it. But please, let's not start fighting here.

I'm sorry about all the blabbing, so I'll end it here. I just needed to get things off of my chest. In short, friendship is wonderful, pairings shouldn't be many just to demote friendships, and shipping shouldn't be something that people fight over. I just wish more people felt this way. :(

I couldn't agree with you guys more. LOL. In response to some of your posts (unfortunately I'm too lazy to quote them all or look up names), here are more of my thoughts on these matters.

1. I hate how you just can't have people being best friends anymore without someone shipping them. I mean, seriously? Like, what about Harry and Ron, and Cory and Shawn, and Ash and Brock (and many many more)? They were all just friends! But today, no one can accept such a thing. It's really annoying. And though I only mentioned guys (mainly because people seem to ship yaoi the most), any sort of friends are being abused this way.

2. Which actually brings me to my next point. No one knows the difference between tension and sexual tension anymore. Honestly. There's a difference between, "I say I hate you, but really I want to marry you," and outright hating someone. It's really very annoying. And it really ticks me off when people pair people like Riku and Xehanort. Like WTF? Jeez!

You know, it's a sad day when I'm sad that TWEWY is part of KH now, just because I'm afraid of how those characters will be mistreated. And they already are being paired with everyone now, too. Grr. Grr! Grr!

I miss what KH is actually supposed to be about! You know, I went on fanfiction the other day, and it is depressing how few Sora, Donald, and Goofy friendship stories there are. I mean, they're the soul of KH, but no one even writes for them? At that point, it's not even KH you're writing for anymore, but your own fantasies. I admit that I write pairing fics, but I always try to make them believable and canon. I don't neglect what KH is, and I don't leave Disney out of it. I wish other people would follow that idea, too.

And I think another thing that bothers me is how people have these children, in a Disney and kid's game, having sex with a million different people. What the hell? That is sick and wrong, and no- Just no!

I, too, am annoyed with how people take things out of context. SoXion is the newest ridiculous pairing. Mainly because people took, "I belong with Sora, and now I'm going back to be with him," as a romantic phrase. Ugh. Ugh. UGH! I can't even-

If people want these kind of things, then they should find stories that actually have them, or write their own novels! Leave KH out of it. With what they're doing... it's not even KH anymore. -sigh-

I agree with this topic completely. I also can't stand when people say that Roxas and Axel or Sora and Riku have intimate relationships, or they're just doing it. For god's sake guys, this game is about FRIENDSHIP, not sex, or anything like that. If they don't get this, they aren't KH fans at all. I'm ok if someones ships Sora and Kairi, or Aqua and Terra, that's fine, but what makes them think that Axel and Roxas are gay just because they're good friends? It's pathetic really.

Yeah. Shippers are just punch of people who wish pedophilism to be legal. AkuRoku is somewhat pure proof of it

Yes, but Neku and Joshua actually had some hints to it (even if it was purely joking and/or only from Joshua's side).

What I was referring to was how people are now pairing ridiculous things, like Neku/Naminé. I mean, the two have never even met (and probably never will...)

I don't think there is any love in Kingdom Hearts. The closest could be SoraxKairi/RoxasxNamine. I truly believe their relationships are brother-sister like or older-brother/younger-brother. The characters are always looking out for one another and making sure the other is safe.

I very much agree with this.

I'm going to bring the webcomic, Homestuck, in this discussion. In Homestuck, there are three kinds of shipping. Red shipping, for romance; black shipping, for pairing two characters who conflict with one another constantly; and pale shipping, for friendSHIPS. The majority of my ships in Kingdom Hearts are pale ships. Because friendship makes me cry. For example, I don't understand the same sex red ships in KH. I honestly don't. Nothing about them since homo to me. Those pairings honestly look like two best friends who care for one another.

Seeing Sora's reactions to Donald and Goofy when they didn't know who he was in the Country of the Musketeers made my heart break. I actually cried.

And Mickey and Riku's friendship? It makes me go tkaknqkfjakjwkfjwje because I get these feels and I want to snuggle them all because friendship is gr8 and just aaahhh <3333

Yay for friendship. Basically anything else I have to say, everyone else has said already so I'd pretty much be repeating them. What I can say is, what attached me to Kingdom Hearts, what made it a tearjerking, emotional experience for me from the very beginning were the friendships.

Except I ship SoKai and you guys can't stop me. /shot

I could care less about romantic pairings in a game that has given no indication whatsoever that any characters actually like each other on that level. Only Sora and Kairi, and Xion and Roxas have had a SOMEWHAT hinted at love. Even then it's cheesy and barely even talked about.

tl;dr: Idgaf about KH pairings.

thank goodness there's a fanclub for this!

I'm not very fond with the shipping in Kingdom Hearts either. In every past title so far has always revolved around FRIENDSHIP and the bonds between hearts. The only time any of the fans gets to see a bit of romance is between Sora and Kairi I believe. Don't get me started on the yaoi. I just simply wish I could look up a Google image of Riku Without him being in a certain position with Sora and the same goes for Axel and Roxas.

They're only friends looking out for each other and that says enough.

I'm in!

I just can't believe how everyone MUST be paired with someone and then there is those mass weddings and most of the pairings don't make sense at all....

Lets go to fanfiction.net, almost all fanfics are around romance stuff.. like really?

Here is example: shipping Xion with Roxas is pretty absurd.. Think about it: The nobody of Sora is with memories of Sora...

Yes I could rant about this whole day, or week

It seems the popularity of this thread has exceeded my quota of 2.5. I'm a happy panda.

Anyway, just to give this thread some attention, take a look at this post I made in another thread.

Sex is the only thing that makes a relationship worthwhile. After all, what's the point of being close if it's not romantic? Sora and Riku should just get it on and Kairi can die in a ditch.

It's completely sarcastic, obviously, but it got two Likes. I can't tell if it was ironic and appreciative of the sarcasm, since the ones who Liked it were, in the thread, complaining about Disney's apparent homophobia and it was the only reason Sora and Riku weren't a couple (they were avid SoRiku fans, obviously). They were firetrucking glad that Kairi didn't get shit during their KH2 reunion.

I'm usually good about detecting when something over the internet is meant to be taken seriously or not, but the fact I legitimately could not tell if this was ironic, says something about this fandom.
