XIIISwords 1,059 Posted August 17, 2012 Don't get me wrong, the balloon line of spells are awesome (if not broken to some extent), but they don't fit. There's fire magic, ice magic, thunder magic, and even the new light magic (Spark). But Balloon Magic? No? It's a Water spell? Since when was water an real element in KH? And how is "Balloon" a fitting name for Water magic? I think Balloon probably got mistranslated. I think it probably should have been "Bubble" and then it would have made more sense. Opinions? hatok 6,413 Posted August 17, 2012 They look like balloons to me, and fits the KH tone more And water has been an off and on element in Final Fantasy, and it looks like it'll be the same in KH 1 KeybladeWielder_ reacted to this
blinxhero 91 Posted August 17, 2012 Its water magic? Cool, i guess.
Caity 3,946 Posted August 17, 2012 (edited) I would agree if there was a mistranslation, the balloon spells are similar to bubbles. However, I think it fits the game o.o In the (fourth district I think) where Flick Rush is, it kinda reminds me of a sort of carnival, the moogle in the stand looks like a sort of game and then the area and colour scheme makes me think of a carnival as well. Like, there was a set up festival there that was then moved. There's also the festival/theme park in Pleasure Island as well, and balloons would fit these areas in my mind. Apart from blizzard magic what other water powers are there? EDIT: Just realized, the balloons could be water balloons o:? LunarMadness 79 Posted August 17, 2012 Balloon is awesome. In every sense. Nuff said. 1 Zanzetsuken reacted to this
AnsemTheWise 1,114 Posted August 17, 2012 I wasn't really big on the Balloon spells. I think I actually would've liked them better if they did Bubble instead. They brought Aero in as a real elemental spell with Days, and they finally did light and darkness in DDD. It's about time we get a proper water spell going. (And it had better not do firetrucking blizzard damage. Lookin' at you, Demyx...) 1 Kirux reacted to this
Aqua7KH 5,395 Posted August 18, 2012 Balloon is the KH3D version of Mine Shield, Mine Square, and Seeker Mine. I love the spell so much and it deals great damage to enemies. I think the name fits considering it does look like balloons to me, and it fits the more 'dream' atmosphere than bubbles. If the spell was called Bubbles I would think of a firetrucking pokemon or Powerpuff Girl. 1 Skai reacted to this
Isamu Kuno 2,512 Posted August 18, 2012 (edited) Q: Since when its water a real element in Kingdom Hearts A: Since Days Q: How is "Balloon" a fitting name for Water magic A: Water Ballloons Anyway this and the Spark family of spells were obtained in the dream worlds so they probably won't carry over into the waking worlds. I'm guessing this is how Nomura is going to justify Sora starting out at LV.1 again in KH3. Oh and Caity Raindrop, Blizzard does Ice damage. Not Water damage. But I'll be damned if I know what the difference is. Edited August 19, 2012 by Sora_Kuno 1 hatok reacted to this
Master of Keybladers 5 Posted August 18, 2012 I never thought balloons as a water magic I thought it was some explosive magic
OthersiderME 614 Posted August 18, 2012 It counts as Water damage. Which for some reason Lightning-based Nightmares are slightly weak to. I can understand Fire being weak to Water, but Lightning?
XIIISwords 1,059 Posted August 18, 2012 It counts as Water damage. Which for some reason Lightning-based Nightmares are slightly weak to. I can understand Fire being weak to Water, but Lightning? Water and Lightning being opposites and Fire and Ice are a reference to FF. In XIII it's the same combo.
OthersiderME 614 Posted August 18, 2012 If you look at the weaknesses of Lightning spirits, all of them are highly weak to Ice and slightly weak to Water. I suppose they needed balance in the game, but I don't like their elemental triangle. Same goes for Grass on Water in Pokemon.
Jim 2,990 Posted August 18, 2012 I don't think "Bubble" would be as good. Mostly because "Bubblega" sounds a little too much like "Bubble Gum" 1 Ven_Kagamine reacted to this

Kirux 1,224 Posted August 19, 2012 I remember really like balloon in the demo, but in the actual game I wasn't a fan of it. Balloon is the KH3D version of Mine Shield, Mine Square, and Seeker Mine. I didn't realise that until you posted that, I loved those spells in BBS. 1 Aqua7KH reacted to this

KeybladeWielder_ 161 Posted August 19, 2012 I love it. So useful in the final and secret bosses. I have to say I wouldn't mind some Water and Wateraga spells in the future. Good spells in Final Fantasy XIII
