Final Fantasy XIII Teaser Site Revealed

Recommended Posts

A website has been launched teasing the announcement of something Final Fantasy XIII related on September 1st.

http://finalfantasy13game.com/astormgathers/

It's pretty simple, just a bunch of clouds with the phrase "A Storm Gathers" in the middle, and a bunch of stuff talking about how the team is ready to announce something on September 1st.

Alright, despite my neverending desire to see Versus before anything else, I'm willing to say that I did not hate FFXIII as much as everyone else did, and I actually enjoyed XIII-2 a lot, since it was definitely a vast improvement over the original game. Whether this turns out to be FFXIII-3, which seems likely given the incredibly open ending of XIII-2, I don't know, but let's hope Square knows what they're doing.

Well cool to see that it is coming, since the FF XIII-2's ending just.. sucked.

I wish that this would end lightning saga and they would start to move on with serie, although the XIII and -2 weren't bad games. They just had problems

Please just let FFXIII die. XIII was okay. Not the best FF game, but it wasn't terrible. No body asked for a sequel. They made XIII-2. I haven't played it myself, but I heard that it's better than XIII. Gameplay wide at least, with a terrible ending to the story. It also hardly sold any copies. So why would they even think about making a third entry in a series that is selling less and less? Fix up XIII-2's ending with DLC, not a whole other game. Heck, I'd rather a FF X-3 than XIII-3.

Just stop with the XIII sequels and work on more important games that people actually want, like Versus, FFXV and KH3.

I don´t know.... too many parts for only one episode of the franchise... seriously... -.-. I want not a good game, A really awesome game! story, gameplay, even the characters .... but, i don´t know... the story i feeled so "little and flauless" somehow... anyway let´s see waht we get this time....

As long as this doesn't delay Versus in any way.......Oh wait.

Really? why would SE do that? (Sarcartic laugh please ¬¬)

I read in an interview that they had soo much data left over from 13 that they decided to turn it into 13-2 (I think it was released within a year...) For some reason, 13 is their big project, and Type Zero was even supposed to be a 13 story. I haven't played 13, but I think Square already lost it's magic after 10...As for a remake for 7 and another sequel to 10, Square gave their old vague answers in the X-2 Ultimania:

--"In that case, it's [FF7 HD trailer] not a remake; when might you be making something to

serve as the direct continuation of FFX-2?"

Kitase

"Producing something like that holds the same problem as a remake [of FFVII],

as our schedule just isn't open for it [right now]."

I hate it when people bash on a game they've never played. XIII and XIII-2 were amazing games and I'm excited for the sequel. Sure, the ending of XIII-2 sucked and they could have stopped the XIII line there with a better ending and moved on, but they didn't. I for one am looking forward to seeing what happens to Lightning, Snow, Hope, Noel, Serah, Sazh, Dajh, and Vanille. Oh, and Chocolina.

The only flaw a sequel would have is if they limit the main cast like XIII-2 did. I want Hope and Lightning playable, as well as more than just two characters.

WHY does it suck? I'm literally asking a question here. Nobody EVER says why it's bad. i have a hard time respecting opinions without backing.

To me, XIII-2 had a great ending. Or at least, a ridiculously ballsy one. I mean, how often does a game end with the villain successfully destroying time, and the main protagonist dying when they thought they were in the clear? As the GOOD ending, for that matter!

I for one loved that it bucked the trend. I loved how the ending seemed like it'd be nothing but sunshine and J-pop... then everything goes to hell. That's a great sequel hook in my opinion

So you haven't played a game, but are willing to condemn its sequel? XIII-2 was so much of an improvement that it actually felt a lot like a classic Final Fantasy to me. And I like how you imply the ending was unintentional. This was obviously planned, and 'fixing' it with DLC would be terrible PR.

And I mean SERIOUSLY. You call the first game in a franchise decent, then without playing the second game, call it terrible, condemn the sequelm and say you'd prefer a sequel to a game that (Judging by context) you think is terrible.

It's all a matter of context. Since I'm sure this game will still be dealing with time travel... I honestly want a Chrono Trigger approach, where you gather party members from across time...

i dislike the Final fantasy serie, but the Lighting arc; saga(?) is actually good http://kh13.com/forum/public/style_emoticons/default/cool.png

I mostly looking foward to Versus XIII

I only disliked the ending because it left so many unanswered questions. If they ended the XIII series there I'd be pissed, but since a sequel should be in the works I'm happy. I also liked Serah more than any other XIII-2 cast member (sans Hope), so I was upset at her death, although I did predict it.

ur

Time Traveling and getting allies would be cool, but I'm not so sure about it. At Pulse's current state, hasn't time ended and the world basically been made into a place where time cannot exist? I'd like a sequel where you take control of a character and you have to slowly travel the ruined world saving your friends from paradoxes and darkness. Basically like what KH3 might be like.

But don't you see? Being upset over the death of a fictional character is GOOD storytelling.

And, what I'm currently imagining is that all of time exists in one place, and as such all time periods exist at once place.

But I'm basing this more on how Square Enix is likely to structure the game than anything else...

I have played XIII, not all of it, but a good chunk of it, and I've watched all the cutscenes. I'm not that big a fan of the gameplay, but I did enjoy the story. I didn't condemn XIII-2, I heard that the gameplay was much improved from XIII, and I simply heard that the ending wasn't very good.

And no, I didn't say I'd prefer a sequel to a game I think is terrible. I really would rather a X-3. X is my favourite final fantasy game, and although X-2 was definitely not as good as X, I'd still love more of Tidus and Yuna's story.

Well I really didn't bother on making really long post just to explain why I didn't like it.

It was just so big let down. I spent so much time on saving everything and it was perfect place to end story, but no! They had to make boring excuse for sequel..

Also, the ending would have been better if that song would have stopped when Serah died and I'm all good with that "evil" ending, but why must they make it so that the story will continue and now I have to play one game more just to get same ending as in FF XIII-2 without anyone dying or anything bad happening..

It's just my opnion though.

what I'm about to say is less directed at you and more of an overall statement.

Why do people hate sequel hooks in videogames so much? I mean SO MANY people are so AFFRONTED by being FORCED to play another game to continue the story. The thing I don't get is that movies and books get away with this all the time. Nobody ever said the sixth Harry Potter book shouldn't have had a sequel, and instead just had a downloadable e-book that has the content the book SHOULD have had from the start instead of FORCING people to buy a whole new one.

Yet a game can offer a lot more in a sequel than most other media. Unlike most things, a game can have a mediocre story in a sequel, but still be worthwhile for the gameplay, and vice versa.

I mean seriously, videogames almost never get planned sequels because so many people will just irrationally hate it. Why are videogames treated like this when they have so many facets to draw redeeming qualities from?

(Oh, and as for the ending music, I though it represented how, while Serah died, it seemed everything else was going to be okay, so it was sad buy hopeful. The music stops when EVERYTHING goes wrong)

The part about the death, so true. It's like Harry Potter all over again. I hate Rowling for killing off

Fred

, but I'd give all of my heart to her anyway.

Yeah, that is a good idea. Come on SE, don't disappoint!

Well you are right, people never complain about movie/book sequels, like all Resindent Evil movies end with that stupid cliffhanger what it barely lame excuse for other sequel.

And you are right, game sequels can be good via gameplay and other stuff. Most of games these days have really boring and useless story and I play them for fun gameplay. But games what I really like to look on story and focus on it like Final Fantasys: It just feels wrong that they continue their game with cliffhanger like XIII-2s ending.
