Key2Oblivion 37 Posted August 26, 2012 (edited) Hey everyone. In Birth By Sleep, as everyone knows, there was Ven, Aqua, and Terra. They were all "linked"(for lack of a better term) to Sora, Kairi, and Riku respectively. In Ven the similarities to Sora have always been there, but for Terra the main connection to Riku was the whole giving into the dark thing. But, now, Riku is learning Terra's moves? I mean I'm playing through on critical now and just noticing certain things, I missed A LOT of commands first time through, and I noticed Riku can now use Meteor and Meteor Crash, which were Terra specific in BBS. Also some things like Sacrifice and limit storm, but I just attribute that to the whole darkness thing, so maybe those will become more generic moves in future games. I believe Riku's new "dark slide"(his dodge roll can't think of name) is something Terra could do in his dark drive, right? Anyway, I know this might not be relevant to anything, but it's something I noticed so I'm just wondering if anyone else has noticed this. I would talk to some IRL friends about it, but they haven't beaten the game yet and don't want me to ruin anything. EDIT: now that I think about it "linked" might not be the best way to put it. What I was trying to say was that Ven was the Sora of BBS, Aqua was the Kairi, and Terra was the Riku, hopefully that cears it up for anyone who was unsure. KeybladeWielder_ 161 Posted August 26, 2012 (edited) You're deffinatly right. But Riku is learning how to manipulate and resist the darkness. Whereas the last we saw of Terra he had succumbed to the Darkness. So I don't think that they are becoming more alike. But I think when they rescue Terra, Riku will help him learn how to control and rid himself of the darkness Edited August 26, 2012 by KeybladeWielder_
Kirux 1,224 Posted August 26, 2012 It makes sense seeing as Terra picked Riku as a successor because he saw a bit of himself in Riku. I always thought they acted somewhat similar, too. Kind of distance and cool with their emotions, but capable of feeling deeply for those they do care about.
hatok 6,413 Posted August 26, 2012 Meteor is generally a black magic from Final Fantasy, so I think darkness still works as an excuse.
Ven983 490 Posted August 26, 2012 I personally see him becoming more like Aqua. His movements were very acrobatic like Aquas. He also acted more maturely in this game and was very considerate of other which is what Aqua is like. he obviously has more traits that relate to Terra, but I feel that Riku and Aqua are going to have some sort of connection that is unexpected. 4 darkchaser, Jaguar113, pastelxdreams and 1 other reacted to this
Jaguar113 13 Posted August 26, 2012 I really hope that when they save Terra Riku will show him how to resists the darkness. I noticed the similarities with Riku and Terra's moves it was just amazing the connection that Ven, Terra, and Aqua have with Sora, Riku, and Kairi. I also noticed the same moves with ventus, and sora. Hopefully it will be the same with Aqua, and Kairi because i really enjoyed playing as her with her battle style so if we dont get to play as Aqua again at least we could have the chance to play as Kairi and her similar battle style with Aqua. Ultima Spark 753 Posted August 26, 2012 (edited) Meteor is generally a black magic from Final Fantasy, so I think darkness still works as an excuse. Funny how it's holy-elemental in the one game where it actually has an element attached >_> Edited August 26, 2012 by Ultima Spark

Ultima Spark 753 Posted August 26, 2012 (edited) I know that, I just found it amusing. Edited August 26, 2012 by Ultima Spark
Robbie the Wise 5,050 Posted August 26, 2012 (edited) Meh I disagree in fact Riku's new combat style seems to parody aqua's combat style it's almost exactly alike. Riku is a lot more lighter and agile then Terra so it makes sense for him to use a more manueverable and fast paced fighting style. Whereas Terra's style highlighted his brute strength making use of strong deliberate strikes and high impact magic attacks. Rayne the Relentless 14 Posted August 26, 2012 I looked at Riku's moveset in KH: CoM the other day and it seems as though Riku already knew most of his moveset in from then. They don't go by the same name but if you look at the description they're the same as moves he has in 3D. I was confused as to why Riku learned a double jump ability but it seems like it was something he had in CoM.
Caity 3,946 Posted August 26, 2012 I actually thought Riku was becoming more like Aqua (which made me WTF when I remembered that it was Terra who did the wee ceremony with him so his powers should be passed down) cause Riku can double jump like aqua and has a similar protective barrier (just a dark version cause he's mastering the darkness he controls).
