zexion/ienzo 52 Posted August 14, 2012 {We're back in business, baby!} Demyx had to admit, that every once in a while, it got lonely in the Organization. In the castle, it seemed there was just nothing to slate anyone's unrelenting boredom. The occasional nights in Luxord's room spent playing poker with Xigbar and the ever-present Axel were fun - but one could only have so much fun (inevitably) losing before Saïx inturrupted and then breathed down all of their necks, seething at their late night endeavors. Usually, it was out of routine that the four assumed Xaldin had ratted them out (the man was always secretly jealous that he hadn't been invited to play - or so Xigbar claimed). Then, there was the time spent alone in the early morning in the Round Room, where Demyx would find himself content in plucking mindless tunes on his sitar. However, even that didn't tend to last long, what with the other members either filtering in to collect their missions for the day (including him whenever Saïx was feeling especially spiteful) or, in other times, when Larxene came around, complaining about being kept up from his horrid playing. Either way, it was always the same story. There was nothing interesting to do or see, and any gossip spread around in whispers from the Dusks or the other more mischievous members had been heard already. Axel was always with Roxas, Xigbar with Luxord and the ever so curious Xion, and it truthfully seemed that no one enjoyed his company. Not that Demyx minded much. He supposed as a Nobody, it was expected he wouldn't really feel anything. With a heart though, he might have felt hurt. Even today, sitting tired after a hard day of recon in the Round Room, was no different. Saïx was brooding in the front of the room as he stared to the outside and there was only a frazzled Vexen contemplated who-knows-what in the chair on the opposie side of the room. The only one, Demyx realized, to be of remote interest, was the smaller of the Nobodies present, sitting with his legs crossed and a thick book propped open on his lap. Zexion. The very same person who, in seeing Demyx return, glared at his sitar as if daring him to play while he read. Demyx shivered at the thought of the other's hardened colbat eyes. He really wanted to play (sitting around, twiddling his thumbs wasn't exactly 'fun').
Miku Hatsune 636 Posted August 14, 2012 (Undoubtedly.) Zexion never found anything to be lonely. In fact, loneliness was something no one in the Organization should ever be obligated to feel. In his opinion, anyways. What was loneliness without someone to feel lonely for? Being in the Organization, there was no 'we.' There was no 'us.' It was just either a 'you' or a 'me.' Separating pronouns in that situation may have been symbolic to how one couldn't be ever 'together.' Not teammates, friends, nor acquaintances. Nothing could ever change the fact that someone without a heart could never feel a sense of companionship. It's partly the reason why he preferred to be alone at all times. Interacting with others was unnecessary, so why bother to try? Seeing the others be with each other and respond so viscerally was like watching someone do open-heart surgery. He had no concept of why someone could do something so pointless. Aside, missions were basically the only interaction he had with other people - and even then, they were scarce. As long as he got the job done, nothing else mattered. The many disadvantages of lacking a heart.
zexion/ienzo 52 Posted August 14, 2012 {Oh God, the angst.} The silence was deafening. Quite literally. It was no surprise that typically, Demyx was associated with noise. Music, chatter, even awkward, loud laughter when the conversation in the Briefing Room died down entirely. He couldn't help it, in a way he needed distractions to survive. Well, maybe not literally or as drastically, but it certainly felt like it. The lack of the noise in the Round Room was leaving a dull buzzing in his ears and as a result, a headache. And while Demyx thought would be perfectly acceptable to have one when it came to laughing too hard and loud, or from straineous siar rehearsals (when the time pesented itself). But getting it from being too quiet? That was unnacceptable. Headaches were meant to symbolize having too much fun and driving yourself to physical pain from rocking out a little too hard. And essentially, Demyx realized what he would have to do. Groaning, the blond Nobody glanced down at his body. A few scratches and dirt stains adorned the sleeves of uniform, along with the unpleasant sand between his toes. Even though Demyx was well aware that Roxas had done recon in Agrabah a week ago, he was ordered to do the same. Probably due to the fact that no one had anything for him to do and still, didn't want him lounging around the castle and being an annoyance. But even now, a bit of sand wasn't enough of a reason for him to stay here of all places. "Saïx," Demyx started, standing up and leaning on his sitar as he balanced it besides him. Thankfully his precious baby hadn't been inflicted any damage on his prior mission. "Hey, Saïx." From his position in front of the window, the Nobody in question closed his eyes and inhaled deeply to soothe the cresting annoyance drawn up by the voice of Number Nine within the Organization. Demyx, was almost as usual and annoying as that trash, Xion. And still, he was forced to put up with the both of them. Exhaling hollowly, Saïx turned slowly to the blond, eyeing how he seemed surprisingly awake. The blue haired individual thought for sure that he would have been in a deep slumber by now. "Yes, Number Nine?" "Can I have another mission?"
Miku Hatsune 636 Posted August 14, 2012 (edited) That.... Just.... What. What. Zexion nearly dropped his Lexicon at the sound of it. Did he... Did he hear that right? Out of all the things he wouldn't expect Number Nine to say, it was definitely that. Another mission...? Hell, Demyx could hardly even finish ONE mission, what makes him think that he could complete another? Demyx was notorious for being virtually useless on missions, useless around the castle, and pretty much useless in general. The guy must have been either really desperate, or really damn bored. Or possibly a mixture of both. Meanwhile, the rest of the castle seemed just as surprised, if not more so, as Zexion himself. He could faintly hear glass shattering elsewhere, as if someone had dropped something out of shock. The room, though not exactly bustling, halted to a stop. It was as if time itself had halted in Demyx's favor. The silence was heavy... Waiting for something to happen made him annoyed... Even Saix seemed stunned by the question, his gold eyes wide. zexion/ienzo 52 Posted August 14, 2012 Saïx couldn't quite comprehend the words spoken so casually to him from across the Round Room. Though simple in context, it was the fact that Demyx himself had spoken them that made it more impactful. He was sure that, had the Superior heard what Demyx had said, he would have halted raising his arms up to the sky, awaiting for Kingdom Hearts' appearance out of confusion. Out of the corner of his eyes, Saïx could see that even Number Six was startled by the sudden request coming from the loud-mouth and notoriously known to be lazy blond. "Come again?" Saïx questioned, visibly baffled to what words had fallen out of Demyx's mouth. Demyx on the other hand, couldn't fathom why any of them were so shell-shocked. All he asked for was another mission. Hell, he had seen Axel and the other members do the exact same thing in a far less casual manner numerous times! So what was the big deal? Sure, he usually preferred horsng around. Didn't mean he wasn't closed off entirely to putting forth effort! It was just that...most of the time he wanted to have fun and try and lighten up the aura around the place. "Uh...I'd like another mission. Please?" Demyx repeated awkwardly, switching the weight between either foot he stood on. Saïx gave what anyone could pressume to be the closest look of concern he could manage. "Number Nine are you ill?" The blond felt his brow furrow slightly at the question. Was Saïx actually resisting to him asking for another mission? When did this guy not ever throw out one on request when he was given the chance? "...No? Maybe a bit dirty from rolling in the sand in Agrabah to avoid those nasty Purebloods, but I don't think I'm sick." Demyx raised an eyebrow. "Are you sick?" It took Saïx a maximum of three seconds to snap out of his shock and clear his throat, looking about oddly. He honestly wasn't prepared for this. He supposed Demyx could handle a Rank D recon he was saving for another day.... "Nevermind that. You'll do another recon mission and look around a new world. Atlantica, you should like it - our Dusks report that it's underwater. Be careful for any unknown Heartless." The male found himself a bit hesitant as he crossed the room to Demyx, handing him the mission file. Was this really a good idea? He might have hit his head or...or something. And Heaven knows their numbers didn't need being cut.
Miku Hatsune 636 Posted August 14, 2012 Zexion nearly rolled his eyes at that. Of all the things that he could assign Demyx to do, it'd be to explore a new world? That seemed... really unexpected. Saix obviously didn't know what the hell he was getting into. Why not send someone reliable like Xaldin or Luxord to go? Surely they'd be a lot better than Demyx. Atlantica... By the sounds of things, it must be some kind of aquatic world. That would probably explain sending him there; just to give him something to do and hopefully shut him up for a while. Hell, maybe he could make a hobby out of going there and actually manage to defeat some Heartless while he's at it. On second thought, this recon idea might not be so bad after all. For now, he shouldn't interfere with the notion.
zexion/ienzo 52 Posted August 15, 2012 {Sorry about the delay - my DSi apparently can load everything except the reply text box at the bottom of the page. And I fell asleep before my dad did, sorry.} Atlantica? The name itself sounded like it would be his type of world. He liked the way it sounded, how the 't's sort of rolled of the tongue no problem. Though he didn't really understand what Saïx meant by underwater, he supposed there was really only one way to find out. If anything, he was definitely going to get wet. Andwho was Demyx to ever say no to such a thing? He may love music, but he was an even bigger fan of the water he could so easily manipulate (when he actually felt inclined to put effort in) with a few plucked strings of his sitar. Not that any of the members knew he could do that. On the basic partner missions, Demyx only ever strummed a few useless tunes to send sound waves to attack the target. Fat load of good that ever did. "Thanks, Saïx," Demyx winked, saluting the blue haired Nobody with the file, hoping none of the papers explaining the world in more detail didn't fling everywhere. "I'll do my best!" With that, Demux conmured one of the dark portals to the left of him, giving a bit of a goofy wave at Zexion before he left. Though already knew the closest he'd get to being seen off was a scowl. Now, when he appeared in this new world through the dark portal, their where somethings Demyx hadn't really been expecting. Surely he knew the world was under water, but he didn't actually think that all of it was literally under the surface. And when Demyx attempted to walk, only to find himself tumbling through the water, seemingly tripping over nothing until he was sent into a coral wall, he had the sense to look down. His coat had disappeared from his chest, leaving it completely bare (and while he was evenly toned as opposed to muscular) he did not like it. At all. ...Was that a tail? Demyx ciudn't even begin to explain his confusion. He was...a merman? So did this make Antlantica a city of merpeople?
Miku Hatsune 636 Posted August 15, 2012 In retrospective, Atlantica as a whole is enormous; as vast as every ocean, and the atmosphere surrounding it being the most comfortable of all the Worlds. It wasn't as foreboding as the others. It didn't feel like a storm cloud looming above your head when you entered. It was more... peaceful, if you wanted to put it that way. Its sense of tranquility was unparalleled by any other World, in fact. Of course, there would be significant changes to who and what entered the world. One of those is obviously the ability to blend in with the locals, becoming a mermaid/merman upon entry. Not only does it serve for an appropriate camouflage, but it also allows someone to breathe underwater. So it isn't really a side-effect, it's more of a requirement to survive in Atlantica. If someone should enter the world, it would not be obvious that they were from elsewhere. And Atlantica did house one of the most unique Princesses; Princess Ariel. Of course, Atlantica had many princesses, but Ariel was... different. Curious. A little more playful and admittedly troublesome than any of her sisters. Always meant to be the center of attention because of her enchanting voice, she rather preferred to sneak away to gather items from the Surface for her collection. She could only anticipate the day she'd be able to meet a human in person.
zexion/ienzo 52 Posted August 16, 2012 Demyx was unsure of what to make of all this. If only he had his notecards to write down his findings. He was sure that, compared to other worlds where he hardly had to focus on anything, he'd find this tail and new world mkre challengung to explain in a report. There were probbably so many things to see, so much to do, so much to hear. And he still needed to learn how to swim. Shouldn't be too hard really, just wiggle his tail half back and forth right? Demyx sighed, looking up at the water's surface, probably showing nothing but a vast expanse of ocean above it. If any of the members were somehow watching this, it was being taped and saved for blackmail sometime later in his Nobody life. Pushing himself gently off of the coral wall he was plastered against, the blond shifted his new body, trying to get used to the feel of lacking legs and having proper fins. It was odd. But he couldn't say he was complaining for the most part. His tail was such a pretty shade of blue - reminding him of the slightly darker blue that Zexion's eyes were. Of course he couldn't write that in the report. He'd get a Lexicon directly to the face. Most unpleasant. "Well, might as well try a crash and burn." Demyx said to himself, attempting at optimism as he tried to swim in an upwards direction slowly. Huh, not too hard... Another attempt a bit fdaster and Demyx felt a wicked grin spread across his face as he got an idea. Always the extremist, the Nobody hoped this wouldn't end in a bloody nose. Working his tail back and forth to cause him to pick up speed, Demyx felt himself break the water's surface and gain some incredible air, his body turning before he dove back, headfirst, into the water. Shaking his head and amazed that he hadn't killed anyone or himself during that attempt, Demyx smiked brightly, giddy with success. Maybe this wouldn't be so bad after all. Clumsily swimming, the blond found himsekf swimming fluently along the water's current, coming across a splendid scene. A market-place from the looks of it. A marketplace full of merpeople swarming around to tralk or get their works for the day. In the background though, towering high, was the beautiful palace and Demyx couldn't help but giggle at the though that maybe there were mermaid princesses. Not that he'd ever get the chance to meet one...But maybe recon did require sneaking through the castle, right? Trying to blend as best as he could, Demyx waved whenever somene did at him first (friendly lot they were in Atlantica), his merman body headed straight for the castle, hoping he coud worm his way inside and wander about.
