Favorite Voice Actors

Just curious. I've been thinking about these kinds of things considering the time I've put into my local anime club. (YES, I have an anime club at my school.)

 

I've also noticed no one has already made a thread paticulary like this anyway, so what the hay?

 

So, let's chat. Here's my favorite voice actors in no particular order.

• Yurie Lowenthal: I can never get enough of this guy. Sure, he's most notable for playing an whiny emo....but I still like it. After all, there was a time when that paticular emo was enjoyable. And let's not forget his work as a blue haired, small, frail little youngster who grew up to be a mega badass. Also, I really, really, REALLY.....want him to do work for a DragonBall project. THINK ABOUT IT! Wouldn't it be super-special awesome for him to play a cocky, 20 something Sayian and be all "Goku....you're the one I want to fight the most!" But....that's just me. BUT, BUT, BUT, Namco Bandai...listen to me, if you even have the IDEA of an Ultimate Tenkaichi 2, get Yuri mothertrucking Lothenthal on the phone and tell him you want him to voice lines for a Hero Mode voice. I don't care if the gameplay is the same OR if there's less characters.....I will but the HELL out of that game.....I am not bullshiting you.
• Vic Minogna: (Note: If you're hanging with me this far....there's no way it'll get worse for you. ) Anyways....KAKAROT! Nuff said. Actually, there's more to said, like this man's ability to play a hulking, green haired monster of a Saiyan (as I proved) OR an ego stroking, half man, half metal blondie (no hate intended, I actually like this character alot)....which is ironic because that's how Vic is in real life. lol. except for the half man, half metal part. And MAN, can this guy SING! I think its a rarity where you can be able to both VA and sing well, too...He defiantly got me with Bit and Bit....and then when he did Dragon Soul...ojh sweet balls of fire! Plus, don't get me started on the openings from the show(s) starring that blonde kid I mentioned earlier....anyways, FUN FACT: right now, he's working on an english dub for a new Legend of Zelda anime. (And no, this isn't a contination of that crappy one from the 90s...it's gonna be better. WAY better. Trust me.)
• James Douglas: I love this man because of four characters: 1) A calm, cool, and badass sounding Saiyan in UT's Hero Mode (if you know what I mean), 2) A giant, purple, alien who doesn't know what a Goku is (lol), 3) A guitar shredding Buddist gone mad. ("DEATH IS ROCK AND ROLL!") That never gets old... , and 4) A beat up and thrashed robot "God of Dead" that can STILL kick my ass...("Casshern! You are my nemesis! You are my enemy!") That never gets old, either.
• Christopher Sabat: The man who can be ANYONE. Whether it be THE PRINCE OF ALL SAIYANS....a green dang-a-lang man....an red alien with an Australian accent....a blue alien with a French accent....a worthless bandit with a fetish for wolves (ooh...put that in your pipe and smoke it. ).....the list goes on, and that's just ONE anime I referenced to. ONE. This man.....is a team player. No doubt in my mind.
• Colleen Clinkenbeard: Ah....sweet, sweet Colleen. Butter to my ears. THANK THE FRICKIN LORD....that she was given the HONOR of being the new English VA for a boy who used to sound like he chain-smoked. Now, he actually sounds like a little boy, and later on....a pre-teen boy. THAT'S how you do it, people. (You know who I'm talking about....those mutha flippin fans with the nostalgia glasses glued to their heads....ugh....hold on, let get off my high horse now...) ANYWAYS, Clinkenbeard also did another character for that series...didn't really need to be changed, unlike the last one I was talking about, but I like it nonetheless. Plus, she's also known to play both very attractive yet very SCARY women....these include a G-cup warden who will cut you in half for anything you do (nightmares.... http://kh13.com/forum/public/style_emoticons/default/smiley-confuse.png )....a gun-toting soilder who'd whip my ass in a mili-second.....and an armored-clad mage who I recommend you NOT mess with....or any of the women I've descibed. Serously, just try it. I TRIPLE dog dare you...

Johnny Yong Bosch: I first saw him in the first action-oriented television show that I was ever a fan of. That's right, Mighty firetrucking Power Rangers! He was the black power-ranger, the second actor to be exact. However, I first heard him play Nero from Devil May Cry 4 and I loved every second of it. Honestly, I never cared for Dante so bringing Nero in was what got me to actually beat a DMC game. lol But, then I heard Johnny play many other roles like Ichigo Kurosaki(Bleach), Sasori(Naruto), Izaya Orihara(Durarara!!), Itsuki Koizumi(Haruhi Suzumiya), etc. and I again loved the voices that he provided for each of these roles. Even if he doesn't change his voice much. My favorite role is probably Izaya.

 

Crispin Freeman: This guy right here. I am one hundred percent heterosexual, but I mean this when I say this man has a dead sexy voice. I first heard him as Albedo from Xenosaga and his voice gave me firetrucking chills. I later heard him play Itachi Uchiha(Naruto), Shizuo Heiwajima(Durarara!!), Kyon(Haruhi Suzumiya), etc. My favorite role is probably Shizuo.

 

Laura Bailey: This girl is amazing. She's beautiful, funny, and highly talented. I first heard her as Trunks(Dragon Ball Z), but didn't realize it at the time. The first time I probably started recognizing her was probably either Keiko Yukimura from Yu Yu Hakusho or Shin from Shin-Chan. Some of her other roles that I like are Maka Albarn(Soul Eater), Lust(FullMetal Alchemist), Anko Mitarashi(Naruto), Tia Harribel(Bleach), etc. My favorite role is probably Maka.

 

Chuck Huber: Omfg this guy has a great voice. I loved him as Hiei from Yu Yu Hakusho and later heard him as Emperor Pilaf(DragonBall) and Android 17(DBZ), Dr. Stein(Soul Eater), Hiro Nohara(Shin-Chan), etc. My favorite is a tough one between Hiei and Stein. But, if I had to choose I would pick Hiei. Sorry, but the classic wins!

 

and shit I forgot Troy Baker

 

Troy Baker: This guy has that heroic bad-ass kind of accent. If you could call that an accent. lol Anyway, I first heard him as Snow in FF13 and despite a lot of people not liking Snow, I loved him. Later I heard him as Excalibur(Soul Eater), Vincent(Catherine), Pain(Naruto), and soon I will be able to enjoy his performance as Joel(The Last of Us) I CAN'T WAIT!!! My favorite is probably Vincent.

 

AND I FORGOT firetruckING NOLAN NORTH!!! HOW THE firetruck DID I DO THAT?!?!

 

Nolan North: Anyway, I first heard this amazing man as Desmond Miles(Assassins Creed). I later heard him as Nathan Drake(Uncharted), Tobi(Naruto), The Penguin and Black Mask(Batman: Arkham City), Deadpool(Deadpool), and yes he was the defective turrets in Portal 2. Give it up for one of the greatest men in video game voice acting! My favorite is probably Nathan Drake.

 

This is never gonna end...

 

Steve Blum: This badass with the gritty voice is just amazing. There's no arguing that and if you do... I don't care, he's still firetrucking amazing. I first heard him as TOM(Toonami) and Zabuza Momochi(Naruto) and his character was the reason that I cried for the first time over an anime. No shame. Then I heard him as Orochimaru(Naruto) and let me tell you he is one creepy motherfiretrucker. Later I heard him as Jamie(Megas XLR), Amon(The Legend of Korra), Kyohei Kadota(Durarara!!), etc. My favorite is probably Amon.

Troy Baker is wonderful He was Van Kleiss in Generator Rex, November 11 in Darker Than Black, Vincent in Cathrine, and a lot more.

Johnny Yong Bosch has been one of my favorite voice actors since I got into anime. First role I heard him in was Lelouch from Code Geass.

 

My favorite japanese voice actors are Akira Ishida (Zexion/Ienzo) and Yuichi Nakamura (Ikuto from Shugo Chara)

I rather like Kirk Thorton. Mostly for his performance as Jade in Tales of the Abyss, in which he did amazingly. Otherwise, Paul St. Peter as Xemnas is great, I really love that deep voice, that despite being completely monotone, almost has a hint of melancholy. I also really liked Steve Blum as Amon in Legend of Korra.

 

I'm actually surprised to see a couple names I know of here, outside of KH. Especially since I don't watch anime.

 

EDIT:

Oh yeah, I like Michelle Ruff's performance as Rita Mordio (points at sig) as well. She was very believable, and her sarcasm was great.

• J. Michael Tatum: I'm not gonna lie....if I swung the way Tatum did....I might get with him. But before I piss off his boyfriend, let's count the reasons this man is BEASTLY http://kh13.com/forum/public/style_emoticons/default/happy.png .....a green alien with a "monster" of a power level. Check. A demon butler with a thing for cats. Check. A minor character that served as a green-clad Spirt Detective's sparring partner for a while (Small part, but still, that show was awesome. Gotta rewatch it...). Check. A very muscly man and a former Dark Mage, who happens to have a soft side. (Aww.... :wub: ) Check...I think I'm outta characters. Oh well. J-Mike, Call me.
• Kevin Conroy: Okay, go ahead and start an argument with me, but I will stand by this opinion: this man....is the BEST FRICKIN DUDE EVER....to play a man dressed like a bat. I will not frickin take back what I say.
• Mark Hamill: Related to the above VA, this man is also AMAZA for being the BEST FRICKIN DUDE EVER....to play an insane clown. I'LL TAKE THAT TO THE GRAVE.

I just found out....that this man.....is the ice cold scientist that I love (to hate)....AND the mysterious ninja with a thing for bugs....AND....several weird looking monsters who have all fought a team of colorful and flamboyany teenagers in their days.....DSP.....you are awesome.
